MEYER FAMILY, THE DRAGON CLAN
Kaiser's helicopter landed at the helipad in their mansion. His assistant and one of his ghost warriors were with him. He had just returned from one of his research bases, after managing to shake off the stalkers following him, probably trying to find out where the drugs were being produced. On entering the mansion, he met the house servants waiting for him.
"Welcome, young master."
Kaiser nodded, maintaining his characteristic emotionless face with the two cold chips of ice he had for eyes.
"How about my mother? Is she fine?"
"Yes, sir. The madam has already gone to bed. Also, the doctor did the routine check, she's fine, and her blood pressure has returned to normal."
Kaiser nodded and turned towards the stairs.
"Sir, should we serve your dinner now? Do you have any special demands?"
"I still have work to do. It's still 9 p.m. You can serve dinner by twelve, or whenever I ring you guys. As for what to make, I leave that up to you. I'm not exactly picky about food." He replied and continued upstairs.
The eldest maid sighed heavily the moment Kaiser left.
"He works too hard to live up to expectations. He has to worry about protecting his mom and sister from getting hurt by the other branches sick with rivalry. He's way too young for this level of burden. He barely eats, he doesn't even have the time to get a proper sleep. He has to work on his cultivation and practice martial arts, lead numerous research to ensure the companies under his control continue making rapid progress. Watch his back consistently to avoid being backstabbed or attacked by the thousands of people out for his blood, he has to guard against attacks from the dragon clan all the time. Lord Kaiser also has to pick up the slacks his father dropped, and make sure the family doesn't decline. At a time when people his age are going to clubs and still trying to figure out their dreams, he's already carrying such a back breaking burden. For a boy his age, it's too heavy. No wonder I have never seen a genuine smile on his face."
One of the younger maids smiled and shut her eyes.
"Our Lord Kaiser is not a boy. He's a powerful and ruthless man, more decisive than any we have known. In the midst of crouching tigers and poisonous serpents, he remains the imperial dragon, the undisputed ruler over all he oversees. Our lady is really lucky to have such a good son. From his childhood, he has always been like this, arrogant, domineering, and powerful, a perfectionist in all he does."
"I have seen him smile." Someone suddenly interrupted, making everyone's attention turn to her.
"What?" The initial speaker asked, feeling confused about what she was referring to.
"Lord Kaiser. I have seen him smile before. Not the wicked, evil smirk filled with disdain that he always shows—a real genuine smile from his heart." The girl clarified, confusing them the more.
"You must be mistaken. Lord Kaiser is always so strict. What could possibly make him smile?"
"When the first young master, Sir Anthony returned, I saw him smile. Not just once. And the smiles were filled with genuine happiness." The girl insisted.
As if a bell went off in their mind, they immediately nodded in agreement.
"That's right, he was truly happy when he saw his elder brother. He was probably hoping that there was finally another competent sibling in the house to share in the burden. It's too bad that the dragon clan felt threatened by the return of young master Anthony and went to great lengths to get rid of him."
"That's right. It would have been nice to have a second person beside him. Look at Brent, he's not as competent as our young master, but he has lots of influence due to his brothers supporting him in the background. But our young master has no one, everyone has to depend on him. It must be too tiring for him."
"Maybe the dragon clan already knew that young master Anthony produced many drugs that solve impossible cases, that must be the reason they did everything possible to eliminate him. Just like Lord Kaiser said in his interview."
They sighed simultaneously as if they had the same brain cell.
"I wonder if our young master will ever smile again."

Kaiser was in his office on the floor dedicated to him listening to the servants discuss downstairs. They would never have expected that Kaiser could hear all they said. Due to his enhanced hearing and deep cultivation, he could hear everything going on in the house. That's why he often discovers people trying to betray the family. But most times, he makes efforts to avoid inadvertently listening to people inside the privacy of their rooms as that would be disrespectful.
He opened the window and looked at the sky with a hint of nostalgia.
"Anthony, did you hear that? They said the only time I ever smiled was with you. You need to come back so that I can smile again. You absolutely can't die. Don't dissapoint me. Otherwise, I will never forgive you."
After a few minutes, he returned to his revolving chair before his desk and sat down.
"Show yourself."
The moment he spoke, a cluster of black smoke appeared before him and morphed into a young man wearing a black hoodie.
"Greetings Lord Kaiser."
"Go on, what did you find out? Has Leo made contact again?"
"The young mistress has been training relentlessly, and her cultivation is increasing rapidly. She has also made significant improvement in her mental state. She no longer flies into uncontrollable rage at the slightest provocation." The person in hoodie replied.
Kaiser smirked and turned on his computer system.
"Of course, who does she have that will pay attention to her and deal with her tantrums? She only became unruly because I pampered her too much."
"Yes, sir. Also, she has been paying more attention to her studies and contacted her old tutors to carry on with her classes. She also bought stocks with her savings and has begun to pay attention to business and politics. The young mistress seems to have grown up. As for Leo, the times they met at training centers, she never acknowledged him."
Kaiser nodded, tapping his hand against the table.
"Have you found information about the person who tipped me off that dragon clan was about to hurt Anthony?"
"Of course, sir. She's Ava Smith, from one of the subordinate families under the dragon clan who is under your father's jurisprudence. She was the girl who was kidnapped to ghost island alongside your brother. It appears that she became attached to him after going through life and death situations with him, and began to stay with him until he returned to the dragon clan. The Smith family knew what the dragon clan elders were planning and locked her up to prevent her from interfering. And her people couldn't move fast enough. She was devastated by the news of his disappearance, but has gone back to her duties. However, her position in her family became unstable due to her disobedience and working against the Smith family's interest."
"Why didn't she return with Anthony? Why have I never heard about her from him?"
"From the results of the investigation, she likes the young master. But he has no feelings for her. He repeatedly ignored her and treated her like a mere acquaintance, a friend at most."
"Perfect!" Kaiser whispered, nodding, seemingly satisfied with the news.
"This is the kind of woman he needs in his life. A woman who is obsessed with him, without him having feelings for her. This will enable him to remain clear headed in all his decisions. You know what? Since her position in the Smith family became unstable, set up a meeting with her. She's the perfect pawn that can be sharpened into a poisonous dagger. Arrange for her to take over a recently listed company, and instruct her to make as many connections and influence as possible. I will help her become the most powerful member of the Smith family and mold her into a perfect pawn. Once the first phase of testing is done, bring her for her first mission before she receives further support from us."
"Yes, sir."
The man looked compliant at the surface but couldn't help but think about how dangerous Kaiser was. He couldn't help but pity Ava Smith. Once she becomes Kaiser's pawn, there will be no going back. As the price of betraying him was one no one could comfortably bear.
"I won't harm her." Kaiser suddenly said, making the man's heart skip multiple beats.
"Excuse me?" He stuttered, cold sweat covering his skin. How did he know what he was thinking? Wasn't this too terrifying? Could this still be within the realms of what a human could do?
"I won't harm her, I'm not that bad. I'm actually very kind."
'Very kind? Shouldn't that be absolutely ruthless? My grandfather! If you're kind, I wonder if another person deserves to be called ruthless.' The man thought, wiping the sweat away. He may be a fearless warrior, one of the best in the entire world. But before Kaiser, he was just another obedient subordinate. Kaiser had this way of making himself superior to everyone around him.
