The second chance of the uncrowned king - (Isekai)

Chap 61: Meeting the ogres.

"My body feels completely renewed." Three years using only my Imra and physical skill have strengthened it. I had forgotten to train my muscles, relying too much on mana to boost my speed and power.

My body is now far more toned. The child-like frame has slowly disappeared; even though I'm only eleven, I could easily pass for fifteen. I must be around 168 or 169 centimeters tall. My body has matured extremely fast.

My spinal columns are now completely healed and reinforced. "Time to test my skills after all this time." Since the knowledge is embedded in my being, using them again feels effortless, no matter how many months have passed. It's like riding a bike—you never forget.

My domain still amazes me. It's much wider now and captures more information compared to its pseudo form. My charged steps take a little longer to execute. Using the four stored charges, I notice the distance covered has increased a few meters with each one. I know how to use it; I just need to refine my mind to reach the same speed I once had.

My Frozen Core calms my thoughts and stabilizes my emotions as I remember. I draw my swords to test the sharpness of my Imra. I'm pleasantly surprised—my Imra feels so sharp it could cut through a grade-three monster. Now it's time to test my two main mana-based skills.

I start creating Version 1 spheres nonstop. Thanks to my concentration and increased mana pool from leveling up, I can create 20 of them without much effort. Version 2 spheres (with condensed mana) take more time, but I manage to conjure 11 without exhausting my mind or losing control. Version 3 spheres (with spiked lightning charge) are already a challenge. I need to refine my construction technique. I can handle up to 7 at once without overloading my mind—mana is not the issue.

I'm considering a Version 4. I want to electrify the spikes, make them rotate with lightning to enhance speed and piercing power.

My Fortified Construction remains reliable for both defense and offense. It takes a few seconds to coat specific body parts. Interestingly, my mind now tolerates complex constructions better. I can cover an entire arm with enough prep time. I'll start reinforcing my head and chest first—arms and legs can come later.

Vital Synthesis has reached level 10 after a full year of use, but hasn't improved since. Once I'm out, I'll need to investigate why. No time to waste. I head toward the location Sus told me about. Running should take no more than a day with a body honed by mana and Imra, moving through this dungeon is easier than ever.

Along the way, I avoided grade-one monsters and weak grade-twos. No point wasting time if I want to clear this dungeon quickly. After a day and a half of running with short rests, I finally reach the outer edge of the dungeon's core. What lies ahead looks like an ogre village. "I need to find out how many more are nearby."

I spend the next three days scouting the area. Thanks to Vital Synthesis, I don't need much sleep. Still, I rest at least five hours at night to stay sharp. My domain works even while I sleep, which helps me feel safe.

"Eight villages circling the center, two larger ones closer to the middle, and a fortress at the heart. That's probably where the dungeon's core is. What should I do?" Charging straight into the fortress is suicide. They could call reinforcements, and being grade-three monsters, they'd be here in minutes.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it. I need to wipe out the villages first. I'll start by taking out solitary ogres. I have to test my combat capabilities before doing anything reckless.

Wandering around, I find two ogres together—couldn't find a lone one. I sneak up from behind and prepare my Version 4 spheres. At about 30 meters, I launch them at full speed. The speed and power surprise even me. Building that mana channel was tedious, but absolutely worth it.

The ogres don't have time to react. My spheres strike their backs, pierce through their chests, and release an electric discharge while the mana core detonates, freezing them from within. They die instantly without knowing what hit them. AMAZING. I ACTUALLY HAVE A CHANCE!

I can use four V4 spheres at once. I can't just charge into a village or I'll die. My best shot is to reduce their numbers while staying on the move. Let the hunt begin. I move like a shadow, minimizing noise, practicing my V4 spheres on the go. I recycle mana upon impact to avoid waste.

It's hard to find groups of less than five ogres. I take down multiple groups of three or four throughout the day. At night, I find a cave with no signs of life and rest there.

The next morning, I spot a group of five. They haven't noticed me. Should I take the risk? I could kill four with the V4s, but creating a fifth could throw off my aim and focus. No, I'll risk going one-on-one. That way, I'll know if my Imra can pierce their skin—and if I'm really grade-three level.

I launch the V4s and activate every skill I have. The last ogre spots me and charges. I can feel his bloodlust—his Imra radiates pure violence. "Come dance, ugly." I leap forward with no fear. His speed slightly outpaces mine, but my swords are faster.

We clash. I dodge his blows just barely while trying to land a strike. He's skilled too, deflecting or dodging most of my attacks. Up close, I realize—he's using some form of body reinforcement with mana and Imra.

Time passes with no clear advantage. He can't hit me, and my slashes can't get past the energy in his fists. I fake a misstep. He buys it, grinning as he lunges. At the last second, I use a charged step to shift sideways and another to appear at his flank. His overextended punch leaves him wide open. I sharpen my Imra and go for his upper arm. His reinforcement slows me down—I only cut through 20% of it. I use another step to retreat.

Damn brute. These ogres are over 2 meters tall, their arms as thick as a man's waist, bodies packed with muscle, and their bronze skin only makes their monstrous features stand out more. Still, the cut works. He's bleeding heavily, and his right arm is now useless. Without giving him a chance to recover, I aim my strikes at his right side.

Small cuts start piling up. I sense something strange in his wound—a life-based affinity? Can he heal slowly? That's a problem. Glad I figured it out now. I create a Version 3 sphere and slam it into his chest.

He focused all his Imra on his chest to resist it, but it still sends him flying. Approaching, I see his torso half-frozen and sparking. And he's still alive. I sharpen my Imra and with a clean strike, take off his head.

I learned a lot from this fight. I had underestimated them. They're still stronger and faster than me—my variety and experience gave me the edge. Well, I guess that makes me a limit-breaker, huh?

I keep targeting small ogre groups. I'm no longer afraid of facing five. Now I'm locked in another battle with a stronger ogre—likely an intermediate grade-three. He's stronger, faster, and has tight control. I'm being forced back gradually. His punches are insanely heavy, but I deflect them little by little.

I start creating multiple V2 spheres to help when he pushes me. They hit his face and arms, letting me regain ground. Got you now. He leaves his chest open., I step in with a charge and slash his chest, then retreat again. He's shocked I managed to wound him.

I repeat the pattern, waiting for another opening, when it comes, I slash at his left leg—land a deep cut. Suddenly, spikes of rock shoot up from the ground—I dodge fast.

It was a trap. A punch from his right arm comes flying, I raise my sword to block and reinforce my left arm with Fortified Construction. The hit sends me flying. I feel bones crack , He doesn't chase—his injured leg slows him. Instead, he laughs as he begins healing both wounds—chest and leg—slowly.
