Hollow

3 to 50 & 1 to 100

Saul, Taguchi, and Nomi — Member's of the blood wolf's climbed to the second floor, running up the blood stained stair's. Quite a commotion was happening due to the mercenary team now realising they were under attack. Why did they not prepare when Luna had disabled all their weapons and tech? The answer was quite simple.

Sometimes, due to the starlight some system which surrounded Japan, many places could experience technical difficulties. They had assumed that this might be the reason for their tech getting jammed.

However, they were now aware.

Saul could hear the shouting from the other side of the metal door and the sound of boots marching towards their location. From the sounds of the shouting, it seemed like the number of people in the room might be over a hundred.

Since they were on a raised metal platform which connected the first floor to he second, they didn't have many spaces to hide and as soon as the door would open, they would be ripped to shreds with bullets.

Saul turned around and leaned against the wall. He could feel Nomi's nerves getting the better of her, but he didn't have to look to see that. He could hear her heart thumping loudly, as well as the nervous gasps that escaped her lips.

He glanced at Taguchi who was getting his sniper ready, crouching and aiming it at the door, ready to shoot as soon as it opens.

Saul put his hand on Nomi, trying to calm her down by touching her shoulder. Nomi flinched at the sudden soft touch, her cheeks turning a little red.

She gulped and looked at Saul who was standing beside her, his hand on her shoulder.

"Calm down."

He said.

"Mhmm.. I'm fine."

She replied, taking in a deep breath.

Saul noticed the slight trembling in her voice. She was afraid, it was quite clear. Saul didn't mention anything.

Saul reached for his waist, pulling out his red katana. He held it with his right hand, bracing himself as the metal door opened, with a loud swish.

Bullets fired from the room and rained down on them. Saul's ears immediately began ringing from the sound of the gunshots. Some of the bullets pierced through the walls, but none hit Saul or his team due to the large size of the platform.

Nomi, loaded her gun and a deep breath, began firing as she shouted:

"FUCK YOU ALL!"

She screamed at the top of her lungs, her cheeks turning red due to anger?

No, it was more like erattic excitement.

As she fired, she began moving closer and closer to the enemies, while Saul was still standing behind. He didn't rush in head-on because he was worried about Nomi. He was sure that his own abilities would keep him safe, but what about her? Was she strong enough to protect herself?

Suddenly, a bullet flew past him, missing him by a centimetre, and shot through a glass window. The glass window shattered, and a cold wind blew in.

Nomi continued running towards the attackers, which continued her stream of curses, firing at them and letting out another stream of bullets.

The bullets of the other party could not keep up with the bullets of Nomi's rifle as they only let off a few shots, with what working weapons they had.

As Nomi's bullets made contact, they exploded.

The bullets hit them fast and hard, they were not able to react in time, with the sound of a small 'thud' being heard as the bullets exploded.

The bullets' explosion didn't just kill the people who got hit by the bullets. The explosion was strong enough to cause a chain reaction, causing a huge blast. The explosive power of the bullets was so high, that it made anything they made contact with burst like blood balloons.

The chain reaction had killed many of the mercenaries in the room, the chain reaction was strong enough to even rip off the metal door, and throw it flying. Due to the large mass of the metal door — Some poor guy or girl was hit by the flying door which ripped through their body like paper, covering the area with blood, guts, and flesh.

Saul took in a deep breath, his grip on his katana tightened. He could feel bloodlust rising within him. He was a mercenary himself, so killing strangers were common. However, for some reason, today he was feeling something else, as if some bloodlust bubbling inside of him was finally being let out.

The chain explosion caused by Nomi had raised up a cloud of dust, taking advantage of which Taguchi had thrown a smoke grenade in there, causing the visibility to lower even more with only silhouettes being visible of the enemy.

Saul could hear a guy shouting.

"It's a smoke grenade, don't shoot!"

"Keep in contact! No one goes out!"

"The dust is getting in, turn on the fans, hurry! —"

Saul could hear all of this, but the guy who was trying to give order's was cut off by a loud boom.

Nomi's gun fired, hitting the guy who had been firing the orders, but in the dust, it wasn't clear where he had been shot at. However, Saul realised it didn't matter, because of the loud thop followed.

At that same moment, he made a beeline into the room holding his katana.

Saul darted inside the room quickly, his vision was temporarily blurry due to the dust, however, it was all he needed to take down the enemies. He slashed the throat of someone the moment he went inside, and then continued his onslaught, slashing away anything that got near him.

Saul was not a person who would ever lose his focus once he had made a target.

He was a ruthless hunter who did not look back. It was a cramped place, so it was easy to kill the nearest guy.

He moved fast, his feet stepping over the bodies on the floor, the dust floating around him and making it hard to see anything but blurs. However, that was the least of Saul's concern as he slashed the katana across a person's abdomen.

His movement, on the contrary were graceful, like a panther dancing through the battlefield elegantly.

As he slashed the person's abdomen, the blade cut through the tissue and muscles, going deep into the body. Blood sprayed up in the air, hitting the person behind him, and also making Saul's clothes more bloody.

The slashed person choked up blood and fell. However, he made use of the momentum from the initial attack, and used it to go for the next person. However, he didn't slash the person with the same slash he had used on the first person. Instead he slashed the next person's neck, blood splattering from the deep wound.

The other's in the room, were surprised for a moment due to the speed at which he was moving, their bodies had went tense as soon as he attacked and had no chance to move.

A mercenary aimed his gun at Saul, his fingers about to pull the trigger, the bullet which would've been fired would've directly went through the back of Saul's skull and exited through his forehead.

Before the person's finger touched the trigger, Taguchi was already on top of him, metaphorically.

Taguchi covered for Saul, firing first as the mercenary fell to the ground before avenging his comrades.

When blood sprayed from behind Saul, a few drops hitting him in his face, he finally realised what happened.

Saul looked at Taguchi, and shouted.

"Thanks!"

Taguchi simply gave him a small smirk in return, as if to say "no problem."

Then, Saul turned his head to look in front of him. They were clear, but a mess had been made.

Before Saul could take a moment to catch his breath, he could feel someone trying to rush behind him. He was quite used to people trying to sneak up on him.

Instead of moving to the side to avoid the person trying to grab him from behind, he bent his back, his legs still facing the front, he leaned forward, taking advantage of the person's mistake he had done a back kick. Saul's back kicked the person's face, which he didn't expect. Saul's legs moved in a graceful arc before delivering a powerful kick that sent the enemy flying.

And as soon as the person was spotted by Taguchi, a bullet flew through his head.

Saul looked around, there were no more enemies around except for the dead bodies numbering roughly fourty, though it was quite hard to tell since some of them had been reduced to pieces of meat, they were definitely less than fifty.

Way less than the hundred he had thought were coming.

Taguchi walked up to him and tapped him on the shoulder. Saul turned to look at him.

Taguchi's face had a small but smug smile on it.

"Looks like they can't handle us."

Saul let out a breathy laugh in return.

"Yeah."

Saul could feel goosebumps as he looked at the bloody mess in front of him and his comrades behind him.

His clothes were blood-soaked, and a bit wet due to the sweat that was dripping down from his body. The floor was slippery with the amount of blood and intestines which were spilled.

Internally sighing, he glanced at Taguchi and Nomi, both were taking in deep breaths, reloading their weapons, wiping any stray blood drops on their faces, etc.

He could only be glad that they were fine, he had already lost one of his comrades in this mission, losing just one more would be fatal.

Such a situation couldn't be allowed to happen again.

However, all things would come to an end, even this bloodbath. Shaking his katana to get the blood off it, which dropped down to the floor in big droplets. Saul began to speak to his companions, breaking the silence.

"Come on."

Taguchi, upon seeing Saul move, put away his sniper rifle, while Nomi slid her gun back to its holster.

"Let's keep moving."

Lucifer pulled out his broadsword from above his shoulder, holding it with his right hand. He looked intimating, with his height and the armour giving the illusion of what would be a man less and machine more. However, he was fully organic.

The men and women in the room noticed their (Oxy and Lucifer) presence and those who didn't were altered by Lucifer's loud one liner which sounded so bad, it would have gotten him atleast ten jokes from his friends.

Lucifer looked down at his side, oxy was standing still, not worried in the slightest. Of course, why would he be. These humans were like ants compared to him, it would only require one spell from oxy to kill all of them. However, that would be unfair.

So, why not have some fun.

"Oxy, you can go into the control room and take care of everything there. I'll handle them."

"Roger."

Oxy nodded, then went off to the control room.

Lucifer looked back at the humans in the room, taking in their surprised expressions and appearances. Taking step forward made his armour shine under the light. It seemed to amplify the intimidating aura around him.

The men knew this was an enemy and so, they began to gear up, grabbing their guns which were resting on their sides while other activated their cyberware.

Despite the seriousness of it all, the way they fumbled with their gear made it seem comical. A few got into position behind various makeshift covers. Some hid behind tables which they had turned over, and some hid behind their beds.

One of them, which he could only assume to be higher ranked than the other's began barking order's.

"DON'T FALTER! THERE'S ONLY ONE ENEMY, SHOOT ALL AT ONCE!"

While barking orders, his eyes went towards Lucifer, the way they were narrowed showed that he was analyzing him, checking him for any weak spots he could exploit.

Sadly, there were none.

Of course, he didn't know that.

Hearing the order's, the other's aimed. The sound of guns and weapons being readied could be heard throughout the entire room. It was almost as if a whole army was going against a single person.

However, no matter how much one tried, if one went against a higher being they would always lose, no exceptions. Their attacks would not change the outcome of this fight, not even a little.

After all, if this were a story, maybe they could use "the power of friendship" to overcome this unsurmountable wall and win. However, this was reality.

Unfortunately for them, it didn't work that way.

The others began getting prepared, loading their weapons and aiming at Lucifer from behind the cover they were hiding in, their fingers were resting on the triggers and it seemed like they were moments away from shooting.

While the other's were doing that, Lucifer could hear footsteps behind him, tightening his grip against his broadsword, he without looking back, rotated his upper body, alongside his feet which were planted firmly on the ground. As his arms swung, so did the broadsword. Blood went flying everywhere as the bodies of two men holding katana's were expertly sliced in half.

The other's had all opened fire, a wave of bullets going towards him, however the bullets were as slow as a snail in comparison to his lightning-fast reaction. It was nothing in front of his speed.

Before his body had turned back to its original position, they had fell to the ground with the sickening sound.

Lucifer spun around, spinning the broadsword with him as well. It was a beautiful thing, the way he moved was nothing less than amazing.

However, it wasn't a beautiful sight for the mercenaries to see their friends fall in a matter of seconds. They weren't monster's in a game, they were humans filled with emotion's — anger, hate, and sadness.

The guy who was barking orders just moments ago clenched his jaw, while other's had expressions which would've made even stoic people flinch.

"Just who is this guy.."

A bead of sweat ran down from his forehead, while he tried to keep his nervousness off his face.

Lucifer grabbed the nearest bed to him with his free hand, the sheets and mattress falling off it and used it like a shield. Even though the bullets couldn't penetrate his armour and didn't do any damage to him, they were annoying just due to their sheer number. They also clouded his vision.

The sound of bullets hitting the bed frame as well as the floor where the bed was previously sitting on, created an irritating sound. It disrupted the flow of the atmosphere and made it seem like there were ants biting him.

It barely took a few more seconds for the bullets to start piercing through the bed, hitting him.

As soon as that happened, Lucifer threw it towards a group of four men who were hiding behind a drawer, it crashed on them, crushing the neck of one while injuring the other three.

The men looked up at the sight of him, their expression's shifting between confusion and disbelief. Then, before they even got a chance to react, he moved forward again.

He dashed in front of a trio who were firing at him, slowly inching slower.

"Ah?"

One of them said before Lucifer swung at him, slicing his neck clean off, beheading him as it fell to the ground like a ball.

The other two let out noises:

"So quick!"

"UWAHH!"

Either of them grabbed a knife from their pockets as their rifles had been emptied, one of them pulled out a grenade and threw it at Lucifer, sadly Lucifer catched it and send it back to its sender.

The grenade was sent flying back at them, his throw was perfect, it was right on target. The explosion was small but it send the other man and the grenade guy flying, both of their backs collided against the wall, a loud 'Thud' echoed through the room. Not giving them a chance to regain their balance, he dashed forward again.

This was turning out be a bit too simple and boring, which wasn't something Lucifer appreciated. At least they were having some sort of reaction, so a bit of fun wasn't impossible.

His legs moved in a graceful arc, his body bent forward due to the momentum as he swung his arm back, the broadsword following.

One of them tried to slash at him, hoping for it to slow him down. However, that proved to be useless as Lucifer blocked the slash with brute strength. He grabbed the arm of his attacker and swung him around like a bat, sending him flying from the momentum and crashing into the others while he sliced the neck of the other who was leaning against the wall, having taken internal damage due to the point black explosion from the grenade.

Seeing this, the other's couldn't help but feel fear.

"How is he so strong!?"

"He cuts down men like they were cherries."

"They go flying with every stroke."

Lucifer stopped for a moment and spoke.

"My sword is a bit dull, It wouldn't normally cut too well. Although it's four times thicker and heavier than a regular katana, so if you don't die in one slash. You'll wish you had."

The man in the back could only grind his teeth in frustration.

"FUCK YOU!"

After shouting that curse at Lucifer, he glanced at the ninety-ish people in the room.

"All of you, what're you waiting for!? NO MATTER HOW SKILLED HE IS, HE'S JUST ONE MAN! IT'S NO BIG DEAL, JUST SURROUND HIM! THERE ARE A HUNDRED OF US!"

His order was immediately met with a response from one of the people.

"Yeah, but we don't wanna die!"

Hearing that answer, the guy's face darkened. It was clear he was not happy with this answer. Of course, this wasn't what he wanted to hear.

"You're all such cowards!"

"Shut that trap of yours, it's still safer than standing up to fight him."

The guy's jaw locked, and he clenched his teeth in frustration at the fact that he was unable to refute that, which caused an expression of anger to be etched onto his face.

Looking at the man's expression, a small thought suddenly made way into Lucifer's mind.

"He's like a little kid throwing a tantrum, so annoying."

He wasn't wrong, the man was like a little kid. His ugly face was filled with a petulant expression, and he looked as if he wanted to stomp off the ground to show his anger.

His pale hands were clenched into fists so tightly that his nails dug into the skin of his palms, his black eyes were dilated so much that they looked like little buttons. And his teeth were clenched so hard that his mouth seemed like it was locked in place.

Seeing such a sight, Lucifer just wanted to laugh at the other's expression.

"Hey kid."

He spoke, addressing the man. The man looked up, noticing Lucifer was calling out to him. Then he frowned.

"Don't call me that. I am the vice commander of this branch of the blood wolf's! My name is Samson Adriano!!"

Hearing the other's name, Lucifer could barely hold back a scoff. Who thought such a man could hold the title of a vice commander?

But then his attention was diverted to something else.

"He said he was the VC of this branch of the..blood wolf's? Aren't those are the same one's Saul wants to kill."

The blood wolf's, there were two teams in Japan with this name, the first was the mercenary squad led by Saul who wanted vengeance against the real blood wolf's, a large clan of a 1000+ member's. Since it was a "clan."

Whatever that means, they probably had different branches, It would make sense to have a mercenary branch too and these real blood wolf mercenaries must have been a rough group.

There had been a lot of rumours about them on the streets too. He didn't know what the truth was behind those rumours, but it had been said that they were a clan of vicious murderers who could even kill their own kind.

These one's he had encountered seemed clam, this branch could have been an expectation since they were hired by the Kusonoki conglomerate's themselves so they had to be on their best behaviour.

Even though there were many things he wanted to know, he wouldn't be able to get any information out if the other's continued attacking him.

"I guess Saul will appreciate this."

Lucifer mused internally before looking at Samson who had shouting at other's.

"WON'T ANYONE HERE GET REVENGE FOR THEIR FALLEN BROTHERS!? YET YOU CALL YOURSELF MEMBER'S OF THE BLOOD WOLF'S!"

As if on cue, the others hiding behind beds responded.

"Should we? They were the one who got themselves killed."

"We're just mercenaries, man."

An uncomfortable silenced followed before Samson spoke again.

"Whoever takes his head, i guarantee you three..No, Five times the amount of money you normally get and you'll be put in charge of a squad comprising fifty men."

A few people glanced at each other before asking to themselves and others.

"Five times..what do you think?"

"I bet he can't move too well after facing so many bullets..If five of us were to take him, we could win."

Lucifer ignored all that, and mused to himself:

"Not a bad offer.. considering their place."

The five men who were discussing the offer near Lucifer nodded to each other, smiling, as they picked up katana's and ran towards him.

"Right.. they're idiots."
