Girl Hero: Revenge on Goblins!

Chapter 597: Chapter D217: Riddle-Solving (2)

Despite losing the protection of the Hidden Wind, there was no heedless presence jumping out to obstruct their steps.

The Key Changing wore a faint smile, as if she were the young lady strolling in her own garden, walking lightly and bouncing along.

"Are you referring to my perception of myself?"

Upon hearing the Hero's question, after pondering for a long while, the Key Changing blinked her gray-white eyes in surprise.

She slowed her pace and gently lifted a strand of pure black hair by her ear, seemingly contemplating seriously how to respond.

Both her hair and eye color were exceedingly pure, radiating a strong sense of artificiality in every aspect.

"I guess it still bothers you, right? The enemy just attacking you agreed to the request for assistance suddenly."

A little girl, much shorter than the Hero, extended her small hand forward, her delicate fingers showing a healthy redness.

The Hero examined that flawless hand, as if it were a miniature doll, without perceiving any threat from it.

"...Yes." The Hero nodded lightly, "You haven't lost your memory, you've just completely changed your way of acting."

The Key Changing lowered her hand and said while walking:

"Indeed. Hero, since you have read my information and marked me, you should know that I—"

♛: Do not exist

"The so-called 'I', do not exist."

Unhesitantly revealing her truth, the Key Changing's smile remained unchanged.

"It's said that in the Kingdom, some wealthy mages mold the Magic Statues in their workshops or Mage Towers into beautiful women. Although I haven't found it amidst these ruins yet, it's unlikely those Great Mages would transfer this easily."

"Those mages believe that in doing so, they can enhance their ability to repel external enemies and improve their work efficiency. Whether they have verified these conclusions is another story, but regardless of how realistic, those female-shaped Magic Statues are still just Magic Statues at their core." The Key Changing explained with a soft yet orderly voice.

"Even if their appearance is molded into a woman, projecting human emotions onto them is meaningless. They are neither tender nor indifferent; all expressions are merely Magical settings."

"Even with highly integrated Magic Minds, allowing them to respond to human emotions fittingly or even beyond expectations, making it hard to distinguish reality, there still does not exist 'self'."

"Magic Statues are ultimately Magic Statues, not life, unless they are turned into Magic Creatures or reach the realm of Artificial Soul. Otherwise, when seeking the so-called self, they are inferior to even a basic Earth Element."

She looked at the thoughtful Hero.

"So, in response to your question, my answer is: I am unable to form an opinion on something that does not exist."

Upon hearing this, the Hero smiled wryly and nodded. This answer did not surprise her.

Seeing the Hero's reaction, the curve at the corner of the Key Changing's mouth expanded slightly. Then, she added a statement that the Hero did not expect, speaking in an understanding tone:

"Although you have already comprehended this point, having read all my information, you asked this question to avoid triggering the King's Commandments and to obtain more information from me, right?"

This statement made the Hero's brow twitch slightly. She looked at the Key Changing in mild astonishment, with those pure white eyes reflecting her image, calm and pure, yet seemingly able to see through her.

The Key Changing's tone held no ridicule or accusation, but rather appeared somewhat gentle.

"I am the offspring of the Angel King, the puppet of the Key of Transformation of the Black Gate, a degraded replica of the contemporary Divine Knowledge Saintess... Knowing only these is merely a piece of the whole truth."

"Although you can read my identity and nature, you cannot entirely master my memory and composition. Under the supervision of the Angel King, you're cautious about the Commandments, prudently choosing your words and deeds."

"Perhaps frequently violating the Commandments, accelerating the consumption of blessings, might be a good strategy."

The Key Changing spoke precisely what the Hero was thinking, her smile radiant.

"I am genuinely eager to respond to your curiosity and thirst for knowledge."

The girl's sweet smile remained unchanged, though her words carried a sense of regret.

"Unfortunately, my nature does not allow me to easily divulge information to you. Although my eyes now reflect only you, deeper within this existence is the imprint of another. As the 'father's' daughter, the help I can provide you is limited."

"You, you are truly candid, aren't you."

Struggling to keep up with the Key Changing's stream of words, the Hero forced herself to regain her composure, her reaction slightly slow as she blinked and spoke hesitantly.

"Candidness isn't suitable to describe me. If a self does not exist, naturally there is no so-called privacy. Since there's nothing I wish to conceal, candidness is irrelevant."

The Key Changing shook her head.

"Just as my sole thought earlier was to kill you, now I only wish to respond to your request..."
