North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 518: 366 Psychological Assessment_3

However, it wasn't long before Mary's attention was drawn to a man in a black suit nearby. He moved to the back of the car, pulled out a handgun, and methodically shot four people dead with formidable precision. He then moved next to the fully armed court police and efficiently dealt with the remaining targets.

The footage Mary obtained was the unedited original, not the version broadcast on TV, which was censored to meet broadcasting standards. In this video, the man in the black suit was clearly Jimmy.

"What are you watching? Why are there so many gunshots?" Jenna walked in from outside the study and asked.

"Do you remember Jimmy? That Asian kid. Haven't seen him in months, and now there's fresh news about him." Mary pointed at the screen, prompting Jenna to come over and replay the video.

"Holy shit!" Jenna watched as Jimmy took down seven people in just about ten seconds, her mouth agape as she turned to Mary, "Is that him? He looks nothing like it; he seems just like a fresh graduate."

Smiling, Mary said, "Just a fresh graduate? You really think so? Guess why he first came to see me then."

Jenna was puzzled, "Isn't he your old friend? Could it be that you guys..."

Mary shook her head, "Some things are confidential, I can't tell you everything, but imagine, what he used to do is very close to what he did here."

Jenna shivered, "I can't believe I know someone so incredible. Amazing, cool."

Mary casually turned off the video and the computer, "Alright, let's stop talking about him, let's go." The two got up and left the study.

The next morning, Jimmy got up, washed up, changed his clothes, and was ready to leave the house when he remembered he wasn't going to work today. Why was he wearing a suit? He turned back, changed into casual clothes, and put on a cowboy hat he hadn't worn in a long time. If it wasn't for the inconvenience caused by the FBI of wearing casual clothes, Jimmy would have loved to wear the cowboy hat all the time. Satisfied with his look in the mirror, he finally left and headed to Mary's studio.

Jimmy arrived early, standing in front of Mary's studio before 8 a.m., but unfortunately, both Mary and her beautiful receptionist hadn't arrived yet, so Jimmy had to stand at the door like a guardian deity.

After a while, Mary came out of the elevator, and Jimmy greeted her, "Good morning, Mary." Jimmy opened his arms and hugged Mary, becoming more accustomed to this greeting ritual, which was just a formality and not meant flirtatiously.

"Good morning, Jimmy," Mary replied as she took out an access card from her handbag, swiped it, and opened the door, entering the studio with Jimmy.

Being early wasn't entirely good; Mary let Jimmy sit on the sofa while she organized her desk first before coming over to the sofa to boil water and make tea.

Mary said, "Jimmy, this matter isn't small at all, it seems like Hughes is also under a lot of pressure."

Jimmy shrugged, "Handling an urgent escort mission, I had to resolve it as quickly as possible to avoid endangering others. I had no choice; the blame can't be placed on me for being too harsh; their chosen location was just too dangerous, too many people around."

Mary, laughing, said, "So you've come over again to drink tea." Observing Jimmy's demeanor, which clearly showed no emotional burden, although she didn't know his mental state at the time, after a night, it was evident that Jimmy was now feeling normal again—a psychological adjustment ability surely exceeding many others.

Jimmy also laughed, "Your tea brewing skills are better; I can only boil water for tea. How have you been recently?"

Mary said, "My job is always the same, not much activity, so nothing special. Unlike you, this isn't the only thing you've been up to recently, right?"

Jimmy replied, "I've been busy solving cases lately, running around every day. I actually envy your stable life."

The pair chatted casually for a while when Jimmy suddenly asked, "By the way, how about Jenna? Are you two still together?"

Mary raised an eyebrow, "Didn't you know? You've even met Jenna since then."

Jimmy thought for a moment, "Yes, I did see her once, but that was also a few months ago, probably at an opera. Time flies."

Mary asked, "Is it because of my relationship with Jenna that you've been out of touch?"

Jimmy shook his head, "Just personal preference, nothing more. I respect everyone's choices. Plus, you two look great together, much better than those tomboys. It's not that I haven't been in touch because I've been busy with cases one after another, New York's public safety is just too draining."

Mary nodded, "Right, I remember a shootout on the news a while ago, was that you?"

Jimmy nodded, "It's resolved, and I even received a medal for that case. I remember it was also broadcasted on the news, seems like you missed it. I was quite excited when I received the medal; it was the first honor I've received since joining the FBI."

Mary poured some tea for Jimmy, "Then congratulations to you, the rising star of the FBI."

Just as they were about to continue their conversation, the office door was suddenly knocked on; the receptionist came in, signaling that a scheduled client had arrived.

Jimmy grabbed the cowboy hat from the coffee table and got up, "Alright, I don't have anything else, I won't keep you from meeting your client. I'm off."

Mary stood up, hugged Jimmy goodbye, and then escorted him to the office door. Watching Jimmy leave, she then returned to her place to let the client in.
