"Hahaha, Old Lord, why aren't you concocting alchemy in the heavens, and what brings you here?"
The Lord shook his head with a smile, "I came to recall my two pupils. The Bodhisattva Guanyin has repeatedly requested me to let them descend to test you. Now that the tribulation is over, let them go."
Sun Wukong was reluctant, having put in a lot of effort to subdue these two demons, and now they were to be released just like that?
The Lord laughed and joked with him, but you better not take the Lord's words as a joke.
With a wave of the horsetail whisk, the treasures on Sun Wukong's body returned to him, and with a point towards the Purple Gold Gourd, Jin Jiao and Silver Horn flew out and appeared in their true forms.
"Greetings, Master." *2
Sun Wukong grimaced in pain, thinking that with this treasure he could have traveled westward as he wished.
But seeing the Lord could retrieve items from him with just a wave of his hand, he wasn't a foolish monkey after all.
The Lord comforted with a chuckle, "Hurry and save your master."
After saying this, he turned and brought Jin Jiao and Silver Horn back to Doushuai Temple. Kuimu Wolf was barely adequate at keeping the fire, but could hardly compare to using his two pupils.
Sun Wukong returned to the Lotus Cave, where all the little monsters had already vanished. Jin Jiao and Silver Horn truly were righteous bosses; they released the master and disciples, and after eating, drinking, and resting in the cave, they resumed their journey.
...
On a nameless Immortal Island deep in the East Sea, Nezha and Jin Ling were nestled together watching the rising sun.
Their relationship had grown intimate through deep conversations, and Jin Ling's gentleness left Nezha a bit enchanted, even to the point of wondering if living like this wasn't so bad.
What was he fighting so hard for?
Leaning against Nezha, with his mana retracted, Jin Ling suddenly spoke, "Will you be leaving?"
Nezha: ???
What is this?
"Moderate rest can ease your fatigue, but prolonged indulgence in gentleness will only erode your will."
Nezha was speechless. He understood Jin Ling's intentions were for his own good, but since when did a wife kick her husband out during the honeymoon?
Seeing Jin Ling Saint Mother's expression become gradually serious, Nezha chose to respect it. His path was indeed hard to explain to others; he couldn't just say he wanted more intimacy, could he?
Thanks to Jin Ling Saint Mother, his second corpse was almost complete; he simply couldn't control his affection.
In short, cultivating the desire aspect of the second corpse went smoothly, and he indeed should follow Jin Ling Saint Mother's advice, not seeking temporary pleasures.
Nezha kissed Jin Ling's cheek and stood up, saying, "Then, senior sister, I'll leave now."
Jin Ling nodded, as if the relationship between them had not changed, watching Nezha's departing figure for a long time. What she said to Nezha was just as much meant for herself.
For a person pursuing cultivation, chasing the Great Dao should be the primary goal in life; Nezha lingered in her heart, and she too wished to always be with Nezha.
Yet both had higher pursuits.
She waited until she could no longer sense Nezha's presence before returning to Golden Turtle Island. Her senior brother certainly had thoughts about the Saint position, and having her there to observe would likely prevent excessive actions.
On the other hand, Nezha returned to the starry sky, feeling contemplative. The beauty ploy is truly timeless. The core of the beauty ploy lies not in the beauty itself but in grasping the emotional weakness of others.
Of course, a person can't be too lacking.
The care Jin Ling Saint Mother showed for Nezha's well-being, however, moved him deeply, igniting the love within him.
With this heart, he began seclusion. Before long, Nezha discovered the opportunity to cut out his second corpse.
His love for Daji, Long Ji, Jin Ling, Yunxiao, Guanyin, and other close female immortals magnified infinitely within, eventually reaching a certain peak after some cultivation.
Nezha, without hesitation, performed the steps of separating and cutting, using the Chaos Bell as a carrier. A Nezha in pink robes, with a word "love" engraved on the Chaotic Sky Silk on his head, and dressed somewhat flamboyantly, emerged.
Having gone through this before, the separation of obsessions was done more meticulously this time, resulting in significantly fewer side effects than last time. Describing Nezha's current state felt somewhat like a sage mode.
Is humanity merely a vessel for genes?
What indeed is the origin of time and space?
Is there an absolute order opposed to Chaos?
Nezha pondered these philosophical questions, while the pink-robed Nezha expressed disdain.
"What's the point in thinking about these? Better to go admire some legs."
Nezha thought his corpse-cutting avatar was so vulgar. Couldn't it aspire for something higher?
Perceiving the awareness from his main body, the pink-robed Nezha chuckled, "Then why not go to the Moonlight Cold Palace to admire some legs?"
With a thought, he recalled his corpse-cutting avatar, feeling much disdain. If he wished to see, why bother going to Guanghan Palace? He could merely have the Chang'e's perform in the Star Palace!
Nezha, having cut out the second corpse, gained enormous improvements, moving a step closer to the Saint Position.
Meanwhile, Xuanzang and his disciples passed Wuji Kingdom, resolving the Lion-Lynx Demon issue. The Lion-Lynx Demon was actually a lion raised by Manjusri Bodhisattva, different from Qiu Shou Immortal, Manjusri's mount.
The West was impoverished, and all Bodhisattvas, Buddhas, and Arhats engaged in self-entrepreneurship apart from their meager salaries. Due to Guanyin's cooperation with Nezha in planting Lotus Platforms, she was extremely wealthy.
The other two, who were close when in the Chan Sect, followed suit. One was Manjusri raising lions, and the other was Puxian raising elephants.
Qiu Shou Immortal and Lingya Immortal were ancestral figures in their respective tribes, so the two Bodhisattvas had excellent foundations for their endeavors.
This time the Lion-Lynx Demon was indeed sent by the Buddha.
Initially, the King of Wuji Kingdom did virtuous deeds and offered alms, so the West intended to bring him to Lingshan for cultivation to achieve an Arhat Fruit position. The person sent was Manjusri Bodhisattva.
Manjusri, disguised as a mortal, discussed Buddhist principles with the King of Wuji, but the king was stumped by a few words. Instead of seeking sincere advice, he, in his entitled position, refused to concede and had Manjusri Bodhisattva thrown into the river, ruining everything.
The higher-ups sent someone to assess you, and failing the test is one thing, but tossing the assessor into a river?
And the assessor was a high-ranking and authoritative leader!
This was simply self-destruction!
Normally, Manjusri could have revealed his true form and disciplined the King of Wuji right then, but he didn't. These Bodhisattvas enjoyed designing little tests for people.
He didn't resist and stayed submerged, offering a chance for the King to repent. A minor punishment with a notable story would end the matter.
If there was no repentance, they would delay indefinitely. Buddhism emphasizes cause and effect. The duration one has kept him submerged would be returned equally — very fair, right?
Manjusri was not afraid of the king defaulting on his promise. If one lifetime wasn't enough, there would be another life and another after that!
Could one flee after offending a Bodhisattva?
This is how Buddhism ends cause and effect!
Finally, Old Li learned of this, quickly invited Manjusri back, and ordered the Lion-Lynx Demon under Manjusri's command to replace the king and remain submerged in the well for three years.
Anyway, this concluded the matter. The king exchanged his three years for three days of Manjusri Bodhisattva, one of the Four Great Bodhisattvas; whether this was a profit or loss remains debatable.
However, the king's people benefited greatly; after all, it was a lion raised by Manjusri Bodhisattva, governing Wuji Kingdom efficiently and ensuring favorable weather conditions.
After passing Wuji Kingdom and traveling for over half a month, they reached Drilling No.1 Mountain, where rebellious Red Boy claimed kingship.
Red Boy, favored by Lady Yin, also discovered the whereabouts of his nemesis, Jin Can Zi.
Regarding Red Boy and Jin Can Zi's love-hate relationship, history is filled with defeats for Red Boy. He cried multiple times after losing battles. Red Boy blocking the road here is for revenge!
