Hollow

Just the two of us

Walking through the cold streets of Neo-Tokyo, Luna shivered a bit.

Her current clothes didn't exactly provide the most warmth, but they still looked good on her.

A small price to pay, one could say.

Her footsteps echoed out as she walked through the deserted street — the sky brightly lit, adorned with advertisement's, casting that light on the road as well.

"That mission was a long one.."

She muttered to herself. A sigh left her lips — while the payment was good, the mission itself took a toll on her.

It wasn't an easy task, no mission was but she was tired. Sleeping in tents, being on alert in case any mutants attacked them, then having to interrogate the vice leader for the mercenary company led by the True Blood wolf's.

It was a lot. Her body was slightly aching and her bones felt rather heavy, but the feeling would probably go away after some rest so she had no worries.

"Just a little bit further though," she thought to herself. She was only a block away from her home.

Her apartment complex was in her sight now, and she let out another sigh of relief.

A few people milled around — she ignored them, instead she focused on getting back to her home. She wanted nothing more than to go to bed and get that much needed rest — at least for 12 hours, or more.

She had to admit that he was really handsome, even with the mask on. She had caught that much when she was first introduced to him.

He was, after all, extremely physically fit and fit her type. However, he was rather...quiet. She had seen him speak a few times but it felt like there was more to him than just his silence. She thought absentmindedly, she let out a brief little snort in amusement at the memory of him fighting those werebears.

The way he had handled his blade — his technique, the strength and power in his swing had taken Luna and the blood wolfs as a whole by surprise. She had underestimated him at first, but soon she realized it was unwise to assume so.

The strength he had displayed was far different than what she had originally thought.

He was truly someone capable of being a diamond rank mercenary.

"I wonder..."

She mumbled as her hands wrapped around some groceries in her hand. Her feet carried her forward towards home. Just who was he? She had seen his abilities — seen how extremely powerful he could be, but still, she had no idea who he was. Of course, She knew his name. Sato..Sato.. something.

And, he travelled with Ox, a feminine looking boy who likes to put on makeup like a clown, not in a disrespectful way. But, he hadn't told them anything personal.

Like, anything about his past, where he grew up, his life etc. That wasn't weird, per se. Some people just liked to keep their past for themselves — hell, Luna herself hadn't told anyone anything about herself, not really.

Still... There was such a sense of mystery to him. She couldn't help but be curious. She stopped in the middle of the footpath, bringing a hand up to her chin. Then, as if a lightbulb had suddenly lit up in her head, she changed directions, walking away from her home.

It took a while, but she finally reached the building, which wasn't hard to miss. It stood in front of her, eighty floors tall and looking slightly intimidating.

The night had well and truly fell, so even fewer people were outside. She went up the porch steps and she entered the build. Looking around, she saw Sato standing at the receptionist table and Ox standing, he seemed pretty busy. So, as not to disturb him, she waited for a while.

After what felt like eternity, he turned around to look at ox, speaking to him and they both began to leave. She left before them, standing at the entrance. After Ox and Sato left, he mounted the King of the Radiated forest who was patiently waiting outside like a good little puppy, or cat? A good little kitty. "Hey, there." She raised her hand, calling for their attention. The moment they turned around to look at her, she could feel their eyes on her — especially Sato's, although he had a mask on, she could feel his gaze staring at her.

Registering Fenris—the name Lucifer had given him on the way here— itself was simple enough, but it took about one and a half hours. The most time-consuming part of the process was making an identification picture and ID of fenris.

Of course, the identification part was easy but the making part was hard, why? Because this was a bloody extinct and genetically modified Wolf.

Another thing was that the company's people who made ID's were quite busy at the moment, since they received these things at dawn and made them during the night. Thus, if he needed for it to go faster, he would've needed to pay extra money which he couldn't.

"Let's go over now," Lucifer said to

Oxy as he finished the registration, before he headed toward Fenris.

He had become used to it.

Since the merry-go-round was not the exclusive domain of the rich — or people with lovers or family — then it made no difference if a lonely man rode it.

Having given up on himself, there was no hesitation in Lucifer's movement. Using his superior athletic ability, he mounted the King of the Radiated Forest with a masterful vault. If he were an athlete, his name would have gone down in the history books. He did not have a saddle or reins, but several hours of experience was enough for him to learn how to skillfully mount up.

The pedestrians were gasping in awe as far as his eyes could see. He could even hear the sounds of women screaming in excitement. In particular, he felt the piercing gazes of his fellow mercenaries burning into him. After seeing the copper star on his armour, their eyes went wide with disbelief.

"I'm the one who should have a hard time believing this."

Just then, a voice called out to him, interrupting his head.

"Hey, there!"

He turned his head to the side, to find that it was Luna who had called out for his attention.

Lucifer was slightly confused at what she was doing here but decided to entertain her nonetheless.

"Oh, hey?"

He replied, slightly taken aback that Luna was talking to him.

She was walking towards him without any hesitation, and her eyes looked him up and down, with a look he couldn't quite decipher but could guess was slight fascination, something like that.

"Umm, Sato-san. If you're not busy, Could i ask for a favour?"

She asked him softly, in that cold tone of her's, tilting her head to the slide.

Lucifer paused for a moment, as far as he remembered, there wasn't anything that would require her to ask him for assistance but if he did give her his service's, it would inevitably just benefit him. So, he nodded and spoke.

"Yeah, what is it."

Her behavior perplexed him, she didn't seem to be the type of person to appear nervous but now... well, she did resemble a nervous wreck a bit. He blinked as he observed her, his confusion only increasing.

"What kind of help?"

Luna took in a deep breath, she had already decided to ask him for help before coming here but now, she was feeling nervous.

"Well, it's actually... a gig."

She muttered, averting his eyes away from his. Her fingers twitched and fiddled with her shirt nervously.

"There's this job I need to do..and..I need your help."

"Me?"

Lucifer repeated as he raised an eyebrow at her, slightly taken back. He didn't expect Luna of all people to ask him for help. In general, Luna had always seemed pretty capable as a mercenary. Not to mention she looked intimidating as well, despite her young age, so he had never thought about her needing any assistance. However, she was still a human and just a hacker at her, so it would make sense for her to need someone to do the heavy lifting.

"What should I do.. I need to take Fenris to the inn and then.."

Lucifer internally sighed before reluctantly giving in.

"Fine, I'll help you."

Luna perked up immediately, her nervousness disappearing and replaced with slight relief. She let out a sigh and gave him a small nod.

"Thank you so very much."

Lucifer jumped off Fenris, giving him, her, it? A pet. He really hadn't known it's gender so the best course of action was to just use its name.

"Fenris, you can go with Ox."

He then, looked at Oxy who was standing obediently next to Fenris, looking at them and spoke.

"Ox, can you take him back to the inn? I'll catch up with you later."

Ox raised an eyebrow at him, then glanced at Luna skeptically.

He had stayed silent throughout the whole time so far, just watching their exchange but now it seemed like he was going to speak up. Instead, he held back whatever was trying to come out of his mouth and nodded.

"Okay. Sato-san."

He was right, the weather had already begun to get worse, with the cool night breeze picking up even more.

"Yeah, it is getting a bit cold.."

She admitted as she crossed her arms, nodding his head.

Without further words, he turned around and gestured for her to follow him. He could feel her following him, she was walking behind his back to the building's entrance, not too close, but close enough.

He pushed the door open, holding it open for her and let her enter first. She gave him a slight bow of her head in appreciation for his gesture and entered, following him as he went to the left most side of the building, sitting on one of the couch's in the lounge area, the dim blue lights casting a soft glow over their faces.

Luna sat down on the cushion next to him, her body sinking slightly into the material of the couch. She took her time to settle herself, crossing one leg over the other and giving him a small smile.

Lucifer followed her and then spoke.

"It feels more comfortable in here..So, What's this job you need help with?"

Luna nodded in agreement, her body relaxing as her eyes swept over the surrounding area. It was indeed more comfortable in here, the warmth and dim lighting of the lobby making it more pleasant. After a moment of savoring the comfortable ambiance, she remembered the main reason why she came here and turned back to Lucifer.

"Well, about the gig that I need your help with.."

Luna took a moment to choose her words, before speaking up.

"It's a stealing job."

Lucifer's expression didn't change as he heard the word 'stealing'. This sort of mission was relatively common among mercenaries or anyone working under the radar. He didn't really mind that too much, as long as the employer paid well.

"What do we need to steal."

He asked, leaning back into the couch, folding his arms across his armoured chest.

"A car."

"A car?"

Lucifer repeated after her, to confirm this was what she had said.

That was something quite ordinary. He had thought that she would come up with something more complicated. He was a bit surprised but kept his expression neutral as he asked her another question.

"Is it a particular one? And, where would it be located?"

"It's a black liberty belonging to a young corporate executive from Kusonoki Conglomerate."

"Um, forgive me. What's a black liberty?"

Although Lucifer had spend almost a week in this world, there was still much he was yet to learn about. One of them were the modes of transports like the current models of cars in the market.

Luna let out a small huff of laughter, finding his ignorance a little endearing. But she quickly composed herself, realizing how that might sound to him and spoke.

"Right, you don't know what Liberty is. A liberty is a brand name for a line of high-end cars manufactured by a company named Liberty Motors. They're known for producing luxury vehicles with advanced technology and design. They're are only a thousand pieces of the car we need to jack."

Lucifer nodded in understanding as he listened to her explanation about the car. He mentally noted the information, storing it away in his memory. He had to keep in mind that he was in a new world, with new things to learn and that he couldn't pretend to know everything.

"Right. So, stealing a high-end luxury car. And, who're we stealing from?"

Luna's smile faded slightly as she took in his question. This was the part that she was hesitant about.

She paused for a moment, before finally replying.

"We'll be stealing it from a young corporate executive in the Kusonoki Conglomerate. His name is Tsuyou Masumaru.. He's the grandson of one of the conglomerate's executives."

"The Kusonoki conglomerate..right."

Lucifer repeated after her.

"Mhmm. So, our client should have posted a notice here about that..as for the reward, you can keep all of it."

So, they were doing this as a request from a client, most likely. But, the fact that she had said that he could keep all the reward money was a bit intriguing to him..

He couldn't help but raise an eyebrow in his mind, as he looked at her for a moment, his red eyes studying her face before he spoke up.

"Why's that? I can keep all the money, that's all of it? You're not going to take your cut?"

"Umm..I'm actually doing this request to get some discount on a cybnertic I want. That's my reward."

Lucifer's initial confusion was replaced by slight surprise as she explained the reason for her offer. So, she wanted a discount for some sort of cybernetic implant. He found it slightly odd that she was willing to go through all this trouble just to get a discount, but he supposed everyone had their own motivations and with how expensive a few of them were, he couldn't blame her.

He leaned back into the couch again, crossing his arms across his chest.

"Alright, you're the boss. So, what will be our plan..?"

Luna smiled, a slight sense of relief washing over her. He was willing to help her, and didn't ask any more inconvenient questions. Her mind was already coming up with a plan.

"Our target usually spends weekends like these in underground fight clubs, betting on the fights. So, how about you participate in them just as a distraction and in the meantime, I'll take down the car's security systems and jack it. Then, I'll call you and we can escape."

The plan, despite its simplicity, sounded solid. It wasn't anything overly complicated and from the information she had, it did look like it would work out.

"You've put some thought into this."

He replied with a small smirk, he had to give her props for that much. He stood up from the couch, straightening his armor in the process, his body towering over Luna like a mountain.

"Indeed."

She looked up at him and couldn't help but notice how tall he was. He had a good two feet above her, making her feel small in comparison. It wasn't a bad thing but, she had to tilt her head up quite a lot just to see his face properly which was still hidden by his mask.

He looked down at her and for a moment, before speaking up.

"When are these fight clubs held? Tonight?"

"Yes. They usually start in the late night."

She replied, standing up from the couch as well. Her body only reached a bit above his shoulder, he was truly quite tall.

Lucifer thought over her words, a hand raising to his chin subconsciously as he mentally made a note of the information.

"And, the target is definitely going to be there?"

"Definitely. Every night, during the weekend, without fail.. He has a habit of going, never skipping out even once."

Her answer was immediate as she said this with confidence. She appeared to have done her research well.

"I see.. That's good."

He nodded, the small smirk still on his face. He was impressed by how thorough she had prepared this plan. He was still a bit sceptical of whether it would work out or not, but that was just his usual cautious mindset.

"I don't have any problems with this, then, why don't we depart?"

"Right, let's get moving then."

Luna replied, a sense of anticipation rising within herself. The plan had been set, and she hoped it would go exactly as she wanted, so that she could get the cybernetic she had her eyes on for months.

With that, they turned around, ready to depart.
