Roland took out the liquor, glanced at it, and then casually set it on the table beside the door.
Roland said, "Sit down, you must have something on your mind, speak up."
Jimmy sat on the couch, removed his cowboy hat and set it on the coffee table, "There is indeed something I need to consult about. Roland, you mentioned before that you've been eliminating demons all over the place, right?"
Roland nodded, and Jimmy continued, "I've recently encountered a very strange case. In a villa, four people died simultaneously from asphyxiation-caused cardiac arrest, and the forensic doctor couldn't determine the cause of death."
Roland replied, "That kind of thing is quite common. What else?"
Jimmy said, "Before they died, I had communicated with them. The homeowner's safe had a missing emerald necklace. I went to assist with the investigation, and after conducting an initial inquiry, I left the villa. The next day, they all died.
That villa has a basement with possibly something unnatural in it, like a smoky substance."
Roland said, "If it's smoke, it could be a resentful spirit. That shouldn't be hard to deal with. You guys should be able to handle that type of resentful spirit; I remember there's an official demon extermination squad."
Jimmy replied, "I've never heard of it. This is only the second time I've encountered such a supernatural event. The first time was in Little Rock, where I witnessed an exorcism ceremony in a church performed by a priest. It was the first time I saw smoke emerging from a person, which was then purified by the priest.
Encountering this again, I contacted that priest, and he gave me the contact details of a demon hunter. I learned some knowledge about demons and evil spirits from him, but I don't have any demon extermination weapons, so I'm still unable to deal with these demons and evil spirits."
Jimmy drew his revolver, laid it on the coffee table and slid it toward Roland, "Could you take a look and tell me if my gun can be considered a demon extermination weapon? This gun has killed thirty criminals over the past two years."
Roland didn't take Jimmy's gun but looked at him and shook his head, "Jimmy, you have the capability to kill demons. I've said before, when I first took Jimmy to slay demons years ago, he already had the ability to kill them."
Jimmy, frowning, said, "I've never felt it; apart from being able to see smoky evil spirits, I've never done anything about killing demons. When you took Jimmy to slay demons back then, what weapon did he use?"
Roland replied, "Just an ordinary revolver." After saying that, Roland stood up, went into the next room, and came back with a revolver for Jimmy.
Roland said, "This is the training gun he used back then. Although he eventually took the gun he used for demon slaying with him, that one was just bought on a whim from a gun store, no different from this one."
Jimmy took the gun, opened the chamber, which was empty, and then looked down the barrel from the front. The gun had been used so frequently that the rifling had worn down severely; it was practically scrapped.
Roland went on to say, "What kills demons is not the gun or bullets themselves but the conviction. Although he was full of hatred at that time, hatred is also a form of power. With the strength of conviction, even ordinary bullets can wound or even kill demons."
Jimmy looked up at Roland, "Conviction? Can ordinary weapons work as well?"
Roland nodded, "They're just less effective but not completely useless. Of course, demon-slaying weapons with demon-breaking properties are more effective. I have seen weapons used by the demon hunters of this world and the priests from the church, most of which are weapons blessed by faith, while a few are endowed with the power of demons or evil spirits."
Jimmy: "I can't get my hands on such a weapon now, so how can I bless my own gun with belief?"
Roland: "It's not something you can just talk into existence. If you were able to do it before, it must have been for revenge. But now, without that kind of emotional support, it should be very difficult to achieve."
Jimmy was somewhat speechless; his former self was filled with rage due to witnessing his father's death, and he hated demons. But where would the current Jimmy get that kind of hatred?
Jimmy: "Then according to the demon hunters, weapons that have killed many people could also become demon extermination weapons. My gun has killed quite a few people, so does it inherently possess demon-breaking capabilities?"
Roland: "It's unlikely. Firearms generally require a special method of energy infusion to have demon extermination capabilities, or they must be made from holy relics from the start."
Roland picked up his own gun from the table next to him, "These two guns were made from King Arthur's steel sword, the Sword of the King, which in itself is a holy relic forged, sturdy and unwearable. I have been using them for decades. This is what a weapon forged from a holy relic looks like."
Jimmy reached out and took Roland's gun, the Remington 1875 model, except that when it was made, it didn't have the traditional fixed chamber position of the 1875; instead, it had a left-tilting chamber. The chamber was empty, no bullets. Jimmy inverted the revolver and glanced at the rifling. For a gun that had been used for several decades, the rifling was still clear and showed no signs of wear—truly unwearable as Roland had said.
Jimmy handed the gun back to Roland, "Roland, there's another thing I need to confirm with you. The demons or evil spirits you've encountered before, did any of them have white spots on them?"
Roland shook his head: "I've never noticed such a thing. Tell me more."
Jimmy: "The first time I saw an exorcism ceremony, after the smoke rose from the person and coalesced into a humanoid shape, then three moving white spots appeared on it. After the exorcism ceremony was complete, and the evil spirit perished, the white spots also disappeared."
Roland: "I have never seen that. If you didn't see it wrong, then you must have some special ability, but you've never mentioned that before."
Jimmy took a few deep breaths, thought about it, and finally decided to speak up.
Jimmy: "Speaking of special abilities, I do have one. I can sense objects behind walls, just like radar scanning, seeing the outlines of buildings and objects."
Roland: "X-ray vision?"
Jimmy: "Yes and no. The term 'x-ray vision' usually means seeing the details of objects, but I can only sense outlines, like the shape of a person, furniture, boxes, etc. I can guess what I'm sensing based on the outline, but I can't see the details, like if there's a person behind the wall, what clothes they're wearing, what they have on them, etc. I'm totally unable to sense that."
Roland: "Flash Spirit, you have spiritual power like Jack—his precognition, and you can sense objects. I can't believe that we've been living together for 8 years and I never realized you had such an ability."
Roland stood up, put his gun back on the table next to him, and sat back down.
Roland: "I think you should be able to do it, imbue your gun and bullets with your ability. Flash Spirit is an innate psychic sense, and since you have it, you should be able to pull it off. No, you definitely can do it."
