Without warning, Rona made a palm strike towards Amber's chest and she immediately parried it.
"Are we really going to do this here? The elder in charge of martial Pavillion is around. Rona, please stop." Sharon, the one that had remained quiet since Amber's group began to attack Rona finally spoke up.
She used to be Rona's friend when they hanged out with Leo. But when Rona left, naturally she broke off contact with everyone else. And Sharon didn't dare contact her because she knew the real truth about what the dragon clan was planning but didn't tell her, letting Leo sweet talk and deceive her. She also overheard them making plans to kill Kaiser, but knowing it would benefit her own blood brother, she kept quiet and offered subtle background help. And when Rona found out Leo's deception, she naturally realized that all those Leo's friends she thought were also hers didn't like her one bit. Sharon might feel a little guilty and regret towards her, cherishing those memories full of deception. But as for Rona, the only thing left in her heart was hatred. And it has seeped into her bones.
"Rona, please stop. We're in front of the martial arts arena. A sacred place of learning. Let's…" She began to say again.
"And so what? When the seven of you blocked my way you didn't realize that a commotion was not supposed to happen here. But when I decide to fight back, it suddenly became against the rules, is that it?" Rona growled, not making any attempt to let go of the other edge of Amber's weapon.
"They were just joking with you. Things do not need to go that far." Sharon whispered, trying to play the friend card with her.
"How about I poison your brother and use it to joke with you? How about I tell you to your face that I will kill him? Do you like this kind of joke? Should I set your house on fire so that you guys would have a reason to laugh? When you all blocked my way, I ignored them, but they kept stepping out of line. I ignored you being with them, but you still kept disappointing me every time you open your mouth. You're just like the rest of them." Rona whispered, her eyes filled with the pains of betrayal.
"You're going too far. How can you say such ridiculous things as joking with someone's life?" Another of the girls with them shouted, forgetting they did the exact same thing to Rona a while ago. It was okay to tease her and remind her that her brother's soul was missing a part due to the soul shard fiasco and that he might die anytime soon. However when she returns the favor, she becomes unreasonable and wicked for insinuating that a cousin might die from poisoning.
Sharon was stunned by Rona's outburst.
"Rona, what's wrong with you today? This is not you. You're not unreasonable, nor do you ignore the familial bonds between cousins. Did someone piss you off earlier today?"
Rona looked at Sharon her eyes red and full of blood lust.
"Who are you to think you know me? Who do you think you are to guess my thoughts and actions? You don't know me."
"What are you talking about? It's me, Sharon. Rona, calm down. They were only joking. Why did you change so much. Why are you like a different person today?"
"That's right! You don't know me. The Rona you thought you know is already dead. Behave yourself and stay out of my way. Otherwise this monster you all turned me into will devour you without mercy, I won't spare even the bones."
"Hmph! Big talk. I want to see if you truly have that ability." A voice said from above. It was a young man riding on a black sword, dressed in black cultivator robes, with the left part of his face covered with a black mask.
A smile appeared on Amber's face on seeing her elder brother coming down.
"It's senior Jian Yue, the wielder of the moon sword."
The dragon clan was multi racial, with many of the men marrying from Chinese and Japanese martial arts families to form connections. So the names often vary. That's why there are names with different meanings and language, and siblings might have different names, because more often than not, one of the children will be named by their mom or maternal grandfather.
Rona smirked, pretending not to see him and pulled hard on the whip, taking advantage of Amber's split second of distraction. The smile on Amber's face on seeing her brother froze as she found herself flying high into the air. She quickly tried to steady herself mid air, but it was impossible. Rona flung her with so much force that she found it difficult to summon internal energy.
Jian Yue quickly soared into the air and caught his sister, landing lightly on the floor.
"Keep your dog leashed. Otherwise, people might use it to make stew." Rona said coldly and turned to leave.
"Stop right there!" Jian Yue roared, but Rona didn't pay him any attention.
"Why are you angry because of what we said? Did we lie? You only have yourself to blame for killing one of your brothers and bringing the other one to death's door. Instead of trying to take out your anger on us, go kill yourself, you foolish waste of a girl. You're not qualified to be our cousin, you dirty our clan, sucker. You're such an idiot." Michael shouted after her, but she didn't bother to turn around. She didn't want to fight Jian Yue to avoid complications. Otherwise, she might inadvertently reveal something when pushed to a desperate situation. Shocking the clan by beating those in her range was still acceptable. But not immediately dying within the first three minutes of fighting Jian Yue will set off an alarm among the clan's upper echelon.
Rona got into her motorcycle and drove off. The moment she left the area, the tears began to fall silently, blurring her vision. No matter how angry she was, she knew that they spoke the truth. She harmed her two brothers with her own hands. While every other person killed people to help their brothers secure a better future, she killed hers to help others achieve their aims. Her eyes were filled with pain and self loathing as she drove around the clan, not noticing the tears falling, or the hatred and desire for vengeance clouding her heart. The blood from the wound from Amber's whip kept dropping steadily, soaking her clothes. But she barely noticed the torn flesh, nor her once fragile hands now filled with calluses from practicing too hard with the sword.
And most importantly, her eyes no longer resembled the pouty Rona, the famous spoiled princess of the dragon clan. In its place was that of a broken beast with nothing left but pain and a desperate need to survive. The innocence in her heart was long gone. Just like everyone in the dragon clan, she had successfully transformed into what they were—a demon.
