The Non-Human Society

Glossary - TNHS Glossary Index

The Non-Human Society:

The Non-Human Society is a collective of individuals, non-human and human, who support and protect one another. There are only a few thousand members left, and most live solitary lifestyles and only meet occasionally or send letters.

There are a few prominent locations, such as Telmik or Lumen, where many members live and co-exist within human settlements.

The Society has opposing factions and schools of thought within itself, but no matter how much they dissent or disagree, they in the end all work together and support one another. Even in hatred.

Although large, and with many members, the Society is barely a remnant of their past size and strength. In the last era the Society was one of the more prominent organizations, and ruled several nations. Now they have to hide, not just from the humans and their churches but even each other.

Non - Human:

The term used for a person, or creature, that is not entirely human. Usually has traits of an animal of some kind.

Bloodlines:

The term for a non-humans ancestry. Usually only brought up when concerned over interbreeding or purity.

Monarch:

A strange, powerful creature. Little is known about them, as most are now simple legends. They're devastating creatures that can wipe out an entire nation without notice. Some Non-Humans used to worship them as gods.

Monarch's Heart:

The heart of a Monarch. A strange, usually glowing, orb of crystal.

The Animalia Guild:

A guild located in Lumen. Owned by the Society and ran by it, for it.

The Societies Money Press. One of the larger human city locations within the Society, only matched by Tilmek.

Here the Society owns a massive depot, storage warehouses, and one of the finest banks in Lumen.

Gerald, the current leader of the Animalia Guild, is heavily involved in Lumen's politics.

The Church of Songs:

The religious order that Celine, and thus the Society, had formed for their own purposes. A branch of the typical religion in their region, though without all the non-human blasphemy.

Sisters of Songs:

A fellowship amongst the Church of Songs. Many of the more religious members belong to it. Although most of its members are nuns, men can indeed join it.

Saint:

For most people, a saint is a religious individual. Or at least related to it. But for others, like Vim, they are a people that have access to what he calls divine power. Though not every saint is the same, nor is every single one as strong as the last, so their powers and abilities vary.

List of known saints:

Witch - A woman who had found Renn during her youth. Was something of a teacher, maybe even a mother figure, to Renn. Died years ago.

Celine - One of the very few known non-human saints. Was also the original founder of the Society. She is gone now, having died not long after the wars, but is known not just for founding the Society but finding Vim as well.

Elaine - A human saint that lives in a small village in the north.

Prophecies:

Saints sometimes have very lucid dreams, that are rather literal in their perspective and show to them possible futures or pasts. They call these dreams prophecies, and although many do come true they usually do not always happen exactly as they foresee them.
