Unaware of the troubles his close friend harbored, the Hero stood alone in the heart of the mountain forest outskirts of the Holy City.
The girl closed her eyes, her gentle lashes trembling slightly. With the brewing of emotions in her heart, a crystal-clear tear slipped from the corner of her eye, falling onto the ground beneath her feet.
Where the tear fell, a clear light rose, shooting straight towards the sky, clearly visible even in daylight.
Then, the girl slowly opened her eyes, which held no sorrow or sadness, but were filled with fierce killing intent.
"...Goblin, die!"
In the next instant, the clear light transformed into a wave-like halo, spreading outward in all directions.
Though the light was not particularly bright, it swept over every inch of land, ignoring all obstacles. Every shadow and impurity was dispelled, painting the world within its realm with a layer of radiant brilliance.
Although the change was sudden and extraordinary, the surrounding creatures were not panicked by this astonishing transformation. Insect chirping was loud, and the birds sang even more joyously.
—Except for the goblins.
The goblins, which roamed nearby with twitching noses, tracking the girl's scent in the air, were swept over by the halo and fell to the ground without a sound.
Upon closer inspection, one would find that their bodies appeared to be soaked in a mist, covered in dewdrop-like droplets. These droplets were distributed in a pattern resembling a chain array, releasing paralyzing magic power deep into the goblins' flesh, immobilizing them.

The sight of nearly a hundred goblins falling simultaneously did not surprise the girl.
She raised her fist to her lips, black flames igniting on her Finger Claw, and gently blew upward.
The pitch-black sparks turned into flickering fireflies in the wind, diligently carried by the breeze, floating outward, and landing on the motionless goblins.
In an instant, ninety-one torches blazed fiercely, yet silently, with only the hot wind stirring the forest air.
[The Hero killed 91 goblins, experience +910]
The Hero watched with satisfaction as the goblin remains burned to ashes, then looked up at the sky.
"All the nearby goblins have been cleared, it's about time to head back…"
Approaching noon, the sunlight was just right, but if he didn't hurry back to the Holy City, he'd miss the midday meal.
'You're quite diligent, day by day.' Another self yawned in his mind.
'Do not neglect minor evils,' the Hero recited a teaching from the Evil-breaking Church as a response.
The other day, after making a minimal public presence in the entire Holy City, the Hero did not press the advantage to accomplish more but instead left the Cathedral early to quietly eliminate goblins outside the city.
Though goblins couldn't incite an Arcane Surge, they would flood in large numbers whenever one descended.
As inferior Magic Creatures that reproduce rapidly in environments rich in Magic Elements, gauging the activity of goblins to judge potential anomalies is a practical method.
Behind every uncontrolled disaster are twenty-nine cases of goblin abductions and murders, three hundred attempted goblin injuries, and a thousand sightings.
Though the accuracy of this data from the Evil-breaking Church pamphlet was uncertain, his past experiences always supported this view.
Therefore, eradicating every goblin encountered, uprooting them to the source, was one of the most effective means of preventing catastrophe.
Secretly deciding to promote this theoretical principle nationwide, the Hero no longer concerned himself with the goblins that had turned to ash, becoming nourishment for the forest.
Wind Moon Night lightly tightened on her thigh, and she gracefully flew into the sky, heading back to the Holy City.
"Tomorrow marks the start of the selection... and the first trial involves the Liberation Saintess, doesn't it."
The captured Black Dream Key mentioned the relic of a former Liberation Saintess, something seemingly intrinsically linked to the previous Saintess's Divine Knowledge.
The Hero did not conceal this, faithfully reporting to the old Pope. Initially intending to investigate and observe this Legacy of Liberation, she was instead informed by the Pope of unexpected information.
"Please wait patiently, then you will see it.
"Though revealing some now is harmless, as it isn't a matter requiring strict secrecy. Especially since you are the captor of the Black Dream Key, giving more details shouldn't result in complaints."
The old Pope winked at the Hero, making her smile.
However, the Pope's ensuing words quickly brought her expression back to seriousness.

♛: The Test of Chosen Shackles
'The test of putting on shackles for oneself and not being liberated...'
The relic left by the Liberation Saintess after her death was considered a minor taboo even within the Church.
Decades ago, the Liberation Saintess, coveting the Saintess position and refusing to abdicate, imprisoned the then-candidate Divine Knowledge Saintess and, dictatorially, led troops to slay a Witch Demon Scorpion nearing the Great Demon rank, ultimately meeting a tragic end at the creature's cursed maw.
Later, the Devouring Curse Demon was singlehandedly defeated by the ascendant Divine Knowledge Saintess, heralding the start of a fifteen-year Holy War with the fall of this vicious Fantasy Species.
