North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 469: 349 Found you

Because there was only half a day between the two videos, from evening to the next morning, Deputy Editor Allen's phone wasn't particularly busy; there were only three calls, especially the home phone. Good grief, in order not to miss any clues, Jimmy even listened to other people's calls.

However, it seems that this 50-year-old deputy editor has a wide range of interests. At least he received calls from three seemingly unusual women, although he didn't know their ages, but one of them sounded quite young.

Understandably, as a TV station's deputy editor, he was somewhat of a big deal, though not particularly well-known. But such people often have direct authority over matters, whether programs or personnel. There definitely weren't few in the news circle willing to curry favor with him.

As Jimmy listened, he couldn't help but smirk, thinking, "This old man, still quite popular, huh?"

Suddenly, Jimmy heard what he was searching for.

"Mr. Tudik, there's someone here for you, an independent journalist."

"Put them through."

"Line 2."

"Who's this?"

"Mr. Tudik, I am an independent journalist; you can call me Squirrel. I have some very important news. Would you be available to meet?"

"Please don't waste my time; just contact one of my reporters."

"Wait, wait. It's related to the news you just broadcast, that video."

After a two-second pause, "What news do you have?"

"Do you have time to meet, Mr. Tudik? I have another video, but it requires face-to-face communication."

"Location."

"In twenty minutes, at the Blue Cat Café not far from your building. Don't worry, I won't take you to any dangerous places."

"Okay, how will I know it's you?"

"You'll know. See you soon."

The call time was 8:30 AM, which was the normal working hours; after all, the TV station operated 24 hours a day. As a deputy editor, it was perfectly normal for him to be at the station, whether he came in early or had worked a night shift.

Jimmy noted down this phone call on a sticky note and continued listening to other recordings. Although he had found this one, it was best to listen to all of them just to be safe and avoid any oversights.

Meanwhile, Jimmy found another recording he had listened to earlier, where Allen seemed to have arranged a news program over the phone. He planned to check the time later. If the timing was close, it was likely that the arranged news was Jimmy's second video.

After going through several recordings, he finally found it: at 9:12 AM, Allen called someone to inquire about the morning's news arrangement, then requested to insert a news segment at 10 AM before he hung up.

This phone call was just over half an hour after the call he received on the office phone from the whistleblower. Adding the time for meeting and bargaining with the journalist Squirrel, it must have been the call to arrange his second video to be broadcasted on the news.

Got you, Squirrel. With the phone number, he can't get away now.

Jimmy then took a few sheets of paper and copied down Allen Tudik's personal information, although he didn't understand why Noah had provided him with it separately, but one thing was sure: Noah was not the type to do meaningless things, there must be something Jimmy hadn't uncovered yet.

After sorting everything out, Jimmy checked the time, goodness, it was almost 9 PM. He gathered his things, shut down the computer, left it on the conference table, and left the meeting room.

Getting into his car, Jimmy dialed Ruiz's number.

Jimmy: "Ruiz, good news, I've located Allen's source. Where are you right now?"

Ruiz: "That's really good news. I'm at home. Where are you? I'll come to you."

Jimmy: "No need to come out; I'll come to you. Just tell me your address."

Luckily, although Ruiz didn't live in Manhattan, he wasn't far away, just in Brooklyn near Manhattan, which made sense. As an FBI agent who had been working for many years, although not extravagantly wealthy, buying a house nearby was feasible for him, especially because the mortgage processing fees were super low, which counted as a benefit. Jimmy also enjoyed this perk, though he didn't take out many loans.

Jimmy pressed Ruiz's doorbell. Ruiz, dressed in casual home wear, welcomed Jimmy inside.

As they sat in the living room, Jimmy pulled a stack of sticky notes from his pocket and handed them to Ruiz: "This is Allen Tudik's personal information, this one is his conversation with the source, and also the source's mobile number."

Ruiz didn't look at the personal information, but immediately started reading the content of the conversation that Jimmy had documented.

Ruiz: "Hmm, this should confirm it, Squirrel. I am not familiar with journalism, but it's definitely a codename. With this phone number, we can find his information. Well done, Jimmy."

Jimmy: "I had some help; I need to return a favor later. Handle this as soon as you can."

Ruiz: "Don't worry, with this information, I will definitely find him and get his source."

Jimmy: "Alright, I'm headed home; you should rest early."

Jimmy stood up, and Ruiz also arose to see him off. There were no pleasantries about having a drink or anything similar. Ruiz and Jimmy shared a bond forged in life-threatening circumstances, naturally, it was Jimmy who saved him. Helping Jimmy handle his affairs, Ruiz was very dedicated.

While driving home, Jimmy stopped at a night food truck to take care of dinner and a midnight snack before heading straight home to sleep. After listening to recordings for several hours, his ears hurt, his head ached, and he felt somewhat dizzy.
