Tea- 6
"You know you can't keep her locked away writing statements for the press the whole time Harmony is gone," Bates commented from behind his cup of tea.
The man didn't need to name the woman. The diva in Ambrosia wanted to sing out, "but I want to." She had heard enough stories from Harm's childhood. Anecdotes that the young maid had thought were funny, but were actually horrific when you thought about them. Practice kept her calm, but right now she almost wished she had a social skill to lean on.
"Why not?" She asked after taking a sip of her tea.
"Using the emergency clauses in the employment contract was smart. Harmony was technically abducted and in danger, but it only lasts ten days. Extending the state of emergency would require a legal appeal. The days you bought me have allowed me to bolster our ranks and keep an eye on the woman's attached crew. I don't think the actress knows who signed on with her, as long as they were stroking her ego. Harmony will also be disappointed if we don't squeeze all the connections out of her before we discard her." Bates answered coolly.

Cold, practical, and all business. Harm should have left him in charge. Lady White hadn't. That meant the choice was on her shoulders. What were her strengths? Standing on stage, one of the centers of attention with her band. Organizing closets? Commanding her birds? Two more levels as a tamer, and she'd evolve too, maybe then she'd have a class or profession to help here? There's no point in wishing for something that hasn't happened yet.
Ambrosia finished her cup of tea.
"Fine. Her work contract has clauses to allow her to perform on stage and cultivate those connections during parties afterward. We'll need a team to handle the parties. But I'm going to make her suffer for it. It's time our queen of the stage got used to being in the shadows. I'll want her in non-staring roles. Lady Danbury in Punactious Pella. The Hag in Blood Cursed Academia. The masked maiden in Princess and Prisoners. Her face will be completely covered in that one. This will not be a joyful experience."
"I'll make sure it is arranged." Bates stood up, clearing both cups of tea. "Ambrosia, chin up. We'll have the household set up for Harmony's return. Where others inherited theirs, we'll get to build one from the bones up."
