Watch Town was a small town established by the Observer organization at the entrance to the Abyss Plane.
Unlike ordinary towns that spread horizontally from a central town square, Watch Town, due to the nature of the Abyss being a downwardly extending "hole," was built vertically down the sides of the pit in a circular fashion.
This three-dimensional city layout somewhat resembled the magical urban landscape of Chongqing in China. You might think you're on the first floor, only to find yourself on the rooftop upon looking over the railing.
However, regardless of the level, looking outward from the railing revealed nothing but a bottomless darkness below.
It was like the gaping maw of a giant beast.
The demigods, accompanied by the girls of The Azure Longsword, entered a tavern embedded in the rocky wall.
Upon entering, aside from the tavern owner, there were only three customers.
However, all were of Demigod Rank, and several malicious glances swept over, causing the girls of The Azure Longsword to shiver from head to toe.
Then their faces changed as well because among the demigods around the girls... one, two, three, four, five, six, there were actually six, more than these local snakes.
So, the demigod patrons awkwardly shifted their gazes away and quietly began drinking again.
" Lena," Red-haired Otto leaned on the counter and smiled, "It's been years; you've really opened a tavern in the Abyss?"
The tavern owner, named Lena, didn't respond but continued to wipe down a glass, her eyes briefly glancing upwards.
Following her gaze, everyone looked up to see a sign hanging from the ceiling above the bar, stating "No Drinks, No Chat."
Otto: …
Out of nowhere, he procured some Spiritual Material and pushed it across the counter.
Lena expertly accepted the materials, swept them with her Spirituality, and stashed them in a drawer before asking the group:
"What'll you have?"
"Bavarian draft beer," Otto said.
"Flowing Uzo," Apilius stated.
"Polish juniper," Marquina ordered.
"Rainbow Martini," the Enchanting Demon Queen requested.
"I'll have..." Sherry started but was abruptly cut off by Lena:
"Not enough money."
Sherry: ......
She stepped back, slightly dejected, and began whispering with Derek. The four who had ordered drinks sat on the long bench by the bar, watching as Lena tapped on the table; behind the counter, bottles and glasses flew out as if manipulated by invisible hands, quickly filling four cups with various alcoholic beverages.
"Here to find out something," Otto stated.
"Ask," Lena replied.
"Have you seen these three people?" Otto spoke while the Enchanting Demon Queen, with a slight smile, sent a mental message to Lena describing the appearances and characteristics of Aske, Mia, and Miel.
"No, but I'll keep an eye out," Lena responded.
"Good," Otto nodded.
"If I find their bodies, I'll let you know," Lena said seriously.
Everyone: ......
The faces of the girls of The Azure Longsword immediately changed, while Otto still had a smile on his face as he said:
"How can you be so sure it's a body?"
"Other than being a corpse, what else could be the fate of a Transcendent who is not of Demigod Rank entering the Abyss?" Lena retorted.
"Then we can make a bet," Otto joked, "betting that these three people will come back alive."
"Cough, cough." Apilius coughed, as if hinting at something.
"I'll join too." The Enchanting Demon Queen said with a smile, her eyes fixed on Lena's cold, beautiful face, "The bet is this... what do you say?"
She sent a certain message over, and Lena's complexion slightly changed as she asked coldly:
"Why should I bet with you?"
"Just because we don't see eye to eye," the Enchanting Demon Queen said, her smile full of malice, "I am a Purgatory Demon, and you are an Abyssal Enchanting Demon. According to our Enchanting Demon customs, since we have met, we must determine our superiority. Shall we use the outcome of this bet to decide?"
Marquina burst into laughter nearby.
If it were her, she definitely wouldn't accept such a bet, as her opponent was well-prepared while she was completely unprepared, naturally putting her at a disadvantage.
However, the foolishness of an Abyssal Enchanting Demon lay in their disdain for fine and subtle plotting, preferring to act recklessly according to desire, emotions, and instincts.
In front of so many people, the mother had issued a challenge and deliberately mentioned the customs of the Enchanting Demons, leaving the opponent absolutely unwilling to appear weak by refusing.
As expected, Lena's complexion paled slightly, then she angrily said:
"Fine, but don't you regret it later!"
"I won't regret it," the Enchanting Demon Queen saw the other party take the bait and covered her mouth as she giggled, "Then, to confirm the outcome of this bet as soon as possible, shouldn't you help us find the whereabouts of these three people?"
"It's the whereabouts of three corpses!" Lena snapped, then clapped her hands, looking back at the bar, "Did you three hear that?"
"We heard it, boss lady..." a drunken patron responded.
"Find those damn bodies, and I'll write off your tab here!" Lena cursed.
The three patrons perked up. Debt cancellation meant they could run up a tab again, right?
"We're looking for these three people, the information is right here," the Enchanting Demon Queen sent the message over.
"Alright, we'll look, but you better not deny the debt, boss!"
Thus, the three Demigods donned their cloaks and swiftly left the tavern.
————————
Abyss Lower Level.
Mia activated the Ripple Sword, bringing everyone up to the upper levels.
The entire Abyss Plane was like a giant sponge, scattered with countless tiny cavities, and the town of the Dark Elves was situated in these cavities.
Mia led everyone up layer by layer through teleportation, jumping from one cavity to another. Most of the teleportation exits were either inside or outside the towns of the Dark Elves, with only a few appearing in the wilderness where there were no buildings.
Each time they appeared in a town, the arrival alarmed the nearby town guards. These Dark Elves seemed to possess some strange Extraordinary Ability allowing them to detect intruders entering their towns in real-time.
So, when Mia appeared with everyone swooshing, and then swooshed away again, the expressions of these Dark Elves were puzzled, confused, and even dumbfounded.
However, within a couple of minutes, these all turned into a unanimous fear, as two Demigod Rank BOSSes, the Shadow Demon Lord and the Mysterious Figure, followed the same route and teleported in pursuit.
They first caused earthquakes with lightning speed, scanning the Dark Elves escaping from the surrounding buildings to ensure their targets were absent, and before the Demigods of this town could arrive, they too teleported away.
