North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 376: 313 go on a field trip_3

The next day at noon, Jimmy was still resting when suddenly cries of alarm came from outside. He got up and went to the window, where he saw a large wild boar chasing after an Apprentice on watch duty, who was blocking the animal with farm tools while running and dodging.

Jimmy pulled out his gun and aimed from the window, shooting the boar in the head, unfortunately, it wasn't enough to take it down with one shot. Seeing it continue to charge, Jimmy emptied the revolver's chamber. After all, no one would eat the boar, so the bullet fragments in its body probably wouldn't matter.

After bringing down the boar, Jimmy shouted, "What's going on? Where did this boar come from?"

"I don't know, I only noticed it when it got close to me."

Priest Horton also came outside, "It might be that skull, Jimmy, we need to leave immediately."

Priest Horton arranged for one Apprentice to pack up the boxes and another to tidy up the room. The four of them then drove back to Priest Horton's church in Dallas.

"Jimmy, thank you for everything you've done for us," Priest Horton said, making a point to thank Jimmy before leaving.

Jimmy: "Don't mention it, it's all part of the job, I still haven't thanked you for the Exorcism Ceremony you performed for me last time."

Priest Horton took out a small box from his pocket, "Give this to you as a memento. I made it myself."

Jimmy opened the box, inside was a small Cross Pendant, the kind that hangs on a necklace, quite tiny, only about 3 cm in length.

Jimmy closed the lid, "Thank you, Priest Horton. I'll be heading back now. If there's nothing else here, I need to hurry back to New York."

Jimmy returned to the Dallas office where Lambert briefly inquired about the result. Glancing at the time, he said, "Jimmy, your task is completed, the rest will be handled by Priest Horton's side. Now you can think about what you want to do over the next few days."

Jimmy's eyes lit up, "The next few days?"

Lambert: "Yes, I requested your transfer for two weeks. Go ahead."

Jimmy: "Thank you, Supervisor Lambert. I'll be leaving then."

Jimmy left the office feeling surprised; he had thought he'd have to rush back to New York immediately but had managed to wrap things up in only four or five days. Did that mean he would have some days off? After some thought, he decided to call Frank, figuring Tom only strictly prohibited him from contacting the training center and the Anti-Terrorism Bureau; using this time to see how a retired CIA Agent works wasn't a bad idea.

Jimmy was impulsive now, mainly because he already knew his CIA identity was part of the stumbling block project. Sooner or later, he would have to deal with them. Maybe he would even experience the same fate as Frank, being cleared out by the CIA's assassination squad. With Tom appearing so elusive, the only connection he might have to them was through Frank. With the current skills Jimmy had, as long as he was careful, there shouldn't be any problems.

Jimmy: "Hey, how's it going over there?"

Frank: "Anything I can help you with?"

Jimmy: "Ah, just calling to confirm, have you checked on the remaining two?"

Frank: "Gabriel Singer is dead."

Jimmy: "Oh, where are you? There's something I need to confirm with you."

Frank: "I'm very busy right now, can it wait until later?"

Jimmy: "Please, you're facing them alone right now. What if something unexpected happens? Let's meet first."

Frank: "Fine, we should be able to get to D.C. tonight. If it's convenient for you, come on over."

Jimmy: "OK, I'm setting off now."

In the evening, Jimmy arrived in Washington, D.C., wearing sunglasses and a cowboy hat, covering himself up tightly. He rented a car using a false identity he had kept since his days as a county police officer in a small town and had dinner at a roadside restaurant while waiting for Frank to get in touch.

Jimmy left the restaurant, parked the car in an open space, sat inside closing his eyes to rest, waiting for Frank's arrival. However, he wasn't fortunate enough to rest; in just two hours, Jimmy had scared away two groups of idiots trying to pry open the car door. Since there were no lights around and he didn't turn on the car lights, those outside trying to break in couldn't see anyone inside the car. It took Jimmy pointing a gun at the car window to scare them off, otherwise, it could have easily escalated from car theft to robbery.

A car came from a distance and stopped next to Jimmy. Jimmy and Frank got out of their cars; there was still someone inside the car, but because of the light, Jimmy couldn't see who it was.

Jimmy, "Frank, did you drive here from Arizona?"

Frank, "Of course, now that someone is tracking my movements, driving is the best option. What's so important that you needed to speak to me face-to-face?"

Jimmy gestured, and the two men moved away from the car, "Frank, do you remember the name Tom Kodaiski?"

Frank didn't speak, but looked at Jimmy. They were far from the car, relying on just a bit of moonlight; you really couldn't see expressions very clearly.

Frank, "What's your relationship with him? How could you possibly know him?"

Jimmy, "Uh, he trained me."

Frank, "You're with the CIA?"

Jimmy coughed, "I won't confirm or deny that."

Frank, "You're definitely CIA; of course, I remember Kodaiski. I trained him. But he should be dead by now, I had heard he had an accident on a mission."

Jimmy, "You still remember him?"

Frank, "Seems he should have learned a thing or two from Marvin. Where is he?"

Jimmy, "I don't know, but when he contacts me, I can let you know."

Frank, "Hm, is that the issue?"

Jimmy, "Yeah, mainly for this, and also, I just happen to be on vacation, so do you think..."

Frank shook his head, "Too dangerous. You should go back."

Jimmy, "Come on, for old times' sake, let me be part of it, to learn from a veteran."

Frank, "Can you get into Langley?"

Jimmy shook his head and waved his hand, "No, I'm currently undercover; I can't activate my identity, it would cause big problems."

Frank looked at Jimmy and didn't speak, and Jimmy knew he was thinking, so he didn't interrupt him. Finally, Frank nodded, "Follow from a distance, do not get involved."

The two returned to the side of the car, and an old man got out of Frank's car, "Oh, Mr. Bright, long time no see."

Frank, "This is Marvin, the Marvin from that list."

Jimmy turned to Frank, "He's been dead for a few years in the system." Then he turned to Marvin, "Marvin, I never would have guessed."

Frank, "Alright, we're heading out." Marvin didn't say anything and went straight back to the passenger seat.

Jimmy nodded. Since Frank didn't say where they were going, he would just drive and follow them from a distance; Frank definitely had a plan.
