North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 475: 351 Interstate cooperation_2

Noah didn't say anything to Gordon, but turned to the people in the command center and said, "You all heard it, let's start the investigation."

After hanging up the phone, Jimmy went back to the previous neighbor to ask again about Joe Coleman's hobbies. Unfortunately, despite living there for several months, Joe Coleman had little interaction with others, and no one was clear about his profession or hobbies.

Other neighbors were the same, and some people did not even notice that someone had moved into the house. In the United States, although people are often familiar with each other in many situations, private details are not commonly shared, which is normal.

However, it was not completely fruitless. At the garage door of the first house on the corner, there was a surveillance camera. The main focus of the monitor was the garage entrance, but a tiny portion could capture the street. Jimmy fast-forwarded through today's footage with the homeowner and found Joe Coleman's silver sedan. It left once after 8 a.m., then returned, and left again 10 minutes before the explosion.

Jimmy called Gordon again, "Tell Noah to check the surveillance at the intersection of 108th Street and George Road, around 11:42 a.m. I saw a video from a neighbor here; a silver sedan left 10 minutes before the explosion."

Gordon: "Understood."

Jimmy's on-site investigation ended smoothly with considerable gains. Now, it was up to Noah and his team. As long as they could handle the surveillance footage, there was always a chance of making progress in the investigation.

Unfortunately, Joe Coleman had minimal interaction with others, and it wasn't common for people to take photos casually, leaving Jimmy without the means to get a clear photo for identification.

Jimmy returned to the front of the exploded house and found Johnny Bullock, "Agent Bullock, any results?"

Bullock shook his head, "Not so fast, the evidence found on-site needs to be taken back for testing to determine the specifics. At the earliest, we'll know by this evening; normally, it would be tomorrow."

Jimmy frowned, "That slow? This might give the suspect a head start to escape. Keep investigating; I'll head back to the bureau to look into other leads."

Bullock: "Do we have any leads?"

Jimmy: "Yeah, a person used to live here; the neighbors knew him as Joe Coleman, I need to go back and investigate that."

Bullock nodded and returned to the explosion site.

Jimmy spoke to the forensic team, then left the site. He wasn't familiar with explosives; it would be better to go back and see if Gordon and Noah had any leads that could be tracked down.

Jimmy had just entered his car and hadn't driven off the street when he received a call from Gordon, "Jimmy, can you start heading to Union City in the north of Jersey City right now? Although we have not confirmed the detailed route yet, the direction of that silver sedan should be toward the Lincoln Tunnel. He might have gone directly through the Lincoln Tunnel to New Jersey."

Jimmy: "Alright, notify me of the route as soon as possible."

While turning the car, Jimmy asked, "Gordon, could you ask Noah if the last person tracked making a phone call to Joseph was in that direction? Maybe he's going to meet that person."

Gordon paused for a moment and then it was Noah who continued speaking, "The folks at the FBI office in Newark haven't found Camel, and there's no clue over there either. The fingerprint on the public phone that was used to make the call is very mixed up, and there are no surveillance cameras at the nearby intersections. That Camel is clearly a professional; he chose a spot to make the call that's highly disadvantageous to us."

"The last time Camel made a call, it was from the southwest of Newark in Springfield, and this time, the direction Joe Coleman went for the explosion case is northeastern Newark. If you really have to say they met, it's possible, as neither place is far from Newark. We will notify the Newark office, and once we have a clear lead, you coordinate with them to track it down."

Jimmy, "If there's a possible lead, it's worth tracking. You guys continue investigating; I'm on my way to the Lincoln Tunnel now."

Noah, "Right, this vehicle was also seen at the cruise port warehouse area this morning, it's just that we haven't been able to get a good angle of the driver's face."

The Lincoln Tunnel connects Union City and Midtown Manhattan and is a major traffic thoroughfare for both sides. Based on the timing of the start of the explosion incident, he had left over an hour ago, and regardless of where he was headed, he should have reached his destination by now. Therefore, the most crucial task for Noah and his team was to investigate the vehicle's route. Although this meant they could only follow from behind, at least the target was clear.

It was now basically confirmed that this person was indeed an engineer. He was supposed to go to the warehouse this morning, but Jimmy and his team had arrived one step earlier. When he arrived at the warehouse area, Jimmy and his team were already searching the warehouse, so he didn't show up and instead went back to his own place, set the time for the explosion, and then drove off.

Now there were two possible directions for him, one was an escape route, and the other was to meet with others to discuss the next plan. Whichever it was, the focus was on tracking that silver car.

Jimmy's phone was definitely hot today, as another call came in, but no number was recorded. "Hi, this is Jimmy."

"Agent Yang, this is Nick from the Forensics Department. We found fingerprints of two additional people on the equipment at the warehouse, and after comparing them, we've identified one person, Javier Vance, a former employee of chemical giant DuPont who was arrested for stealing and reselling factory materials, sentenced to five years, and released from prison two years ago. Since then, he has been unemployed with no related records in the system."

"Thanks, Nick. Who's the other person?"

"There's no match for the other one in the fingerprint database."

"Okay, I'll give you a number. Contact Agent Gordon and fax the information to him. He will arrange for follow-up investigation." Jimmy got Gordon's mobile number and reported it, then hung up and called Gordon.

Jimmy, "Gordon, we found fingerprints of two other people on the equipment at the warehouse, one with no record, and the other a former DuPont employee who used to traffic in factory materials. I suspect he is the supplier of this batch of goods. Even if he isn't the supplier, he's at least a middleman. Nick from Forensics will contact you, fax you the information, and you arrange for the investigation, if necessary bring him in for questioning."

Gordon was speechless; why had the clues suddenly become so dense? All previous leads had been operating in isolation, and now they had multiple threads evolving together. He didn't delay, hanging up to wait for Nick's contact. Jimmy was already off chasing the engineer, and it seemed appropriate for the field agents to step in for the supplier. When the details came, they could use the Anti-Terrorism Bureau to conduct the investigation and let Scott and the others take action, as it wouldn't be right to let New York's glory be claimed by their divisions.

Jimmy no longer concerned himself with these matters and continued driving to New Jersey. Now that they had a suspicious supplier and were on the trail of the engineer, the only unknown was the mastermind Camel.

This darn case had been a hassle for a long time, and if it wasn't resolved soon, he was nearing his breaking point. Previous cases he had handled were never this long, and the process too cumbersome. Chris, that old bastard, disappeared at critical moments, leaving most of the pressure on him. Although the lead agent of the case was Gordon from headquarters, it would be quite embarrassing if his office didn't produce some results.

By the time Jimmy reached Union City, he had already received a message from Gordon that the agents at the Newark office had traced the silver car and were following it. All Jimmy needed to do was wait for their notification of the final location and head over. Since Jimmy didn't know when he'd meet with his colleagues from Newark, he couldn't go to a restaurant and instead drove around a bit before finding a food truck to settle for lunch.

Around 3 PM, Jimmy finally received a call from an agent at the Newark office and hurried to Rutherford.
