The Immortal Seeker: Legend of Bronze Mirror

Chapter 354: Gathering of the Daoist Sect

The ethereal blue corridor seemed to be caressed by an invisible gale, suddenly rippling with shimmering waves.

Xu Qing, attending the Dao Discussion and God Destruction Conference with True Monarch Changchun in the guise of Li Qing, felt a violent tremor in his heart.

It was only then that he realized the ground beneath his feet was not ordinary rock but a substance resembling solidified Reincarnation Karmic Force, flowing slowly in a mysterious and unpredictable trajectory. Looking up, the walls on either side shimmered with the azure-black hue of the Ruishui River, appearing like an endless abyss of ink, exuding a terrifying aura. Countless twisted faces floated and sank beneath the water's surface, their mouths agape as if silently screaming, residual souls of cultivators who failed to cross the Sea of Suffering, trapped here to endure endless torment.

"Do not come within three feet of the edge." True Monarch Changchun, with a grave expression, waved his wide sleeve, sending forth seven bronze ancient lamps from his sleeve like meteors, to fall silently around the corridor.

The flames within the lamps were dim, and upon closer inspection, they were composed of shattered Reincarnation Marks, emitting a transcendent, mysterious glow.

"The weak waters corrode the bones and ensnare the soul; even a Golden Immortal Dao Body, with a mere half-drop, would see an Immortal Flower wither and its power greatly diminished." His voice resonated through the corridor like a deep bell.

Li Qing, moved at heart, surreptitiously released a wisp of Tai Chu Demon Qi. The demon qi, like a wisp of black smoke, meandered through the corridor. However, before the black mist could touch the weak water, a pale arm abruptly extended from the water, seizing the demon qi like a bolt of lightning.

This arm was densely covered with closed eyes, each pupil reflecting a different scene of death, some amid raging wars, others ravaged by natural disasters, or entangled by Heart Demons, their chilling nature appalling.

Seeing this, True Monarch Yuyang snorted coldly, and the jade pendant at his waist burst with light. A bolt of Divine Thunder issued forth, bearing a world-destroying momentum as it struck the eerie presence. With a crashing sound, the Divine Thunder sliced the pale arm into strands of cyan smoke that dissipated into the air.

"These are the vengeful spirits drowned in the Reincarnation Channel." True Monarch Yuyang swiftly formed a spell with his hands and chanted. Instantly, a Yin Yang Fish diagram manifested beneath everyone's feet, glowing with gentle light, enveloping all present. "Trapped between the weak water and the present world, they survive by devouring living souls, their greed insatiable."

At this moment, a heartrending scream suddenly emanated from the rear of the group. Everyone hurriedly turned to see one of the accompanying disciples' robes inadvertently touch a splattering drop of weak water. The droplet, akin to potent venom, swiftly corroded the disciple's body, causing him to deform like a melting wax figure. Immediately, his three souls and seven spirits transformed into seven azure snakes, writhing as they slithered towards the rock wall.

Reacting swiftly, True Monarch Changchun tossed the Glazed Purification Bottle, out of which surged Chaos Qi, rewrapping the seven azure snakes and molding them back into human form. However, the disciple's cultivation had plummeted from Earth Immortal to Golden Core, his complexion ashen as paper, his breath faint.

"Did you see?" True Monarch Yuyang, his brow furrowed, finger wrapped with a silver thread fished from the weak water surface, asked, "This is a severed cause and effect of a certain Dao Lord. Even we, if plunged into this place..." He paused slightly, then suddenly released the thread. As the silver thread plummeted into the weak water, a mournful wail erupted throughout the entire Reincarnation Channel, as though some ancient, potent existence had been stirred awake. The wail was like knives, piercing everyone's souls, making their hair stand on end.

Li Qing suddenly halted, his gaze falling upon his reflection in the weak water. Under the mirror-like surface, he saw twelve demonic shadows manifesting behind him, each shadow depicting various ways of a downfall. Some were pierced by myriad swords, others consumed by Karmic Fire, others still devoured by Heart Demons... This was the weak water forewarning of the ultimate fate of all things.

"If the heart is as pure as ice, the heavens shall not frighten." True Monarch Changchun, noticing Li Qing's anomaly, lightly swept his horsetail whisk over Li Qing's spirit platform. The whisk, trailing strands of Daoist affinity, instantly dispersed the destiny reflection cast by the weak water. "The weak water mirrors only possibilities, not certainties. In the past, when the Great Emperor of Longevity gazed upon this place, he saw himself fall into the Demon Path, but later he chose to defy the heavens and change fate, and the result..."

At this moment, the weak waters on both sides suddenly surged violently. The phantom of an Emperor's Robe and Crown manifested from within the water. Everyone held their breath, not daring to emit a sound for fear of disturbing this colossal presence.

True Monarch Changchun remained equally silent.

Li Qing harbored suspicions, believing this phantom to possibly be the residue left by the Great Emperor of Longevity.

The Great Emperor of Longevity, the Patriarch Pure Yang...

In Xu Qing's heart, some conjectures arose, along with more fog of suspicion.

When the group finally set foot on a dark red continent, Li Qing felt his entire body suddenly weigh down, his vestment robe soaked with cold sweat on his back. He could distinctly feel that his mana and Divine Thought were significantly suppressed, as if shackled by an invisible chain.

At this moment, he seemed to regress to the age of mortality, only marginally stronger than an Internal Martial Artist.

Luckily, it wasn't his true self that came here, otherwise...

"Li Qing, this is the very heart of the Spirit Platform Star Sea," True Monarch Changchun's voice echoed beside his ear, carrying a trace of gravity.

True Monarch Yuyang looked at everyone with a smile, his eyes showing a hint of deep meaning: "You feel it, don't you? The Great Dao here is drastically different from the outside world. Even here, Taiyi and Da Luo no longer remain in the Integration Realm and face the risk of falling. However, we have Teleportation Talismans and can leave anytime, whereas you must remain inside for seven years." His words, while introducing this mysterious place, also subtly revealed concern for the disciples.
