Aqua
I figure several things out about the blood creatures as I continue destroying them. And I say destroying instead of killing because they're not living creatures.
They're just shapes controlled by some sort of magic – most likely a trait of the monster's – formed of its poisonous blood.
Which also means devourer won't work on them.
So I can't heal during this fight. Outside of my regeneration.
And thanks to that, the poison continues to spread through me as I dig my way through the monster's body in practically every direction thanks to my abyssal servants. Slowly causing more and more pain to both me and the monster in the process.
At this point the boss is nonstop roaring in pain. Making the entire body around me tremble.
I ignore the pain to dig and dig and dig. But no matter how much I dig through the monster's body, the thing just keeps making more blood fish.
Meanwhile the 'water' in this place isn't even water anymore.
It's just the boss's black blood.
Which isn't helping me in the slightest as it's increasing the speed at which I'm being poisoned. Making the black veins continue spreading across my body.
And over time, the pain begins to fade for some reason.
I frown as I continue digging, only to realize something when my body begins to grow numb.
Shit. That's not a good sign.
Is the poison winning in the end?
I don't even know where the exit is anymore since I've dug so deep into the monster. And my abyssal servants are digging in every direction as well. Making it a maze of tunnels.
But while I'm trying to find an exit, if for no other reason than to get out and take a bit to recover from the poison, something happens.
The black blood suddenly starts to boil. Then it starts moving, writhing back and forth.
All the way until it suddenly begins flowing straight through the boss' body like a current. Pushing me along as it does.
I find myself being dragged all the way through the boss' body until I'm eventually just tossed out by the black blood. At which point I hear the monster's roaring screech echoing throughout the entire sea as the black blood spills out to flood the sea around it with poison.
I take advantage of this to summon tentacles and fling myself far away from the boss. Sending me out of the poison in the process.
And the moment I do, I see the thick, glowing black veins that are now visible shining through my armor slowly beginning to fade.
Very, very slowly.
But still fading.
I take a deep breath the moment I get out of the poison, only to find missiles of pressurized blood firing at me from within the black liquid quickly flowing around the boss and flooding the sea. So I summon more tentacles to block it.
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
Except this time the missiles manage to punch straight into the tentacles. Entering and poisoning them without a care for their defenses.
Just like how the poison has been ignoring my armor.
My eyes widen at the sight of the scales turning pitch black, with several of them starting to rot.
Holy shit…
Does this poison turn things into undead?!
[Wait, the poison turns things into undead?!]
[Doesn't this mean Aqua's been turning into an undead this whole time?! Is she okay?!]
[That's not good…]
[But, wait, the black veins are fading, right?]
[Does that mean she's fine?]
[Probably her regen.]
This is unexpected…
What would've happened if I stayed in the poisoned area? Would I really become an undead myself?
Or would it have eventually reversed thanks to my regeneration?
I'm not sure. All I know is that the effects of the poison are very slowly reversing.
On another note, it looks like the poison doesn't affect my abyssal servants. Although I'm not sure why.
Maybe because they're just made out of mana and some energy? Not actual flesh.
That could be it.
The enormous boss continues to roar and screech in pain as more and more black blood floods out of the thing's body through its eye. Only for it to finally close its scaled eyelid.
But even that doesn't fully stop the blood as it continues to seep out from the cracks of the scale.
And to make matters worse for the monster, I see some black blood beginning to leak out from its mouth as well. Making me believe that at least one of my abyssal servants managed to break into its digestive system.
The monster continues to roar and screech in pain. And at some point, blood fish begin slowly making their way out of the boss' mouth.
That said, it's only slow at first. Because they quickly begin to exit its mouth faster and faster.
Then I watch as all the black blood flooding the sea begins to turn into blood fish as well. Following which the fish all rush straight at me.
I grin as I realize something.
This boss doesn't have infinite blood. Which means it'll eventually run out.
So all I have to do is destroy all the blood fish without dying. Then I should be able to finish off the boss.
The only annoying thing about it is that I have to destroy them by having my abyssal servants devour them.
After all, I learned in the boss' body that when they're destroyed, all they do is just splatter in their surroundings. The black blood isn't actually destroyed.
So it'll just reform itself to make more blood fish after they're destroyed.
The only thing that stops that from happening is having my abyssal servants devouring them.
And, of course, using Maw of the Abyssal Kraken.
With that thought in mind, I use up the last of my mana to summon forth the Maw of the Abyssal Kraken as swarms of black blood fish begin swimming towards me in waves. Only for them all to be drawn towards the maw as they get gobbled up nonstop.
All the way until the maw finally fades away again, running out of time and mana to be out.
At which point I use my amulet. Refilling my mana completely before I start summoning swarms of abyssal servants that I send rushing at the black blood fish.
I grin as I see the boss' limbs trembling. Like it's struggling to hold up its own weight.
Meanwhile my abyssal servants clash against the blood fish like some large scale war.
With my abyssal servants devouring the fish and the fish tearing my servants to shreds.
I continue summoning my abyssal servants back whenever they're destroyed though. And the boss continues sending more blood fish out of its mouth while trembling more and more.
Until the boss's legs finally give way. Leading to it falling to the ground.
Making the ground beneath the sea tremble like some sort of earthquake just swept through it.
Which makes sense considering that the boss is over a kilometer in length.
It's just straight up enormous.
Larger than a mountain.
But it still continues to spew out blood fish in a nonstop flood that clashes with my own abyssal servants. Even as the eyelids on its sides all begin to open as if on reflex.
It's growing weaker and weaker.
The only questions now are whether it'll die before I run out of mana again and if it'll die at all without me destroying some sort of special organ or core.
Some undead don't die from things like this after all.
For all I know it could survive losing all of its blood. Even if it won't be able to move.
Time passes as my army continues devouring the black blood until the flood of blood fish gradually slows down. Following which it turns into nothing more than a trickle, and my abyssal servants finally begin to push back against the black blood fish.
Making their way towards the boss.
At which point all the signs of the poison are nearly gone from my body, including the black veins.
A grin begins to spread across my face at my regained sense of feeling.
Time to finish this.
