Nova searched his eyes deeply. Since she had been turned, she had shown a deep understanding of her new abilities. She had never once stood in awe of the things that she saw, or experienced, or felt, or had a lack of feeling for. Her first kill was elegant and merciless, as all vampires should hunt and kill humans. He had worried over if she would be as all other humans had been. She accepted what she was with a cold fire that seemed to burn away all guilt and remorse that most humans felt after they had been turned. He had been scared shitless the first time he found himself about to kill. He almost couldn't bring himself to do it. Allesandro's presence in his mind had pushed him over that precipice. Nova had needed no such encouragement.
Nova said, "Brian hasn't found the remaining werewolves, nor has he found the one who attacked you, and neither him, or you, have any real idea about why he was here in the first place. Are those the loose ends you mean, my mate?"
Not for the first time, Kenneth's anger over being read so easily was overridden by the sheer weight of his being impressed by his mate's resourcefulness, intelligence, and insight.
"Is there nothing that I can keep even remotely hidden from you, my mate? Did I sprout pages from my head that state my innermost thoughts and print them for you to read?" Nova smiled coyly and turned her back to her mate. Kenneth felt a heat burn in his body, a fire of passion and desire that he thought had been long extinguished. He found himself moving towards her with speed and take her in his arms.
The two vampires embraced and moved against each other. Soon their clothes had been ripped to shreds as they tore at each other's bodies, naked and entwined, dancing and moving with animalistic lust, from desk, to couch, to wall. Their blood mixed as they bit and cut into each other, their nails digging into each other's backs, sides, arms and backsides. The blood washing over their lips as they drank from each other.
Hours later, sated and drunk off of euphoria and vampire blood, they lay, entangled with each other on the grey leather couch that matched the stainless-steel motif of the office as a whole. Of course, after what they had been through, the office seemed more red than grey and steel color.
Idly offering his finger to Nova's lips, she sensually closed her eyes and let her tongue swirl softly around the cool flesh of his finger before drawing in into her mouth, behind her lips she bit down, her razor-sharp vampire canines, slicing through his skin as easily as scissors through paper, and sucked a few drops of his blood.

Kenneth hadn't been this spent in a long, long time. His mind pulled him to a time when he was still human, a night with an older woman. It hadn't been his first time, he had gone out of his way to ensure his virginity had been lost soon after puberty, but it had been the first time he had tasted a woman's center, the first time he had heard and felt the full climatic satisfaction of a woman by him, thanks to her guiding him and knowing what she wanted. He returned to present day and looked at his mate, gazing into her eyes and feeling a resemblance between that night, so long ago, and this one.
Nova smiled and let a single finger slide up and caress her body. She was teasing him but the pure sensuality that she exuded was enough to entrance anyone and hold them under her spell.
"My Lord, Brian is your lieutenant and he is trusted by you. But perhaps you need other tools for this hunt? Perhaps someone that this city's underbelly doesn't know, would be able to move more easily through its warrens and get better results."
Kenneth saw what she meant immediately and he shook his head, "Absolutely not."
Nova looked hurt, almost stunned by the sudden finality of his decision. "My Lord?"
Kenneth knew that she knew that he knew what she was going to suggest and the fact that he shut it down so quickly must have put her off balance. But if there was one thing that made him lose interest faster than anything was people playing dumb when they knew full well what the hell was going on.
"Nova, you are not going hunting for these people, or the wolves. I won't have it. You're too young and these people are dangerous. A single werewolf could rip you to shreds without trying, and the man Brian hunts has support, how many, or what that support looks like, we don't know, but he won't be alone. So, the answer is no."
"But, my Lord, I wasn't going to suggest that I go."
Kenneth stopped, could he have doubted where his mate had wanted to go with this? Had he misread her so badly again? Or was this just her trying to backtrack after being shut down so quickly? A few decades ago, this woman would have had him reeling and backstepping trying to figure out what was going on, but it wasn't a few decades ago.
Kenneth fixed her gaze with his and smiled, "Alright, I'll bite, my mate. What were you going to suggest?"
Nova smiled, "Emily."
Kenneth looked both confused and dazed by the easy answer. Emily had done nothing but improve under his and Nova's tutelage. Her IQ seemed to be raising by a point or two a day, and her vocabulary now matched her newfound intelligence. Her dress was a fluid mixture of class, elegance, and sometimes downright sultry and sexy, but her fashion sense was still hers. He hadn't really thought of Emily as an agent to be used. But then, if he wasn't going to use Emily for some purpose, then why was he developing her in the first place?
