Anton joined his fellow mages on top of the walls of Mendoza to continue defending the kingdom from what he thought as mindless attacks that the Undead Coalition had been doing for the past several weeks. He still could not understand why the Coalition was doing it. It felt meaningless to him. Anyway, the only thing he needed to do was keep defending Mendoza.
After his shift, he returned to his apartment. Anton didn't plan to go home to the Rose Manor that day since he wanted to stick to his plan of going home only every couple of days. He truly did not want the wizards to know his current ability to create a portal to two specific places.
At first, Anton thought that maybe his ability to create a portal would be the skill that would let the wizards of Mendoza decide to bring the fight to the Undead Coalition's base, but he did not believe that the might Divine Wizards or even Semi-Divines had the same ability. The undead had it since they were able to create a Gate or a Portal from Rendindura to the Gale Continent.
He had made a decision that he would only formally share his abilities with the wizards if it was truly needed or once he reached the Invincible Rank. Anton was sure thought, that once he reached the maximum level of his ladder Amazon character, he would officially enter the ranks of Supreme Wizards, at least power-wise.
In truth, Anton felt that compared to other wizards with the same rank as him, his knowledge was severely lacking. First off, he was only eighteen. Second, his abilities were limited to what his Diablo II system provided. He knew, though, that when it came to truly becoming a powerful wizard, his system was powerful enough to bring him there. The only thing he truly needed was time.
When he first started exploring his Diablo II system, there were a lot of things that he could do to expand his power. For example, he could continue creating powerful enchantments. He could also combine his spells from different characters. When it came to physical power, he could even rival the most powerful physical warriors. The crux of the matter was that Anton also had the ability to study the magic system of this world. That meant that if he was given enough time, he could reach the pinnacle of power in this world.
At around ten in the morning, he heard a knock on his door, and when he opened it, Anton saw that it was Captain Leonard and Charlie.
"What happened?!" Anton asked after inviting the two people inside his apartment.
"Oh my divines! Your apartment is huge and beautiful!" Charlie said after looking around.
Anton served the two people tea after they sat down.
"You don't need to worry, Anton. Nothing bad happened. It's just the Major's daughters saw our tiny animals and made a ruckus about having one of their own. The real problem was, it spread towards the nobility, now the children of the nobles insisted on meeting with you to buy tiny animals," Captain Leonard said, looking embarrassed.
"My Birdie and my Wolfie are extremely intelligent, and everyone's was the same. I don't believe what you said about them, about not having personalities. My animals are truly more intelligent than others!" Charlie exclaimed.
"Nonsense. I observed all the tiny animals, and they're all equally reliable. The tiny ravens are extremely useful in sending letters. They know how to find the recipient when they have met them before," Captain Leonard said.

"The tiny spirit wolves are truly adorable, but they're ferocious! Even though all of us had commanded them not to fight, when Suvina was in danger, the tiny wolf attacked the face of the undead that was attacking her, enabling her to kill the undead without any problem. It was so funny to see that her first concern was if her wolf was injured. Thankfully, it was not," Charlie said.
"I'm guessing that you're here because some of the higher-ups are pressuring you?" Anton asked his previous captain.
Captain Leonard did not answer his question, and both the captain and Charlie just stared at him.
"I don't really understand why they allowed their children to keep behaving that way. Their kingdom is being attacked. Are they not afraid that Mendoza would fall and all their privilege would disappear?" Anton asked, but he did not really expect an answer.
Anton was surprised, though, when Captain Leonard answered him.
"They truly believe that Mendoza would prevail. I carefully observe the behavior of the rich nobles. Almost all of them were children of wizard families, and some of them were powerful wizards as well. They believe that Mendoza's council of wizards was powerful enough to make sure that the kingdom is safe, and you know what, I believe that as well. I learned that in the council, three were Semi-Divines and one was a Divine rank wizard."
Both Captain Leonard and Charlie looked awestruck at the information. Even though Anton was already aware that some of the higher-ups had that rank, it was still good to know that powerful wizards were holding the fort. That meant that even if the Undead Coalition prevailed in conquering Mendoza, it would cost them a lot to do so.
"How did you learn that information?" Anton asked his previous captain.
"It was shared with me by one of the majors," Captain Leonard answered.
"I'll give you two tablets of Tiny Ravens and two tablets of Tiny Spirit Wolves. Use it to get the higher-ups off your back. I don't want to meet anyone, and I'm sure that they wouldn't bother me since I'm quite sure that in a few weeks I'll officially enter the ranks of Supreme Wizards," Anton decisively told Captain Leonard and Charlie.
Anton felt that it was time for him to use his rank to deter some annoyances that were cropping up. He knew for a fact that reaching the Supreme rank at just eighteen years old was almost unprecedented, and the achievement deserved respect. He would leverage that information to prevent some of those politicians from using his friends to get to him. Thankfully, what they wanted was nothing serious. Just the summoning tablets, so he was quite sure that those people would stop.
Both Captain Leonard and Charlie looked at Anton with deep respect. After they left, Anton returned to leveling up his ladder Amazon character, but after an hour, he heard a knock on his door again. When he opened it, it was Cedon.
"We've heard rumors that you have reached the Supreme Rank. I brought a rank stone with me to check your rank," Cedon said after Anton invited the young supreme wizard.
"I told my previous captain that I feel I would reach that rank in a few weeks!" Anton exclaimed.
"Let's check anyway."
After that, Anton just sighed and held the rank stone that Cedon gave him. The rank stone did confirm that he had almost reached the Supreme Rank since the color switched from the peak of Archmage to the initial stage of the Supreme Rank. The switching happened constantly, which meant that Anton's supposition was correct. In a week or two, he would formally enter the Supreme Rank.
"I know the reason why you share that information. I will formally inform you that people will not use your previous squad anymore to get to your tablets."
"They'll just use you, then?" Anton asked with a smile.
Cedon shrugged.
"Are you really that bothered about it? At the end of the day, the tablets were truly not important and were just amusing toys," Cedon said.
"To be honest with you, it wouldn't have bothered me, and I would gladly accept the business, but we're in a time of war, and I'm too busy to focus my time on creating those tablets. At most, I can continue creating those Dire Wolf summoning tablets," Anton said, and Cedon just nodded.
After that, the young Supreme Wizard left Anton to his devices.
