The sounds of horses thundering against the dusty path rent the air. Anthony was riding fast along a forest track, two horses followed behind him. Xinglan carried Miao Miao on hers, while Tong Tong drove alone. Her red eyes were filled with determination and there was none of her initial timidity in her eyes as she urged her horse to gallop faster.
Anthony's ears picked up some movements from the nearby forests making him slow down and turn to look at the girls. He smirked and signalled them to go faster. Xinglan unsheathed her sword, her hair flying behind her, her boots on the stirrups were slightly dusty, and her left hand tightened on Miao Miao's waist.
Her eyes were filled with rage, the traitors kept pursuing them from such a long distance, even after burning the entire village and forcing them to run.
Anthony drew his horse to a stop, letting the girls overtake him.
"Alright, you can come out now. I know you guys are here for me."
There was a slight rustling in the nearby bushes and six burly men came out from the nearby bushes, holding weapons. They were all cultivators. The old man who had initially spied on Anthony as he treated the victims also came out, laughing.
"Hahahahaha. You truly have sharp eyes, very competent, as expected of an heir from a first class family, truly vigilant. Hahahaha."
Anthony smirked, then laughed.
"Hahahahaha." His eyes turned cold without warning, and all previous traces of smiles on his face disappeared.
"Cut the crap. What did you come for?"
The old man sighed and nodded.
"As expected, you're truly straightforward. Then, I won't waste your time. Hand over the immortal herbs on you."
Anthony smirked, looking at the man.
"Is this senile dementia? Or are you just foolish?" He asked, staring down at the man.
"I didn't come with the intention to harm you. But if you make this difficult, then don't blame me for what happens from here on."
Anthony smiled and cocked his head to the side.
"I already told you, I no longer have any such herbs on me. I used it up while trying to help my friends. I no longer have herbs of such qualities on me. You have wasted your time by coming here."
The old man's eyes narrowed dangerously and he took a meanancing step towards Anthony, probably to intimidate him.
"Little boy, did you think I'm here to play with you? Hand it over immediately, and I might consider letting you live."
"Hahahahaha. I have never seen such audacious thieves engaging in daylight robbery with such a thick face. Wow. The people of this area truly have unique ways of doing things."
"Little boy, listen to Da Hui. Having treasures isn't necessarily a good thing, especially when you do not have the ability to protect them. What will a small boy like you without knowledge of the world do with all those treasures? Hand it over, otherwise, you will be calling down troubles for yourself." One of the men said, gathering his energy, ready to make an attack.
"I already said I do not have any herbs on me." Anthony growled, his eyes turning red with anger.
The audacity! When did it become the turn of vagrants to tell him if he deserved what he had or not? What will a small boy like him do with treasures? Wow! Small boy like him can scheme, sacrifice, shed his blood and sweat to gather treasures, yet he doesn't deserve to have them. Amazing!
He had encountered many thieves since yesterday when they escaped from the siege in the village, all coming for the treasures on him. But this group right before him was the most ridiculous of them all, approaching him with so much haughtiness, self righteousness and arrogance. As if the items were certain to end up in their pockets.
"Little boy, are you trying to deceive us, or are you trying to test our patience? Do you take us for fools?"
"Exactly! You all are fools…despicable, pathetic fools. I already said I do not have anything on me yet you're here yapping dust. Do you have a death wish?" Anthony snapped, pulling his horse.
His horse immediately kicked the person closest to them, knocking him away.
"You! We have not attacked you, yet you're already making the move. Do…"
The old man cut off the speaker's words with a wave of his hand, and nodded, looking at Anthony.
"Since you said you no longer have the immortal herbs on you, hand over your storage ring. Let's search it to make sure."
Anthony was stunned for a while, doubting if he truly heard such a ridiculous thing.
"You want me to give you my storage ring, so that you will check if there's anything you fancy in it. Ha! What if I refuse? Doing that is impossible."
"Then you leave us with no option. Be wise now, hand over the treasures on you, maybe we can still let you walk away with your life."
"You might have plans to let me leave alive, but I have no plans of sparing any of you. Greed and covetousness is truly a huge vice, one of the biggest problems of the world. So, I'm gonna rid the world of evil elements like yourself. You want to rob me, but you should have asked yourself if you have that ability before coming here. Just like a stupid chick you walked into the trap yourself. Don't expect to escape."
The old man burst into laughter, as if he heard the funniest joke in the world, soon his men joined him, slapping their thighs, their shoulders shaking in mirth.
"Ah? He won't let us off. Hahahahaha."
"Young man, look around you. Do you think you can escape? I know you killed the previous groups that came before us, and that's probably the reason you're strutting around like a peacock. You truly compared us to those wastes. Hahahahaha. Young man, you're too weak to do anything about us. And for your arrogance, we no longer have any plans of letting you leave with your life. Let's see who is at the mercy of whom."
Anthony yawned, not hiding his boredom.
"Are you coming together? Don't waste my time by making me kill you one by one."
"Truly arrogant. We're all grand master level cultivators, and the clan master here is at the martial ancestor realm. Do you think you have a chance against us?"
The old clan master's face had turned red from anger from being humiliated and casually dismissed by a young man who had not even grown hairs down there.
"Fine, don't blame me for not being lenient. I gave you a chance, you just don't know how to appreciate favors. Attack!"
