Keeper Of Demonic Forces [A Paranormal Vigilante Action Fantasy Story]

Extra Chapter 1: Aftermath Council

Third Person

~

The Night of Kirai's Attack...

The door to the Council Chamber shuts with a resounding thud that boncues off the stone walls on the now empty room.

Empty save for the six figures perched atop their thrones as they had watched the last of their special guests leave.

Tokiya is first to break character, slumping in his chair and groaning louder than should be necessary, "Finally~"

The remaining Council members except Shigeru and Yasushi follow suit in varying stages of exhausted complaining.

"What a night," Hayahiko whines, "Let's go home already, I don't want to deal with this anymore."

"Eh? You hardly said anything!" Motoichirou clicks his tongue, tugging down his red tie to get to the button off his shirt.

"That's because the only thing you guys ever do is argue," She yawns, "So tiring."

Shigeru sighs, "I understand, how you feel but there's still much to be discussed-"

Her statement is interrupted by the sounds of splintering wood, as multiple shards of floating glass attack the row of seats to the left of the chamber. Lady West waves her hand as if conducting an orchestral performance, paying little attention to the glares and stunned expressions thrown her way.

"West! What on the three planes-" She holds a finger up, cutting Tokiya off as the shards fade leaving one larger piece floating over with a lone dark feather ruffled and trembling from the assault. She picks it up from the pane inspecting it with a fond grin, "He's so cute when he thinks he's being sneaky."

A spark flares in her palm, consuming every strand until there's nothing left but ash which she dusts off her person, "We can now speak freely, hm?"

"Standing in that direction outside so we'd think it was just his Energy," Yasushu scowls, "We'll need to keep an eye on that one."

"We'll have to keep an eye on all of them!" Tokiya is clutching at his clothes, face buried in one hand, "A blood magic user, a Keeper and a Light magic wielder all on the same team?! It's too much! Why did I let you guys talk me into ignoring this for so long." He's breathing hard with every sentence, "Ah, I want to study them so bad, I need answers!"

Wearing a disgusted expression, Motoichirou smacks him over the head, "Pull yourself together!"

"It's not our job to approve Keepers or their followers unless they prove a danger to the country," Shigeru crosses her arms with a thoughtful expression, "It's a miracle you were able to hold out this long so well done in not scaring them off."

Stolen story; please report.

"Look who's talking, Rin-san, bet you wanted to the Keepers autograph just as bad," Tokiya teases.

Her expression isn't clear behind the mask but there's a slight tremble in her voice, "N-n-n-no way, I kept things very professional! Yes, professional."

Lady West doesn't relent, "Unlike the last one, she's actually a kid Shiggy, don't try anything~"

"W-w-what are you implying?!

Motoichirou waves a dismissive gesture, pushing down his hood with his free hand to reveal carefully styled raven black hair, "They're all the same, this one's just as arrogant as the rest for being the weakest in recorded history."

"For now," Tokiya winks, his outstretched hands are trembling, "Imagine how much more she can grow if she keeps up with training under our care. She's summoned two Demons already and she can keep them during a low level battle for at least two hours even if she's drained. Beautiful, just beautiful..."

Shigeru coughs loudly, aiming to stir the conversation back on track, "For the first time in our history, We are now partners with the Keeper, but our enemy is the kind we've never seen before."

Yasushi leans back in his seat, "He's just like any other terrorist."

"No terrorist has gotten agents into our ranks for so long before," she interjects, "The spike in cracks where our forces can't quite reach, Relics we're tracking down gone before our Scouts arrive, there's so much more that makes sense now that we're sure we have a leak."

"The real kicker is how they've managed to not slip up for so long," Tokiya hums thoughtfully.

"And how long do you think that is?"

He shrugs, "We'll have to launch an investigation so what do you say to getting Inoue on it as soon as possible."

"He'll have his hands full keeping an eye on Keeper's team," Hayahiko protests tiredly, "You guys overwork that poor kid too much y'know?"

"It's true," Shigeru concedes, "Let's get his Vice Captajn on it then, she should be returning from Kyoto any day now, correct?"

"You guys have so much faith in those First Division brats," Lady West murmurs, her skeptical tone shifting to delighted inquisition on her next sentence, "What if the mole is one of them, what then?"

"The First Division can't be compromised!" Yasushi crows.

Shiheru stands, sweeping her cape behind her, "It doesn't change the fact her abilities are best suited for looking into Divisions Two to Ten."

"And who'll look into us, Shiggy, hmm?" Lady West teases.

Tokiya laughs slightly turning to her her with a false smile of friendship, "We're always looking into each other already, but if you want special attention West you'll need to be a bit more inviting..."

The sorceress pouts, "Suspicious as always, you and Kei never let me off the hook."

Motoichirou sends his coin-shaped projectile hurtling her way but she tilts her head to the side, dodging effortlessly.

"Don't speak my name so casually witch! Someone could hear!"

"That could have ruined my hair! The soundproofing spell's up isn't it?!"

"This is why no one likes you!"

"Everyone calm down," Tokiya says without much effort.

"More fighting..." Hayahiko grumbles as she ducks her head into the arm of her throne.

Yasushi leaves them walking up to where Shigeru had descended the dias, whispering, "Are sure we're in the right to put our faith in these children and those Demons?"

Shigeru, crosses her arms under her chest, nails biting into her skin out of habit as she grounds herself against what she predicts might be a slim chance of victory if all they had heard here tonight was true.

Plane Rendering Daggers, Gashadokuro, and Oracle Stone who's existence is known to no one.

It's pure madness but in the world of Magic and Demons, logical can only cover so much.

"We've fallen behind so much already, we can't let him take us for fools any longer."

The old man nods, "I'll have Scouts searching through the archives at once."
