Dating sim loading: My girlfriend is a cunning young lady

Chapter 783: 339. Sudden strong wind (15)_2

The spotlight shone on her, not her usual noble look but adorably appealing, drawing spontaneous gasps from the audience.

Jiutiao Meijie was that beautiful, often a simple frown or smile could captivatingly mesmerize.

Unfortunately, she wasn't cold or expressionless but her smiles were almost exclusively for Dubian Che.

"Good morning, young lady," Dubian Che ascended the stage.

The audience instantly burst into cheers.

Dubian Che was not only popular among the girls, though he hadn't knelt with the baseball team, but he also had a very good relationship with the boys.

"Good morning, Mr. Demon~" the girl cheerfully greeted.

"Luggage?" the demon glanced at the cloth bag on the table, "Are you heading out on a long trip?"

"I am off to search for the end of the world, and to part ways with you."

The crowd roared with laughter.

This wasn't a line from the script.

Backstage, Kiyono Lin folded her arms, her pretty face furrowed beautifully.

Dubian Che, without a hint of hesitation or surprise, responded, "No one in this world can resist my charm; no matter where your body travels, my shadow will linger in your heart."

The boys jeered while the girls nodded in agreement.

"Mr. Demon," Jiutiao Meijie stepped forward and began fastening Dubian Che's collar one button at a time, "The place I am heading to is the end of the world."

"The end of the world? Indeed, it's a place I cannot reach, but can you find it? Even I, as a demon, don't know where it is."

"I have a map." The girl triumphantly pulled out a folded parchment from her collar, "What's more, Mr. Demon~"

The demon glanced at the map, watching the girl leave with a meaningful gaze.

"I'll always be with you." The demon exited the stage.

The curtain slowly closed, and the backstage crew hurriedly began setting up new props, broadcasting Dubian Che's pre-recorded voice-over.

"The girl left the large town, following the first instruction on the map: to drink from the spring of forgotten wishes. If she could recall everything about herself, she might meet the witch who holds the secret to the end of the world."

"After experiencing a full four seasons, the girl remembered her desire to reach the end of the world."

"Just then, the witch appeared before her."

Dubian Che's voice, unhurried and captivating, naturally conjured images in the audience's minds, as if visualizing the girl's journey.

The curtain opened to reveal not a house but a forest filled with birdsong.

In the forest, with bright spring light, rabbits groomed wolves, and birds cleaned snakes' teeth.

The witch sat on a tree root, engrossed in reading a thick book.

"Wow—"

"It's Mr. Xiaoquan!"

"His witch outfit suits him well! Just not very sinister, huh!"

Familiar people playing roles in the drama made for a great joy due to the disparity.

So did Dubian Che and Jiutiao Meijie, whose interactions on and off stage were equally enjoyable to the audience.

At this moment, the girl who had just exited reappeared on stage.

"Hello, are you the witch?"

The witch put down her book and stood up.

After a conversation, the witch vanished, leaving the girl alone in the forest.

"Understanding the demon... Is it about mutual understanding among people?"

The girl gazed at everything in the forest, seemingly puzzled yet understanding, and left the forest, continuing in the direction her heart guided her.

The scene changed to a shrine where a shrine maiden was sweeping the approach.

"Such a beautiful shrine maiden, what grade is she?"

"I don't know, never seen her."

"It's Mayi Asuka! She's perfect in the shrine maiden uniform! So pretty!"

The girl stepped onto the stage and approached the shrine maiden to inquire about the end of the world.

"I can tell you."

"Huh?" The girl was momentarily speechless, the shrine maiden was too straightforward, "Are there any conditions?"

The shrine maiden shook her head expressionlessly.

"But," the girl hesitated, "I drank from the spring of forgotten wishes, recalled everything, and passed the test; the witch then told me the secret she knew. Do I really not need to do anything for you?"

The shrine maiden still shook her head.

"Why?" The girl couldn't understand.

"Because she has already got everything she wanted," the demon reappeared.

As the demon approached the girl, Jiutiao Meijie reached out, casually fixed his collar, then tidied it up neatly.

The crowd roared with laughter again.

Every time they met, the girl would adjust the demon's collar. Could this journey to the world's end be to avoid seeing the demon's neckline?

The crowd chattered enthusiastically, momentarily oblivious to the apocalyptic winds outside.

"Girl, I like comfort," Dubian Che reached out to stop her.

"Snap!" Jiutiao Meijie crisply swatted his hand away, continuing to straighten his shirt collar.

"Hahaha!" Laughter erupted from the people below.

As the girl adjusted the demon's buttons, she asked, "Have you got all you wanted?"

"Like the witch, the shrine maiden before you also made a deal with me."

Having finished with the demon's shirt, the girl turned to the shrine maiden, "May I ask, what did you gain from the demon, and what did you lose?"

"Emotion. Divine."

"Emotion? Divine?"

"All emotions except for love. My divine."

The girl, still unclear about what the shrine maiden was saying, turned to the demon beside her and said in a gentle yet commanding tone:

"Explain this to me."

Another wave of laughter followed.

"Actually, it's like a married couple quarreling—the girl left in anger and the demon came to persuade her to return."

"Do Jiutiao and Mr. Dubian usually interact like this? So loving!"

"Mind your tone, girl," the demon warned, then explained, "She is a shrine maiden, deeply in love with the Divine, yet she has never seen the Divine."

"And then?"

"Then she made a deal with me, exchanging all emotions except for love for a way to communicate with the Divine."

"From the demon, she exchanged all emotions for a way to communicate with the Divine." The girl gasped in astonishment, murmuring to herself, unable to imagine that such absurd things could happen in the world.

"Why would you do that?" the girl asked the shrine maiden. "If you truly love the Divine, you should never make a deal with a demon!"

The shrine maiden, her expression indifferent, tilted her head—a gesture of confusion, as she was devoid of emotion.

"Why?"

"Those who deal with demons cannot be loved by the Divine!"

"Why?"

"Because a demon is a villain, and the Divine is good; they are enemies."

"Hey, hey, I'm still here," said the demon, unconcerned by the girl's criticism.

"I don't need the Divine to love me," the shrine maiden said calmly. "I don't care about the Divine's thoughts or moods; I just want to speak with the Divine all the time, even if it's in angry rebuke."

The girl looked at the shrine maiden in shock.

"Without emotions, having lost the Divine's favor, won't you regret it?" the girl involuntarily asked.

The shrine maiden tilted her head again, looking "confused" at the girl—she couldn't even remember what regret was.

The girl remained speechless for a long time, took a cue from the shrine maiden, and left the shrine in silence.

"Dealing with a demon, not caring about the Divine's thoughts, just wanting to be with the Divine... Is this loving the Divine, or not?"

With this question in mind, the girl once again embarked on her journey to find the world's end.

On her third encounter, the girl met a knight, who also appeared valiant and had once dealt with a demon.

"To protect the kingdom doomed to fall, I gained power from the demon."

"But, the kingdom worships a fairy. Is it really appropriate to defend it with a demon's power?" the girl asked.

"I didn't think about that at the time," the young knight said, embarrassedly scratching her head. "After solving the kingdom's troubles, I planned to leave, but everyone forgave me because of their trust, which helped me resist the temptation to continue dealing with the demon."

"By the way," the knight said, "I don't know the way to the world's end, but you could ask the fairy."

"The fairy?"

"Yes," the knight nodded. "However, to see the fairy, you must meet certain criteria; only those who qualify can go to the Immortal Realm."

"What are those conditions?"

"I'm not sure. It's been a long time since anyone from the kingdom has been able to go to the Immortal Realm, but I can take you to try."

"Thank you."

The girl followed the knight deeper into the kingdom.

"This sacred and secretive place, the kingdom still remains open to those who have dealt with a demon," the girl murmured to herself.

"In a kingdom that worships a fairy, surviving thanks to a demon's power, the people's trust and acceptance saved her."

In the girl's voice, the two exited the stage; the curtain slowly rose.

"Witch, shrine maiden, knight, the girl has reached the map's end," Dubian Che's deep, soothing voice— "Will she meet the fairy? Can she find the world's end?"

As the narration ended, the curtain slowly parted, the crowd leaning forward in anticipation to see what would come next.

Beautiful, clear, perfect—the fairy that made the fierce wind hold its breath appeared on stage.
