Anton was truly impressed with the long-range magic array. Not only was he able to see the enemies that were coming from the west, but he could do so clearly, and he was able to control the view like controlling a flying drone. What was truly impressive about the array was not only that it was able to allow the one who controlled the array to view the enemies from afar, but it could also be used to cast spells that would have a truly long-range effect, hence the name.
He could see the melee defenders of the wall bracing themselves to receive the attack from the undead. Anton did not wait any longer and tested the long-range array capabilities by casting his favorite spell, which was the Frozen Orb ice spell.
A large ball of Ice Water appeared at the top of the wall parapet and hurled like a comet towards the coming undead horde. The horde consisted of zombies, ghouls, skeletons, vampires, wraiths, and more. The frightening part was that the undead weren't only from the corpses and remains of humans but also from the remains of animals and every monster that one could see in this world.
The Frozen Orb arrived at the front lines of the undead horde and exploded. The spell caused massive damage, even destroying some of the undead attackers, but the most important part was that a large area was slowed down or even frozen by the ice spell.
Anton was truly impressed by the long-range magic array, but he didn't dawdle. He cast the Frozen Orb three times consecutively, then immediately switched to the Meteor Spell. The Frozen Orb spells caused the undead army that was attacking their section of the wall to severely slow down, and the huge flaming rock that appeared from the sky above the undead horde slammed towards the enemies with an impact that could be felt through their bones. The fires that appeared from the meteor spell caused the undead army to be covered in fire.
He then cast his Hydra spell one after another, and several Hydra heads made of flame appeared in the battleground. The Hydra heads started spewing out Firebolts continuously towards the enemies.
Anton's spell rotation was that he would cast the Frozen Orb spell three times in a row, then he would cast the Meteor Spell, again three times in a row, then switch to the Hydra Spell five times, and then the Blizzard Spell three times, then Chain Lightning three times, then back to the Frozen Orb spell. He was relentless in his spell casting and did not stop even for a second.
At first, Anton thought that he would need to utilize the mana potions inside his Diablo II game system, so before the battle started, he readied his inventory so he could consume the potions once he needed them to but his Meditation Aura was able to support his spellcasting without any problem.
Anton could hear shouts of surprise and exclamation behind him that he assumed were from the wizards that was resting there, but he didn't turn his attention from the battle. He kept on casting his spells. He prepared himself to work like a robot, mindlessly casting spells until the end of the world.
He did see that the melee defenders were behind the fortifications, looking at his spell work in awe. Since the enemies were still far enough away from the wall, the melee warriors did not engage, which was a huge advantage for Anton since he could continue casting without worrying about hurting his compatriots.

He kept casting spells one after the other, and after what felt like days, Anton heard Supreme Pudonis commanding him to stop casting spells. He was about to stop anyway since he could not see any more enemies on their part of the wall.
When Anton checked the time in his browser inside his Diablo II system, he saw that it was only three in the morning. He thought that the attack would last until four or five in the morning.
"Truly impressive, Archmage Sunder! This is the first time I'd seen an archmage that could cast spells for more than three hours. That's truly rare! Because of your spell casting, the undead's attack on our wall ended just after three hours. You can go ahead and go down and join your squad for a much-deserved rest. Your shift is still going to be midnight tonight," Supreme Pudonis said after Anton disengaged from the long-range magic array.
When he arrived downstairs, Captain Leonard met up with Anton.
"Anton, you can go ahead and rest in the barracks or anywhere else if you have the stamina left to wander around. Take this with you. It's a magical token that will allow me to summon you anywhere you are in Mendoza," the captain said.
"What about the others?" Anton asked while looking at the magic token.
"They would still need to stay until eight in the morning. A shift lasts for eight hours except for wizards, since their usefulness is based on the spells they have."
"Well, I can still cast spells nonstop, so if you want me to join the others, I can go ahead and do so," Anton said.
Captain Leonard stared at Anton for a few seconds.
"No. This privilege of allowing you to rest was granted to you because of your impressive work. Because of what you did, I was summoned to attend a meeting concerning you, so please expect changes to your schedule. Also, expect that you will be removed from my squad and possibly assigned somewhere where Mendoza can use your abilities to the utmost," The captain said.
"I'm fine with anything as long as I continue attacking the undead. I'm sorry that I can't help our team earn more merit, captain."
Captain Leonard smiled.
"Our team, and I personally earned enough merit already. I'm quite sure that once this war ends, each one of us will be able to climb the ranks. By the way, your Dire Bear was reported to have disappeared. Thankfully, I shared the information that once it was far enough away from you, it would be teleported to your side."
"It did appear briefly by my side and I dispelled it immediately."
"I was informed that you don't need to give that Dire Bear anymore."
After that conversation with Captain Leonard, Anton immediately went to the barracks to rest. Even though he hadn't done anything physically that would make him tired, three hours of nonstop spellcasting did exhaust him mentally.
The barracks that were assigned to their squad were a large hall filled with beds and chests under the beds where the soldier could put their things. The hall was large enough to contain around 30 beds, and that meant that three squads were assigned to their barracks. Several barracks were constructed along the road where their barracks were located, and beside each barracks, there was a bathroom and toilet.
Everything was cleaned regularly by mages, so there was no foul smell of any kind. Since it was still summer, the barracks' large windows were open. Anton could see traces of runes, and according to some of the soldiers, they were runes to prevent all types of insects from coming in, so there was no mosquito problem.
According the some of the soldiers that arrived first, the only issue was the temperature during the afternoons. It was not such a huge problem that Mendoza's mages ignored requests concerning controlling the temperature inside the barracks.
Anton only had ten Frozen Orb air conditioner magic items in his inventory, but based on the size of their barracks, four of them were enough to lower the temperature inside so that the people could sleep comfortably during the hottest part of the day.
