BAM!
BANG!
Jim's fist struck one of the men who swung his metallic bat toward him, and the force of the punch was enough to lift the man off his feet. Blood spilled from his mouth as he went flying back into the crowd of other men, causing them to stumble backward in shock.
The men looked up, eyes widening as scales began to appear on Jim's forearms. His eyes slanted menacingly, and steam seeped out of his nostrils as he stood a few feet away from Max, hands clenched tightly while his gaze cut through the remaining foes.
"Anybody that dares take a step forward, I will make sure they don't recover from it easily." Jim threatened, and the men glanced down at the one he had just struck, now knocked out cold.
Glancing back toward the double doors, the men shook their heads, let out a collective roar, and charged forward with renewed determination.
'Their loyalty to their leader is commendable. Let's see how well Jim fights them,' Max thought, crossing his arms as he observed the fight about to erupt.
"Fools." Jim scoffed, pushing one foot back and leaning forward. Claws materialized along his hands, glinting sharply in the dim corridor light.
BANG!
A thunderous impact echoed as the newly turned dragon bolted forward straight into the oncoming men, stunning several of them. They were momentarily shocked by the sheer speed and power he exuded.
The moment he reached the middle of their ranks, however, they quickly regained their composure. Several men swung their metallic bats at him with full force.
'I don't know why. I used to feel scared of strong people and even fighting itself before. But even though it has been less than a day since I turned into a dragon, I feel fearless!' Jim thought, pivoting backward at blistering speed to avoid a horizontal swing aimed at his head.
Another man leaped into the air, metallic bat raised vertically above his head, and came crashing down toward Jim's bent back. In one swift movement, the dragon spun on his heels, causing the man to crash heavily into the ground.
Not letting up, Jim smashed his foot into the man's side, lifting him off the ground before hurling him into a wall. Blood sprayed from the man's mouth on impact.
WOOOOSH!
Something hurtled through the air with immense force, and Jim spun around, catching it between two fingers and bringing it to a halt. Looking down, he realized it was a dagger.
"Look out, fool!" Max shouted. Jim quickly lifted his scaled hand, narrowly blocking a bat swinging at full speed.
BAM!
The bat struck his forearm with immense force, snapping almost instantly. Jim felt only a slight throbbing in his hands, his scales remaining completely undamaged. The man, on the other hand, staggered backward, stunned by the counterattack.
Baring his fangs, Jim darted forward, smashing his palm into the man's abdomen. Saliva shot out as the man's body blasted backward, colliding with other attackers and sending them crashing into a wall.
CLATTER!
A bike chain swung toward him, and Jim deftly lifted his arm, letting the chain wrap around it. One of the men, wielding a crudely made spear, darted forward and thrust it toward the hunter.
Jim yanked his arm back, causing the chain-wielder to lose balance and lunge directly toward him. With a swift motion, the hunter grabbed the man by the neck and hurled him at the spear-wielder, who was almost upon him. Both men flew through the air and slammed into the wall with a resounding crash.
'Impressive. His strength really is on par with when I was a dragon scion. He used to be so weak that even a D-rank hunter could bully him, and now look at him, dismantling men after men all by himself.
Too bad he doesn't have any draconic abilities for now. I made the right choice by turning him. If someone as weak as Jim could become a fearsome fighter in about ten hours of being turned, I wonder how dangerous someone already physically strong as a human would be.' Max thought, his eyes calm and calculating as he watched the carnage unfold.
"It's obvious that this is his bodyguard, and he is the strongest out of the two. Let's go, take down the other spectator instead!" One of the men shouted to the remaining forces who were attempting to flank Jim.
Hearing the shout, ten men managed to bypass Jim, who was still surrounded by some others. Tilting his head slightly, he could see the men charging straight at Max, who stood a few metres away with his arms crossed, calmly observing the chaos.
'Oh, big mistake,' Jim smirked inwardly, pivoting slightly to prepare for whatever came next.
'I wonder, are humans really just that foolish? How can you simply assume I am the weakest by just looking at me?' Max thought with a quiet sigh as he watched the ten men closing in, now only a metre away from his position.
'Anyway, let's just get this over and done with.'
[Ruler's hand Activated]
Max's right hand instantly began glowing a bright, electric blue. He lifted it forward, and immediately, the ten men's bodies shimmered with the same blue aura.
Their limbs stiffened uncontrollably as they began floating in the air, legs flaring and arms flailing. Shouts and screams erupted from them, loud enough to draw the attention of the other five men still engaged in combat with Jim.
"Wh…wh…what is happening? Who are these people?!" One of the five shouted, his throat suddenly dry, panic overtaking him in a split second.
"Fetch me your leader," Max coldly ordered. With a flick of his wrist, the ten men were sent hurtling through the air. They slammed into the massive double doors with a tremendous crash. The force of impact was so intense that the entire set of doors collapsed instantly, splintering into pieces and leaving the doorway wide open.
