Hunter: Growing Stronger with the Light of the Moon!

Chapter 172: The Final Outcome

What Delphilis said was indeed true. The Evil God could only be temporarily defeated. As long as this world exists, as long as the intelligent beings on this world remain, various negative emotions and thoughts will arise.

These things won't disappear. Instead, they will gradually accumulate until the next Evil God reappears.

It was an unavoidable situation. Ed now held the power over this world, capable of doing many unimaginable things. For instance, he could fly freely, burrow into the earth, and live freely in the water.

However, he couldn't change the appearance of the Evil God, because that was something even the God of Creation, who created this world, couldn't alter.

The rules had existed long before the gods appeared, long before this world was created.

The so-called God of Creation was simply an entity that used the rules, that used authority. It couldn't change the authority, nor could it create new forms of authority.

Ed thought to himself and then chose to answer Delphilis' question, saying:

"I'm not like you. Everything you know, I know too, but I won't just give up. I won't choose to let this world be destroyed."

Delphilis' lingering consciousness asked, confused: "Why?"

Ed replied, "Because I want to. That's why."

"You say the world is doomed to end, that the Evil God will rise again, so you've decided to speed up the process, ignoring the most important point."

"That point is that while we may not be able to change the outcome, we cannot ignore the journey. Besides, it's just that we can't do it right now. As long as we keep moving forward, there will be hope."

Delphilis scoffed, saying, "Fool."

Ed smiled faintly, snapped his fingers, and instantly Delphilis' voice vanished.

He slowly exhaled, took out the red gem, and without hesitation, crushed it.

Immediately, the scene around him changed rapidly. Countless beams of light converged, fused, and then exploded.

When everything settled down, Ed found himself in a mysterious space. There was nothing here, and it was impossible to describe with words.

Perhaps only the terms "chaos" and "void" could vaguely describe this mysterious space.

In this space, there was no light, no color, no sound...

It was as if matter didn't exist here. Ed could feel his "existence," but he couldn't feel his physical form. Only his spiritual consciousness remained.

In this mysterious space, there was no terrifying and strange Evil God, only another consciousness, or rather, countless states of that other consciousness.

At this moment, Ed was unusually clear-headed. He knew that the consciousness other than his own must be the Evil God.

[You've come, Ed.]

It wasn't words, it wasn't text, nor any known means of communication—it was "information exchange"!

Ed: [You know why I'm here, don't you?]

Evil God: [Of course, I know. But everything you do is meaningless. In this world, meaning itself is meaningless.]

[You cannot change anything.]

Ed didn't respond because he was receiving the Evil God's information.

Within Ed's consciousness, there were new "experiences." He felt as if he had become Delphilis himself, reliving the journey from arriving in this world, confused and helpless, to the excitement of discovering he could absorb moonlight and increase his strength.

Then, there were the moments of constantly helping others, fulfilling his own sense of value, until finally encountering a weak elf and offering assistance, unguarded and revealing his ability to absorb moonlight.

Later, he was imprisoned in the Tree of Life, treated like a lab animal, dissected and studied until there was nothing left but his last breath. Then, the Elf Sorcerers used the essence of the Tree of Life to repair his body.

This cycle repeated, causing him to continually break down.

After experiencing Delphilis' suffering, Ed felt a moment of disorientation, only to find himself becoming an Elf Sorcerer. In the forbidden catastrophe of the Elf Kingdom, he lost all his family members and began researching the resurrection of the dead.

For hundreds of years, he conducted experiments on the bodies of intelligent beings from all races, and even on monsters.

When he died, the wife of a male Hunter he had harmed performed the same actions as him in an effort to resurrect her husband.

In the end, the Parasitic Serpent Monster Vil appeared in this world.

Ed relived the pain of the villagers near Dorey City, those killed by Vil, Alice... He experienced the pain of all these people firsthand.

As Ed broke free from this state, his entire consciousness began to gradually merge with the surrounding void and chaos.

Evil God: [This is the world you're trying to save, filled with eternal suffering.]

Evil God: [Ed, give up.]

Evil God: [Do you know? What you've just experienced, what you've absorbed and accepted, is far too little—like a drop of water in the sea. No, it's half a drop!]

Evil God: [And I am the ocean.]

As Ed's consciousness slowly merged with the surrounding chaos and void, he regained his clarity.

Ed: [Yes, you cannot be completely eradicated. You will always return.]

Ed: [But that also means that all I have to do is defeat you every time you appear, and it will be over.]

Ed: [You are the product of the negative emotions and thoughts of all intelligent beings. Naturally, you cannot understand why I want to save this world, because you cannot feel the good things.]

Ed: [For example, at this very moment, a statue of mine is being built.]

Earlier, Ed had indeed been influenced by the painful "experiences" and felt that this world, filled with suffering, should be destroyed, just as Delphilis and the Evil God had said.

But then Ed thought of the people he cared about—he thought of the bonds he shared with others, of Melissa, Iris, Finniel, and so many more.

These were the reasons he wanted to save this world. Besides, he truly could kill the Evil God again and again.

The next moment, Ed's consciousness underwent a massive transformation.

In this space of nothingness and chaos, "matter" began to appear.

The vibrating "strings" were like lightning that suddenly descended from the sky thousands of years ago, sparking evolution and civilization.

The entire mysterious space began to shake with the movement of these "strings," becoming increasingly unstable.

Evil God: [We will meet again, Ed. Next time, I will be even stronger. I will never disappear.]

Ed did not engage in "information exchange." At this moment, his physical form was rapidly taking shape—his heart began to beat, blood began to flow, and his consciousness and body fused.

By the time Ed had fully restored his normal state, this mysterious space began to collapse.

Ed opened his eyes and saw a beam of light appear, followed by various elements—gold, wood, water, fire, earth, air, plants, life...

Ed opened his mouth and spoke slowly, "I still prefer this form of communication. Don't worry, I'll make sure you can never appear again."

"The world won't become perfect, but it can come infinitely close to perfection, and you will become infinitely weaker."

"We will never meet again."

Ed spread his arms and closed his eyes.

When he opened his eyes again, he was high up in the sky, with the battling monsters and the warriors of the four great races beneath him.

As soon as Ed appeared, all the warriors from the four great races, as well as the frenzied monsters, seemed to sense something. They suddenly looked up.

At that moment, in every corner of the world, whether human, or intelligent beings from other races, or monsters, plants, animals...

All beings, in their own way, sensed Ed's presence.

Ed snapped his fingers lightly, and a strange phenomenon appeared.

The sun and the moon shone together!

The sun and the moon were in the same sky!

This unimaginable sight left the kings of the four great races and the warriors of all races in the battlefield with their mouths agape, completely stunned.

Under the combined light of the sun and the moon, the monsters in the land and the ocean seemed to be struck by an invisible force. Their bodies began to dissolve and gradually vanished from this world.

As the bright moonlight illuminated the giant statue in the plaza, a little girl, holding a toy in her left hand and candy in her right, curiously stared at the statue in front of her.

The little girl's mother stood behind her, gently saying, "Alright, Alice, it's getting late. We should go home now. Daddy has your favorite food ready, and he's waiting for us at home."

Alice, the little girl, looked up at her mother with a bright smile. She reached out her hand, pointing at the giant statue, and curiously asked, "Mom, is this Mr. Ed? I heard my teacher say that people used to call him Lord Ed."

The little girl's mother replied, "That was a long time ago. After Mr. Ed saved the world, he started making reforms in many areas, and the world gradually became a better place."

"The classes between people slowly began to fade away, and now everyone lives happily."

Alice asked, "Then where is Mr. Ed? Where is he now?"

The little girl's mother shook her head and answered, "Mom doesn't know, but whenever there's a great danger or misfortune, Mr. Ed will appear."

At this point, the little girl's mother slowly looked up, gazing at the brightly lit city and the people walking by with happy expressions. She gently said, "Maybe we'll never see Mr. Ed again, because the world is getting better and better."

Unnoticed, in the corner of the street, a young man, dressed simply and looking like an ordinary person, leisurely looked up at the moonlight and murmured to himself:

"Yes, this world will keep getting better, infinitely close to perfection."
