Infernal Apocalypse [ LitRPG , Non-Human Lead, Lots and lots of Fire ]

239. First Offender (Book Four)

I barely had more than a few seconds to look around before the mermaid Immortal appeared before me once again.

"I hereby officially welcome you to the Aquatila Empire. The entire Estate will be for you and your people. Please spend some time getting settled in. You are a guest here, so if you need anything, there will be plenty of attendants on standby.

"Feel free to explore to your heart's content as well. I only ask that, if possible, you don't kill anyone who might offend you or your people. It would only make it harder to schedule the battles I have planned for you."

I was a little confused by her statement.

"Offend me? Why would anyone choose to offend me?"

"I believe that is a matter of perspective. Where you come from, you are likely the strongest being on the planet. Not likely actually you were. And you also had the most influence on your planet. No one in their right mind would have sought to offend you, even by accident. Not by the time you left, at least.

"But here, and in the wider Multiverse, while you are strong and are accompanied by your own clan, one that contains an Immortal being loyal to you, you are not the only group or person who has similar things.

"In fact, there are far more people who are not only stronger than you but have far deeper and more immediate backing than you do. Perhaps you may be able to call upon your entire planet of Infernals to come to your aid, or beings like the individual who visited you before we left, but things like that take time.

"Anyway, arrogance is very common in the Multiverse, and the stronger certain people get, the stronger their arrogance grows along with them. So much so that there are people out there who get offended by the slightest of things. Because they feel their pride has been touched, that same pride and the arrogance it breeds demand them to respond to whatever offense they deem has befallen them.

"I have seen entire families wiped out all because one person did not like the taste of their food. To you, that may sound odd and alarming, but to regular people of the Multiverse, things like that are as common as the air they breathe.

"That is why I say, if someone offends you, do not kill them, at least not before consulting with me. Of course, I cannot make you do anything, and I completely understand that if the offense they committed against you was so great that there was no other punishment but death, then do as you please. We will deal with what happens next."

After saying that and verifying I had no immediate questions, she simply disappeared. Then I began to look around the area once more.

It kind of reminded me of some of those old Italian villas you would see in movies. There were colorful looking trees scattered around the place, other plants and foliage I had never seen before, and architecture that made sense but looked slightly different.

When I looked up into the sky, I saw not one but two suns, one with a familiar yellow tint like Earth's, and the other giving off a slightly blue hue. Both combined to create a beautiful picture in the sky. The world wasn't colored in green, but rather in a serene sort of yellowish blue that naturally worked well with the environment.

I was just glad it still felt warm.

Anyway, I told everyone to spread out and explore this compound of ours, and about a couple of hours later we quickly learned that she spared no expense in making sure we would be comfortable. This was not a regular estate. It was a small town. The only other people who populated it were attendants, and they were just people waiting to take our requests.

The entire place was walled off from the outside, something we hadn't even bothered to go explore yet. For now, it was interesting to just walk around. There were places to eat where we were the only customers, places to train, places to buy weapons and all manner of goods, and places to simply relax.

Of course, there were plenty of rooms for me and my people to find a place to sleep. Though while they all got the option of choosing, the courtyard in which we had been transported was apparently mine, and the mansion I saw before me was also apparently mine.

Of course, I'm sure if I had pushed the issue and told them I wanted to find my own place, they wouldn't have complained, but there was no reason to do that. Once again, Vrusha and the rest of the guard also made that mansion their home, since there was more than enough space for them to do so twice over.

Still, it was a bit shocking to me that I was basically allocated a town just to live in, with no other citizens to bother me. Where the hell did she think I'd be getting offended by someone else if all I had to do was stay in this town? It was even guarded, so who the hell would be coming in here to offend me?

And of course, as if right on cue, the most cliché thing of all time happened. I was resting in my new bedroom when Vrusha knocked and let me know that someone was demanding to see me outside.

Of course, that's not all he said. His very next question was if he should kill the man for disturbing my rest.

Of course, I said no, but I was confused once again. This place was guarded, yet I didn't hear any alarms or issues being raised, yet there was someone here demanding to see me. How interesting.

Anyway, I went outside after telling Vrusha not to kill the man. It was then that I saw who it was…a young man, shorter than me, but with similar features to the mermaid Immortal. At least in terms of color, they shared the same hair and scale tones. I wondered if they were related.

Of course, he didn't give me a chance to greet him before he opened his mouth and let out a string of words laced with venom.

"You peasant, how dare you take advantage of our goodwill? You need to learn your place and return to the pit that you hail from. You do not belong here, and if it wasn't for the kindness of the Princess, you would still be in whatever dredge she found you in.

"I advise you to mind your manners, watch your tongue, and never look upon those who are better than you. Stay in your place and there will be no more problems."

He then spat on the floor and turned to walk away.

Oh?

I see.

I see indeed.

"Grab him."

Vrusha, who was practically seething with every word the man before me spoke, moved faster than I think I've ever seen him move before. Yet he still wasn't fast enough to match the speed of Lidaz, who I didn't even know was nearby.

The man, clearly not in full control of his power, crashed into the ground with such force I thought he had killed the intruder. But when the dust cleared, I realized he was only banged up, not dead. Lidaz had him pinned face first into the ground, his screams stifled under the pressure of Lidaz's aura.

Vrusha waited at the edge of the crater, teeth gritted. I knew all too well what was probably roaring through his mind right now.

It should have been him crushing the man in the crater as the head of my guard. I knew his pride felt a little dented that he had been beaten to the punch, but I'm sure it would serve as good motivation for him.

Anyway, speaking of pride, I believe mine was just insulted.
