To anyone who made it through all that, remember that a smile better suits a hero. ;D
I liked Artur, and I liked him even better when I first met him as Haurchefaunt. This is an alternate version of something I ran my students through once in our TTRPG club. I had them meet a heroic knight copied from FFXIV who I knew was on a death route. They got attached as they learned all the horrible things that the kingdom did in the past, while this prince/knight was fighting to make the world around him a better place. Then he died because of a decision one of the students made. They wailed and cried and disrupted a meeting in a nearby room.

That's the short version, at least.
I don't think I'm going to do another double-volume island soon. Eighty chapters is a lot to stay in one place, and there were times where I felt I dragged it out. It was a good experience to just do, but the size of it felt incredibly unwieldy. I don't know how authors crank out 100k+ on one storyline without saying all that needs to be said.
