Revive Rome: Wait! Why not make the empress fall in love with me first?

Chapter 78: Feinting a Shot (2-in-1 Mega Chapter including the evening's release as well)_2

However, after being caught up with by the two demigods, he feigned a full-force counterattack, intending to make them wary and prioritize their own safety—thus buying time to teleport and escape again.

Now, if he were to return, he would surely find the opponent had long since left the scene.

A few minutes later, Mularafak returned to the battlefield only to find that those people had already vanished without a trace. The only remaining sight was the Shadow Demon Lord Gamoduo, who with a swift and imposing strike, shattered the demigod that looked exactly like it.

"Humph! A fake is still a fake after all." Stepping on the dissipating black mist, Gamoduo said with a hoarse voice, the act of tormenting this enemy seemingly having vented much of his irritation.

Mularafak:...

Of course, he knew that the reason this false demigod was so easily killed by Gamoduo was because the Manipulator had also fled, resulting in the loss of control over the summoned being.

But at this point, he could only slyly pretend not to know this fact, and toadying up, he said,

"There is indeed no match for Lord Gamoduo, the ruler of 130 million Shadow Demons, against such summoned false demigods."

"Nonsense!" Gamoduo bellowed angrily, yet Mularafak knew very well that he was actually quite pleased with the compliment and therefore seized the opportunity to add,

"The opponent is clearly at their wit's end; otherwise, they wouldn't keep running away time after time. All we need to do is to continue exerting pressure and pursue them, and we can exterminate these treacherous humans."

"Hmm." Gamoduo seemed hesitant, "We have already chased them to the Mushroom Forest, they must have been scared out of their wits by now, and they may not dare to come back to the Big Cave anymore..."

Mularafak inwardly cursed, as he realized this brutal and mindless Shadow Demon Lord was already considering retreating. He quickly dissuaded him,

"Lord Gamoduo! Don't you forget, inside that Synthetic Human's body, there's a hoard of ancient knowledge! If we let him escape back to the Main Plane, and the Church Court gains access to that ancient knowledge, their military prowess and the extent of their control over intelligence about the Abyss will greatly increase!"

"By then, if the Observer organization directly intrudes into the Big Cave and establishes hundreds of Research Institutes in one fell swoop, where would we, Alien Races, even have a place to exist? Have you forgotten the human Expeditionary Army from over a thousand years ago?"

"Humph! They are nowhere near that level now!" Gamoduo said with a menacing tone, yet he was starting to feel uneasy inside.

Of course, he hadn't forgotten the nightmare from a thousand years ago when the human Expeditionary Army from the Main Plane had suddenly shattered the Silence of the Abyss.

Back then, he was just an ordinary Shadow Demon, oblivious to the terrifying enemy that the Abyss was facing.

It wasn't until thousands of core drilling bombs pierced through the rock walls, creating the Sea of Silence we know today with continuous vibrations and noise, that the mostly fragmented races of the Abyss went into collective madness.

But even united in resistance, they couldn't escape a tragic fate given the vast difference in strength. Dark Elves, Shadow Demons, Poison Lizards... every Abyssal Race was slaughtered after their defeat, and the few survivors fled to the lower levels of the Sea of Silence and the Big Cave, trembling in hiding, too scared to show their faces.

And those humans would still occasionally come down, slaughtering and capturing any Abyssal Race individual they could find, claiming they were needed for some "scientific experiments," and not one returned alive.

The ancient human beings... their strong and aesthetically pleasing military force, according to Mularafak, originated from what is called "science," the secrets of which were stored within the Synthetic Human.

This caused Gamoduo to feel intense regret and obsession. He regretted not having seized the Research Institutes sooner, which would have also allowed him to pry open the Synthetic Human's mouth, making him trade his so-called "science" for life.

And the near-apocalyptic power of the ancient humans, deeply rooted in his heart, made him even more irrationally obsessed.

"Chase them!" In the end, rekindled greed overcame the fear, and the Shadow Demon Lord Gamoduo said fiercely.

"Please allow me to lead the way for you." Seeing that his deception was effective, Mularafak immediately bowed in a flattering manner.

In fact, he of course knew much more about what "science" was than Gamoduo did; it was a unique system of inheritance specific to human civilization, where predecessors condensed their lifelong research on natural laws into passages of text or short lessons, passing it down to the next generations.

Study the Law, understand the Law, and utilize the Law—that is the meaning of "science" itself.

However, this thing was only suitable for ancient humans, who had short lifespans, strong reproductive abilities, lacked Spirituality, and couldn't directly perceive the Laws. Hence, they relied on "science" to study, record, and pass on this knowledge, to prevent it from being forgotten in time after an individual's death.

Demigods, of course, had no need for science, as they themselves lived incredibly long lives. Instead of spending a great deal of time (decades) studying a discipline, they would rather spend a small amount of time (a few years) perceiving their own Laws. The latter could significantly enhance the strength of a demigod, the efficiency of which was worlds apart compared to the former.

Therefore, to demigods, this thing was like a chicken rib — tasteless, yet a pity to discard. If it weren't for the fact that Mularafak was practicing a certain special Law Ability and needed to obtain a large amount of pure and useless information, he wouldn't have even considered targeting that Synthetic Human.

Looking at it now, the plan to deceive Gamoduo was going very smoothly, whereas the plan to capture the Synthetic Human had failed time and again, which was also beginning to frustrate him a little.

Teleportation.

Teleportation.

Teleportation.

Mia didn't know how many times she had teleported the group. Even with the passive Ability of Space Affinity, she couldn't withstand nearly a thousand consecutive teleports.

Luckily, Aske had plundered her Ripple Sword, which could help share the burden of her teleportation.

After teleporting from the lower to the upper levels of the Mushroom Forest, the human presence in the cavemen tribes became denser and denser.

At this rate, after at most ten more teleports, they would reach Watch Town. It was a human stronghold controlled by the Observer organization, the top layer of the Abyss, the entrance to the Main Plane, and the "Newbie Village" of the Abyss Plane in the previous life's game world.

Once there, they would be safe.

Aske was about to lead everyone to continue teleporting, when suddenly he heard shouts of surprise coming from afar:

"Hey, that one! You're Aske, right? Aske, Mia, and Miel?"

Aske turned his head to see, only to find an unfamiliar human Demigod, who was waving his hand and running towards them.

"Who are you?" he asked, pausing with slight hesitation.

"Glache. I'm a Fourth Epoch Demigod "The Azure Longsword," Glache." This stranger seemed to be a Norman, with frosty white disheveled hair and a bushy beard. "In the tavern at Watch Town, someone asked me to find you."

"Looking for us? Who?" Aske was somewhat stunned. He instinctively thought of the other girls from The Azure Longsword, but they shouldn't know how to get to the Abyss.

"Heh heh," The demigod chuckled a few times, too lazy to explain further.

He was able to find the three of them first, all thanks to a cavemen merchant with whom he was closely connected in private.

This guy had some connections in the Sea of Silence and happened to encounter two Demigods attacking a Dark Elf settlement. With the Dark Elves forced to defend themselves with all their might, leaving the temple unguarded, he took the opportunity to sneak some things out and brought them to Watch Town to help sell for money.

Conveniently, this human Demigod had also taken a mission from the tavern owner in Watch Town to find a young man who had stumbled into the Abyss with two little girls, so he casually mentioned this to the cavemen merchant.

The latter then said: I've heard that those two Demigods seem to be pursuing some human(s), maybe the one you're looking for!

The cavemen merchant had just casually mentioned this, but he immediately took it to heart and inquired in detail. After learning that they were fleeing upwards from the lower layers, he had a rough idea in his mind.

If they were indeed the three humans he was looking for, they must be making a beeline straight for Watch Town — there couldn't possibly be any place for humans to take refuge elsewhere in the Abyss.

So he went down to the Mushroom Forest from Watch Town, planning to continue into the Sea of Silence to see if he could luckily encounter these fugitives — and he actually met them in the Mushroom Forest.
