North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 260: 239 Proof of strength?

Peter and his three companions arrived at the training field in two cars, and after checking in, they also ran into an acquaintance of Peter's.

Peter, "Ruiz, what are you doing here?"

Ruiz turned to look at Peter, "This exercise was actually organized by me. So you must be Jimmy, good morning, Jimmy."

Ruiz extended his right hand to Jimmy, and after they shook hands, Ruiz continued, "Do you know the reaction of the others when I took out the report? God, did you guys forget to add a zero to your report?"

Peter, "What are you joking about? Even if I wanted to add an extra zero, it wouldn't be possible since there are only four of us in total. Alright, how have you arranged everything?"

Ruiz, "The drill squad is already in place. The scenario is a simple recreation. Let's go."

It was evident that Ruiz was very familiar with Peter, but it seemed like there were some issues between them, and their relationship did not appear to be particularly good.

Walking into the training field and seeing the buildings there gave Jimmy a sense of returning to a former life. Geez, in addition to the regular shooting ranges, there were several buildings scattered around, all marked with various spray-paint colors and burn marks, showing that frequent drills and counter-terrorism, CQB exercises were certainly common here.

There was one building, the tallest with seven floors, which had ropes hanging down from the windows on each level, suggesting that this was a place to practice climbing or fast roping. But to Jimmy, these structures brought back memories of his previous fire service training, where they frequently practiced fast descents and airborne kicking, except their goal was to kick people back into the room through a window.

When they were at the FBI Academy, they did not have this kind of training. They had specialized support units to handle high-risk or urgent situations, with agents more often involved in cases and investigations.

They arrived in front of a three-story building set up to simulate the warehouse exit, with even the obstructions Jones had hidden behind recreated. Apart from using this small building as a substitute for the warehouse, everything else was practically consistent with the situation Jimmy and Jones had faced at that time.

Two squads had already been waiting in front of the building, and when they saw them coming, a few people stood up and came over. Ruiz introduced Peter and his group to them, and their gaze settled directly on Jimmy.

They had already reviewed the case report numerous times, and everyone's ammunition had been checked. The Black kid, Jones, could be directly ignored since he was mostly providing cover fire. Although he did hit a few shots, he didn't significantly impact the overall situation.

To recreate the scene as accurately as possible, Jimmy and Jones didn't change clothes and went in wearing their suits. However, since it was an exercise, they both switched to training guns provided by the training field, loaded with practice rounds that wouldn't cause injury but still hurt a bit. Therefore, everyone wore protective helmets, covering the entire face, which they also had during academy training.

The training guns did not affect Jones but were a slight issue for Jimmy, as he had used a revolver at that time. However, it wasn't a big problem.

Jones went behind cover, and Jimmy hid behind a corner of the wall. Jones's side started first, with two team members approaching his position, then firing to draw others out from the building. Jimmy then began shouting, "FBI, put your weapons down, you are surrounded," while extending his pistol from the wall and firing two shots. Everyone began to move away from the door towards the corner, and Jimmy took the opportunity to empty his magazine.

Next, following the procedure of the day of the shootout from the corner to Jones's position and then to another side, Jimmy emptied another magazine, hitting all the participants in the exercise. Now it was daylight, with no cover; Jimmy did not hold back, treating everyone equally.

After the demonstration was complete, everyone gathered together again to discuss the decisions made by the opposing gunmen and Jimmy's thought process at the time. In the end, they had to admit that Jimmy's luck was incredibly good. Due to the darkness of the night and the lack of lighting, Jimmy's two movements away from cover went undetected, especially since he was wearing a black suit that blended in without any other colors to stand out, moving stealthily through the darkness just the same.

When he reached the side of the gunman, because the gunman's target was still on Jones's cover position, they were completely exposed to Jimmy. Dealing with enemies huddled together and clearing the magazine to hit all the targets was purely a matter of marksmanship, which was not an issue at all for those in the support team.

As for the outcome of their discussion, Jones was nodding all along, and Jimmy just watched them with a smile, echoing in agreement. After all, no matter what they thought, it wasn't going to affect Jimmy's mood. As long as the case proceeded smoothly and didn't cause any trouble for himself, everything was fine by him.

However, someone decided to complicate matters. Ruiz and Peter whispered to each other and suddenly asked Jimmy to demonstrate his shooting skills at the moving target range.

Jimmy was speechless, already being so cooperative, almost to the point of making a fool of himself, how could he still be targeted?

The crowd arrived at the shooting range, startling the others practicing there. What was going on, why were so many people coming over all at once? It was human nature to be drawn to spectacles, and upon hearing there was something exciting to see, another group quickly gathered around.

Jimmy looked at the crowd gathered to enjoy the commotion and couldn't help but roll his eyes. Fine, he thought, might as well enjoy it today.

Jimmy: "Bring me some bullets, .357 Magnum revolver bullets, and Parabellum 9mm, please."

"Got it, we've got everything here, just a sec, 9mm is on the table, help yourself. I'll be back with the rest before you start," said a member of the support team, and then he ran off.

Jimmy took off his suit, revealing a gun holster over his shoulder, a revolver placed below his left arm, and a Glock at his right waist. His double-sided bullet holster immediately attracted everyone's attention—having bullet holsters on both sides was a rare sight, sparking curiosity about just how much he worried about running out of ammunition.

"Jimmy, let me take a look at that holster," shouted a member of the support team. Since Jimmy was waiting for bullets anyway, he didn't mind, so he took out the revolver and handed over the holster.

"This is really well made, must be handcrafted. Look at the patterns, beautiful. Jimmy, how much did it set you back?"

"Not much, just got it a few days ago, a few hundred bucks."

"FxxK, I hate rich people." After a few people passed it around to have a look, they handed it back to Jimmy, who put the holster back on and slid the revolver inside again. The team member who went to fetch bullets returned with two boxes, providing Jimmy with enough ammunition to use at his leisure.

Jimmy looked around the shooting range, noting the multiple layers of target paper from 10 to 20 meters away. This was a pistol range, so the targets weren't very distant. The rifle range was on the other side, with targets at 100 to 300 meters. In the short time they had been there, all the paper targets had been replaced, showcasing fresh target paper with more visible bullet points.

Jimmy drew his Glock from his waist and stepped up to the firing position, picking up the earplugs from the table and putting them on—here they didn't use fully enclosing headphones, just interconnected earplugs.
