Wolves and Men

Book 7 chapter 16c

"None of that will matter much," Huan Li interrupted, "looking at the building blueprints, you can see that the windows surrounding the whole building are mirror windows, allowing no UV light into the building. The daylight hours, will offer us no advantage once we are inside the tower."

"I suspected that it wouldn't be that easy," Acharya said dryly.

"Getting into the Tower is that last step, we have to get there first, and several hundred people and wolves, moving through the streets of L.A. will raise some suspicions," Huan Li said.

"Can we not use the Whyte Plain?" Aceso asked.

"We could, but that many Shape shifters in the Whyte Plain at once will draw attention to ourselves, to say the least. If we can avoid a pitched battle before our assault on Dukart Tower, that would be ideal," Huan li said.

"We could split up and stagger our travel times to the tower. Have designated rendezvous points in the nearby areas and coordinate from there," Ansuya said.

"I was thinking the same thing," Acharya said. "The Bultungin and I can approach from the north spaced out over several hours, in groups of no more than ten."

Huan Li nodded, "I am thinking that would be our best option and if you want to take the northern approach, I'm ok with that."

"My pack, Dutch and Thom will come up from the south," Aceso said.

Ansuya nodded, "I will join you with the Shape shifters from the City under the Rock." Aceso nodded.

Huan Li said, "Keva, you and your pack will take the western approach. The Shape shifters from the City under the Sand will come with me from the east."

"How do we hit the tower?" Acharya asked.

Huan Li focused on the blueprints, "looking at the building's blueprints, the only way in is from the street level parking garage, and the roof helicopter access way. Since none of us can fly, we only have the one option."

"Funneling all of us down underground in the basement sounds like a perfect canalizing point, and the perfect way to reduce the effectiveness of our numbers, a clear advantage for the vampires," Ansuya said.

Huan Li nodded, "There's our primary issue. If we had someone inside, we might be able to mitigate some of that risk, but as it stands, we have only the one way in or out, and the vampires know it."

"You said none of us could fly," Keva said, "What if I could get my pack onto the roof and attack downwards, it would give the vampires something else to think about in any case."

Huan Li rubbed his chin in consideration, "How would you do that?"

If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

Keva smiled, "I can steal a helicopter."

Ansuya asked, "Does anyone in your pack know how to fly a helicopter?"

Keva shook her head, "No, but Michelle and I can be very persuasive when we want to be. Besides, name me one flyboy who would turn down not one, but two, sexy women who would be soooo grateful if he took us on a joy ride for an hour?"

Ansuya arched an eyebrow, "Without Erato, you don't have any real way to ensure that this horny flyboy you're talking about doesn't do something stupid once you leave."

Keva nodded, "yes that will be a bit of an issue. If we can make it, we'll come in from the top of the tower, if we can't we'll meet you at the garage and we'll go from there."

Huan Li nodded, "Alright, when you're airborne let us know. We need to attack the garage before you get within the airspace of the tower. We don't know what defenses this place has. I imagine it has anti-air capabilities to prevent a rival group, or us, from doing what we are about to attempt and we need to give them something else to think about before they start shooting at a defenseless helicopter."

Keva said, "You'll know when we're in the air."

Aceso studied the blueprints carefully, "Elder, if we are to work our way up from the basement level, clearing and killing as we go, even with the other Shape shifters helping us, it will be a very long and very tough fight. There're over fifty floors in this building and with the size of the building, it will take time to ensure that no vampires are left behind to come up behind us."

Ansuya said, "We could leave a rear guard to cover our flank as we move up, that will speed up our movement in any case."

"With all the multiple stairways and elevators in this tower, it will be very hard to simply station a rear guard. We would have to leave several packs and maybe some Bultungin along the routes. It's not entirely impracticable, but we need to be careful that we don't insult our allies with a less than glorious position of read guard."

Keva commented, "I would think that some of the other werewolf packs would love to stay behind and not risk themselves with the front-line fighting."

"Anything's possible," Ansuya answered. "What Huan is saying is that it took a lot of effort on our part to gather and build these alliances. We don't want to throw away everything we've gained with an idle decision."

Acharya pointed at the blueprint's center, "If these vampires are smart, and we know they are more arrogant than smart, than the protected heart of the tower shouldn't be our primary goal. If I had to guess, the Head of House Dukart will most likely be in a penthouse suite or office near the top. If Keva can get in from the roof, she will be dealing with the head of the snake long before we get two or three floors up. What is our true intention with this assault?"

Keva and Aceso looked at him as if he had just sprouted a new head, "What do you mean, Egaiarasu?" Aceso asked. "They destroyed our home and killed our people. We are going to wipe House Dukart off the face of the Earth."

Acharya arched his eyebrow at being called by his, very hard to correctly pronounce, first name by the female wolf born. "If we are to commit genocide, against vampires or not, then so be it. I just don't want there to be any confusion or misunderstandings."

"I won't stop until they're all ash," Keva said.

"My pack knows what we are here to do and they are in agreement with what must be done," Aceso said.

"Even Amanda?" Acharya asked. "She is very young and although she has seen a lot over the past few weeks, is she ready to kill in the name of justice and vengeance?"

"Are you suggesting Amanda stay back, away from her pack?" Ansuya asked.

Acharya responded, "No, I am simply stating that we have been planning for this moment for a long time. We could have lost some perspective, which I am trying to nudge us back into the proper thought pattern of justice, and not blind rage and vengeance."

"Are you saying we should call it quits and not even bother?" Keva spat.
