Jimmy said to Chris, printed out a few photos, grabbed them, and left the office, driving towards Queens.
He first visited several precincts in Queens. The FBI badge was still useful. After communicating with them and asking them to keep an eye on the printed photos, it wouldn't take much effort, but it was a mystery how many patrol officers would actually help. After all, this is New York, where the FBI's clout is there, but just barely.
After finishing in Queens, the next stop was Suffolk County in the northeast corner of Nassau County. Things were actually a bit easier there. Long Island's public safety was relatively good, and they were somewhat concerned about the violent shooting incident that happened in the neighboring area since Long Island is essentially the backyard for New York's wealthy.
Arriving in Suffolk County, Jimmy took the opportunity to check out Romany's villa where the unusual incident had taken place. The blockade was already lifted, and there was a sign outside; the villa was up for sale. Jimmy moved closer and noticed that the smoke device from the basement was gone, indicating that someone had cleared up the place during this time.
The villas on Long Island were out of Jimmy's reach, especially these large seaside properties. After a quick glance, Jimmy got back in his car and left.
It was still early for the return trip, and Jimmy, having no particular business in hand, decided to give it a shot on the way. He turned and headed for Jamaica, near the underground gambling den of Razor. Jimmy got out of the car, straightened his clothes and gun, and walked over.
Evening was approaching, and Razor's base, the underground gambling den, was almost ready to open. From outside, Jimmy could see some figures moving around. He approached the door and knocked.
"It's not time yet, come back after 7," a man's voice came from the intercom system next to the door.
Jimmy held down the talk button, "I'm here to see Razor. Tell him, the person from yesterday is looking for him."
"Who are you?"
Jimmy: "FBI."
After saying this, Jimmy released the talk button, took out a cigarette pack, lit up, and waited for the response from inside.
Before he finished his cigarette, the door buzzed and slowly opened, "Please come in."
Jimmy threw the cigarette on the ground, stamped it out with his shoe, and followed the man into the underground gambling den. It was still the same room he had seen Razor in last time, but now Razor had a minion by his side who seemed very strong, and the tattoo from his neck to his right face screamed all bark and no bite.
Razor greeted with a smile, "We meet again, Agent. Anything I can help you with?"
Jimmy looked at his minion, "Razor, let's talk alone."
Razor's smile remained. He gestured with his hand, and the tattooed man walked out, closing the door behind him.
Jimmy walked up, took out his cigarette pack, flicked out two cigarettes, and handed one to Razor. Razor didn't hesitate, took it, picked up a lighter from the table, and lit up. Jimmy, in turn, lit his own with his lighter.
After lighting the cigarette, Razor stood up, moved away from the desk, and gestured to two armchairs, "Have a seat."
Jimmy sat down, took a drag, and then asked, "Razor, how are you connected with Ruiz?"
Razor: "Like Tom and Jerry, of course, I'm Jerry."
Jimmy: "Manny Morley is my target. Ruiz was supposed to ask around for me."
Razor nodded and gestured for Jimmy to continue.
Jimmy: "I need to find him, to verify some information. Can you give me his number?"
Razor smoked in silence. After a while, he stood up, took two glasses and a bottle of liquor from a side table, poured drinks into both glasses, and pushed one towards Jimmy.
Razor: "Before we continue, I want to confirm something. Did you take care of the MS13 matter?"
Jimmy crushed his cigarette in the ashtray on the coffee table, picked up the glass, and nodded, "That was over two months ago. You guys should have already received the relevant information by now."
Razor: "It wasn't easy to get, just like I said yesterday, thanks for avenging my brothers, cheers."
Razor raised his glass and clinked it with Jimmy's. The two drank, placed their glasses on the table, and as Razor poured more alcohol, he said, "Manny is my man, I need to know what exactly he has done wrong."
Jimmy: "At the moment, it's just suspicion, we're checking all the suspects, I can't tell you the case yet. For the sake of the Leopard Cat, help me this time, peace does not come easy."
Jimmy looked around. Before entering, he had already checked the room. There were no surveillance cameras, as it was their boss's room, and installing cameras would be excessive, which is why he had offered a cigarette as a gesture of goodwill.
Looking again now, there were four men standing outside the door, two of them holding guns, ready to come in if there was trouble.
Jimmy: "You've set up a nice environment here, it would be a mess to disrupt."
Razor fell silent for a while, then said, "You're young, youth is the future, to our friendship." Razor raised his glass again, being the boss he was different, not so impulsive.
Jimmy and he drank a second cup. Razor stood up, went to the desk, wrote down a cell phone number, tore it off, and handed it to Jimmy.
Jimmy took it and stuffed it directly into his pocket: "Thanks, friendship will be rewarded." He switched the glass from his right hand to his left and shook hands with Razor to say goodbye, "I'll keep the glass as a souvenir."
Jimmy pushed the door open, and under the watchful eyes of the four underlings outside, he left the underground gambling den.
After exiting the door, Jimmy got into a car by the roadside and drove away from Jamaica. He hadn't looked at the piece of paper Razor wrote since he just wanted to get away from there quickly.
This was Jimmy's first time dealing with a gang leader directly; when he last went to meet the head of the Trasov family, Ruiz did all the talking. The scene was quite a thrill.
The conversation just now, Jimmy had also tried to imitate, of whom, of course, it was from the movies he had seen before.
Not sure if Razor had realized, there seemed to be a moment when Jimmy had suppressed Razor's momentum. When Razor would realize that Jimmy was faking it, that would be interesting. For now, while it was still safe, he hurriedly left Razor's territory.
Razor's subsequent reaction was unknown to Jimmy, but the cell phone number he had obtained, being handwritten by Razor, should theoretically be without issues. It was already night time, and he wondered if Chris was still at the station.
While driving, Jimmy took out an FBI phone and dialed Chris's number. He switched to speaker mode and placed it on the center console.
Chris: "Jimmy, what's up?"
Jimmy: "Chris, are you at the station? I've got a cell number that needs location tracking."
Chris: "Let's do it tomorrow, I'm already home."
Jimmy: "Okay, rest well, good night."
Indeed, Jimmy didn't know what Chris was usually like, but during the time he had followed him, Chris seemed nothing but a salary thief.
Jimmy drove straight home to rest, the case was finally seeing the first light of dawn.
Early the next morning, Jimmy hurried to the station. His account permissions were not enough to call up cell number data for tracking. This was normal, as many things were done covertly; if everyone had access, it would become a completely open secret, which would be trouble.
Chris arrived at work on the dot, and Jimmy handed him the note. Chris operated on the computer for a while, then printed out a location map. Jimmy took it and glanced at it. This Manny Morley hadn't run far, just from Jamaica in Queens to Brooklyn.
No big issue, now with the location, Jimmy could proceed with the next steps. After getting ready, this time Chris joined him to meet this Manny.
Chris cooperated with Jimmy throughout the process, not even asking how he had managed to get the number. Perhaps this was also a test for Jimmy, since not all means within the FBI are legitimate, and everyone needs their methods to achieve their goals.
