The Investiture: Unlimited Blade Works Nezha

Chapter 422 Yuan Shi the Demon is Not Cowardly

The three fell silent for a moment before Tongtian finally spoke: "Elder Brother, Second Brother, given the current circumstances, hiding the truth won't solve the problem. It's better to lay everything out and brainstorm a solution together."

Yuanshi inwardly agreed but didn't speak aloud, instead tilting his head slightly with a hint of pride, as if to imply, "This is your decision, not mine."

Laozi weighed the pros and cons for a moment and nodded. Now was not the time for hesitation; resolving the issue was far more important than losing a bit of face.

Seeing his eldest brother's approval, Tongtian first formally introduced their lineage as the direct descendants of Pangu, then succinctly explained the nature of the entity and its connection to them.

After listening for a while, Nezha pieced together the situation. Based on Tongtian's current understanding, the entity within was formed through the amalgamation of the mysterious powers belonging to the three brothers and the lingering resentments of the Demon Gods in this realm. Part of its power originated from the Three Pure Ones themselves, which explained why they were helpless and had to resort to sealing it.

But compared to the Three Pure Ones, Nezha had encountered a greater variety of chaos creatures and was able to deduce even more from their discussion. The strange power wasn't merely some kind of heart demon. At this time, even the Daoist Ancestors and Demon Ancestors were likely still scheming in obscurity, far from influencing beings as powerful as the Three Pure Ones.

The entity was more likely a reflection of the chaotic attributes inherited by the Three Pure Ones from Pangu himself. Though Pangu was the first primordial being in this realm and the one who created heaven and earth, more precisely, he was a Chaos Demon God, born from the boundless chaos.

The sub-souls he cleaved—the Three Pure Ones—clearly inherited some of these chaotic traits. Yet, cultivating within the ordered world of the Primordial realm created by Pangu inevitably rendered these chaotic attributes a debilitating "debuff."

Among the brothers, Yuanshi's path in cultivation resulted in him severing the most chaotic attributes from himself.

Nezha summarized all of this with a sudden clap of his hands, an enlightened expression lighting up his face as he declared, "I see now! This entity—it must be the Yuan Shi Heavenly Demon!"

Yuanshi Tianzun's expression stiffened slightly. "Heavenly Demon is one thing, but why add 'Yuan Shi' in front? I didn't specifically create this thing myself!"

Laozi remained as calm and aloof as ever. Yuan Shi Heavenly Demon or not, as long as it wasn't named Laozi Heavenly Demon, it was of no concern to him. Tongtian, however, burst out laughing, feeling the name perfectly captured an air of rebellion.

While the group deliberated strategies, the Yuan Shi Heavenly Demon within the formation rapidly expanded several times its previous size. The Late Dao Demon God, a true Chaos Demon God, was now clearly harnessing the chaotic energy of the Three Pure Ones to construct a new form for himself. The previously pitch-black interior now revealed a tree-like shape, upon which a silver visage slowly came into focus.

The entity was no longer merely the Late Dao Demon God; it had become something entirely new.

While it couldn't restore itself to the full power of a Chaos Demon God, it had devised a strategy: if it could devour all four present individuals and flee back into chaos, given enough time, it might surpass even its former peak.

Yuanshi, being the one most intimately connected to the entity, visibly paled, abandoning any pretense surrounding its name.

"Daoist Friend, if you have any solutions, speak quickly, or else we'll have no choice but to temporarily retreat!"

Even Nezha felt a tad overwhelmed. The creature's aura had already reached the Quasi Demon God level and was still expanding. Despite being a top-tier ally to the Three Pure Ones, they had yet to attain sainthood.

Call for reinforcements?

Impossible. Besides time constraints, Nezha realized he didn't know anyone in this era well enough to summon help.

He rifled through his arsenal. Tongtian Sect Master's bamboo strips?

Nope. Beyond the issue of effectiveness, Tongtian himself was standing right here—how could he possibly explain using them?

The simplest solution was striking the Yuan Shi Heavenly Demon with the Pangu Banner; after a few hits, it would be subdued. But the banner wasn't in Yuanshi Tianzun's possession at this point in time.

Nezha's mind raced until clarity suddenly dawned in his gaze. This was his moment to shine—a chance for miracles to unfold. Success or failure was less important; in front of the Three Pure Ones, he had to maintain his bravado!

Moreover, some undefined will seemed to urge him forward: Go for it!

"Fellow Daoists, step back and watch me handle this!"

The Three Pure Ones simultaneously fell silent. So they had waited all this time for Nezha to come up with a plan, and his solution was brute force? Yet, no better option seemed forthcoming.

Tongtian meticulously examined Nezha's aura, ultimately concluding it was marginally weaker than his own. Where did his confidence come from?

Laozi observed quietly but finally spoke: "Since Daoist Friend is prepared, we shall assist to the utmost of our abilities."

Nezha nodded decisively: "Once my preparations are complete, you can retract the formation."

With that, he withdrew his energy, and the Four Symbols Formation reverted to a Three Talents Formation. Nezha took a deep breath and discreetly popped a few of Laozi's immortal elixirs into his mouth to restore himself.

While maintaining the formation and watching Nezha, Laozi's brow furrowed slightly. Those golden, round pills—familiar yet oddly unfamiliar—what exactly were they?

After recovering, twelve shimmering figures emerged from Nezha's body. The Twelve Duterrestrial Gods Evil Formation arrays began spreading across the forms, connecting their patterns into a closed loop. The twelve bodies transformed into mist, ultimately converging into a singular mass.

From within the mist, the Heavenly Creation Three Treasures—one authentic and two counterfeit—burst into heated resonance. A thunderous roar erupted from the mist, halting the expansion of the Yuan Shi Heavenly Demon. The demon rapidly began contracting and launched a frenzied assault on the formation to hinder the emergence of Pangu's physical body. Though the Late Dao Demon God hadn't participated in Pangu's wrathful slaughter of three thousand Demon Gods, he hadn't forgotten.

Unable to endure the strain, the Three Pure Ones, who had only reached the Daluo realm, swiftly withdrew from the formation. Tongtian stared at the now fully condensed gray mist, his mind awash with confusion. "Aren't we supposed to be Pangu's direct heirs? Why does it feel like you're even more authentic than us?"
