Hollow

[Intermission]

Dark walked through the Second floor of the Great House of his lord. The hard soles of his leather shoes clacked loudly against the ground, and the echoes faded away into silence. Many vassals had been set out to maintain security, but they did not impair the mythic atmosphere in this place.

Dark looked around, and suddenly smiled.

"…Truly magnificent."

The object of his admiration was the room of his lord. It was a place which complemented the thirteen godly Beings, the entities for whom Dark would abandon everything and pledge his utmost loyalty. Therefore, Dark loved and cherished everything here but if he had to choose between the twelve friend's of his master and his master — he would always choose the latter.

Joy filled dark heart every time he walked through this place, further reinforcing his devotion to his creator. It was not just dark who felt this way; even the blood knight's were awed into silence by this floor, and strove to preserve its quiescence.

Anyone who was not delighted by the sights here, who was not sufficiently loyal to the one and only lord of this world and must surely have "disloyal tendencies."

It was something that could be seen in the eyes. If the eye's were the doors to the soul, the doors of one's loyalty would naturally be clear to anyone with a talent for judging people.

That was also the case with Dark. He could gauge the loyalty of anyone just by looking into their eyes. He had no need for any special ability, it was simply something that came naturally to him.

Right now, he should've been on a mission to find the other twelve of his lord's friends but lord Lucifer had granted him a break so today, he is free while some other blood knights whom his lord had summoned searched.

This was also something that surprised him. That his lord was this generous with time given to his vassals.

"Even though that isn't like my lord..."

Dark muttered softly under his breath.

"It's fine. There is still plenty of time." That was how he reassured himself.

Truth be told; he didn't like breaks.

It was a strange thing.

Normally, people would be overjoyed when a vacation or a break is given, especially one of this length but Dark, he didn't look excited at all. In fact his expression was full of gloom instead of the happiness one would expect of someone on break.

He sighed as if trying to release something from within him. He would have preferred being busy but his lord had told him to "relax for a day", and his lord was someone who he had sworn absolute obedience to.

"Maybe something is wrong with me..."

Although that was how he felt, he could not bring himself to deny his lord's command. He told me to not do anything related to my current mission for today but he didn't tell me to not do anything else.

It was as if a lightbulb had popped in his head.

A small, almost invisible smile showed on his face.

"Maybe if I find something to occupy my time, I wouldn't feel so uneasy."

He looked out of the window in front of him and stared off into the distance. The weather looked nice, but it was very hazy, giving the sky a strange appearance.

"Why not meet that human then.."

He had recently encountered an interesting human, one in whom he had a certain interest. That human too was a servant of his master and the first one his master had made at that. That human was loyal to the cause of Lucifer the light bringer — the fallen angel of darkness. Normally, dark wouldn't even look at a lower life form with any sort of emotion expect for disgust but for this one human, he could make an exception.

He was, a strange one. Dark didn't understand his master's tastes, he really didn't understand why that human was chosen. He wouldn't go as far as to say it was a bad decision but rather, a strange one. Dark didn't care if his lord was making the best decision or the worst; it all came down to the fact that he obeyed all orders given to him without question. It's what loyalty looked like and of course, any decisions his master made were the best. No matter how weird they may seem at first, they always produced the best results.

Although, even knowing all of that, Dark could not bring himself to understand his lord's reasons for choosing that human. But, it was not a big deal either. After all, it was not Dark's place to question his lord's intentions or choices.

"[True teleportation]."

A golden glow appeared around Dark, and in the blink of an eye, he vanished from his previous location. He then reappeared in a new location. This new place was a pent house.

The room was large, but sparsely furnished, it was as if someone was packing up and about to move out.

The ceiling was high and the walls were a clean, matte white.

A black leather sofa was the only furniture that stood out, it's cushions deep and wide — it appeared comfortable and in front of it was a 100inc Tv.

There were no paintings or other decorations. This place had an oddly emotionless feel to it.

On the sofa was sitting a human.

The first thing that struck Dark was how young this human looked. He looked to be in his early twenties with an almost effeminate face, the type that would draw the eyes of female's. However, this person didn't look feminine, despite his appearance he seemed to exude a faint air of masculinity. Not an air of aggression or dominance but of determination.

The young human took notice of the newcomer and sat up straight, looking in the direction he'd appeared from. His facial expression was as calm as could be, he neither looked surprised or shocked on the outside but internally, it was a different story.

The man looked up and down at Dark — who was a Higher doppelganger.

"…Well, you certainly weren't in my list of expected visitors…"

The man had spoken, his voice was deep and his words slow as his eyes roamed over dark.

"You mean you weren't expecting me?"

Dark answered, his own gaze not budging even a bit as he stared directly into the other man's eyes.

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

The doppelganger' stood there, it was like naked human male but with pale skin without genitals, its face hidden by a featureless mask. Its limbs were long and thin, and it had long, spider-like finger's that seemed to twitch and move on their own.

Despite its humanoid appearance, there was something distinctly uncanny about it, a sense of otherworldliness that set it apart from a real human.

This was its base form.

Why had dark took his base form?

Because if this human was scared by him, he wasn't worthy.

"Yes, I wasn't expecting you."

The human — Hiroshi' Ishikawa — said

"Then, your intuition isn't great."

Dark replied bluntly. He didn't move from his position, and neither did Hiroshi. His gaze remained unflinching and steady, but he was wary.

"Well, when lord Lucifer made me his servant, he was alone. You weren't there with him so i can only assume you were created after I became his servant that means it isn't possible for me to have known your existence nor that you will be coming to me."

Dark remained silent for a few moments, and then shrugged.

"Fair enough."

"So what brings you here anyways?"

Hiroshi asked, now shifting his entire focus on the doppelganger.

"Well, let me formally introduce myself first."

Dark stood up to his full height, raising his head straight as he did so. He looked down on Hiroshi, who was still sitting down.

"My name is Dark — A level 90 — Higher doppelganger — I serve the lord of this world and am one of the many vassals of lord Lucifer the Light bringer."

Hiroshi was silent upon hearing that, he too raised his head, looking up at the doppelganger who had now revealed his name.

A level 90.

The higher doppelganger before him was definitely much stronger than the previous doppelganger Lucifer had summoned.

A moment of silence passed. Hiroshi got up from his seat to better meet the doppelganger's gaze.

"I guess it's only fair for me to give a introduction too."

Hiroshi stopped for a moment, a strange, almost cold glint appearing in his eyes. He then raised a hand and pointed straight at Dark.

"My name is Hiroshi Ishikawa —— a level 0 — human, and the first servant of the lord of this world —— Lucifer the Light bringer."

Dark was quite surprised at the statement.

Level 0.

This man in front of him was only level 0.

Dark was quite surprised at the statement.

Level 0.

This man in front of him was only level 0 but he couldn't say anything as the natives of this world didn't have the concept of levels so he couldn't blame him.

Although it wouldn't be wrong to say that it was more ridiculous. This human, who had no way to protect himself — let alone fight and he had said that he was in service of his lord.

"Hmph. Level 0..."

Dark sneered, obviously derision in his words as he made it clear how low he saw the other man.

"Does it matter if one is a level 100 or a level 0? We both serve the same lord."

"Yes, we both do serve the same lord."

Dark said.

"So, what were you here for?"

"Well of course, lord Lucifer granted me a day off today from my duties so i came here to discuss some things with you."

"You wanted to discuss something with me?"

Hiroshi looked at Dark with a somewhat incredulous look upon his face — as if he couldn't quite understand why he would come all the way just for this.

"What do you want to discuss?"

"The world domination plan."

Dark said seriously.

There was no need to hide the purpose of his visit, as this human was also loyal to Lucifer as he was. Hiroshi was visibly taken aback by this statement and he asked in a slightly surprised tone:

"You want to discuss that here? Wait a minute then."

Hiroshi was clearly a bit uneasy about discussing something so confidential in a place like this and so, he had to take some security measures.

Hiroshi' took out a button from his left pocket, and pressed it. The windows began to close themselves, the door's all became locked and other such things.

"Sorry, you can never be too careful."

Hiroshi said apologetically and sheepishly.

Dark nodded in agreement, "That is wise."

"Well then, take a seat."

Hiroshi said, taking his own seat on the black leather sofa once again.

Dark took a seat next to him.

"I assume you know of the world domination plan?"

Dark said, getting right to the point as soon as he sat down.

"Of course I do."

Hiroshi replied, clearly a little bit puzzled that he asked something so obvious.

Hiroshi took a pause and then continued:

"I've already began to make preparations for the cult of light."

"That's good, have there been any problems while doing so?"

Dark inquired while tilting his head slightly to the side.

"As expected, there's a lot of obstacles."

Hiroshi said matter-of-factly.

"Such as?"

Dark asked, knowing that there would be problems when creating a cult.

"I have the starting member's but there's many things such as where to build our HQ and many such things."

"Have you been making any progress on this?"

Dark asked and Hiroshi nodded in response.

"I've settled on two locations which have suitable places for the base."

Hiroshi reached over to a coffee table and picked up a folder and a small notebook.

"These are the locations I've noted down."

The folder held several different pictures of different area's and the notebook had details on them including the estimated costs for each site. Dark looked at the information and nodded slowly.

"How about making a location yourself, a fake base for when anything goes wrong which i believe won't but it's best to be prepared and it will also act as the HQ for your cult."

Hiroshi nodded his head as he considered this — it wasn't a bad idea. The idea of creating a fake base was a very good one, because it would draw attention away from the real HQ, wherever Lucifer may make that.

"And what about the construction and stuff.."

"I'll talk to lord Lucifer about that, he'll arrange something. As a matter of fact, no let's not trouble him, I'll send some of my own minions."

Dark said and Hiroshi nodded in agreement.

"That's good. I feel that there's a lot to do still, so much it's a bit overwhelming.."

He said — as if all of this was weighing down on him.

Dark could understand the difficulty of the task. Creating a cult from ground up to support the plan to conquer the world — it was extremely difficult. Even through a servant of a being like Lucifer should do everything in his power to further his plans, dark couldn't blame him. After all, Hiroshi was just a human.

"I can tell you are doing your best."

Dark said and Hiroshi felt a little bit reassured.

"Thank you..."

The words came out from his mouth before he could think, a small, grateful smile appeared on his lips.

"Well, why not decide what we should do after the cult is formed?"

Dark said, and though he spoke in a serious tone, there was curiosity in his words. Hiroshi's attention turned from his notebook to Dark.

"Do you have any ideas?"

"Of course. Once the cult is formed and all the preparations are in place, the main mission will began."

"Which will be...?"

Hiroshi inquired, Dark's answer piquing his interest.

"Taking over Japan, of course."

There was no doubt in that statement.

Hiroshi and Dark knew that they could not simply take over the whole world in one go; so, the plan was to first take over Japan, and then expand.

"Of course, taking over Japan is also no easy task. There are many potential obstacles and possible complications."

Hiroshi said as the thought flashed through his head. And those obstacles included more than just the local government.

Dark continued:

"Anyways, you can focus on your cult for now. Can you prepare me a list of individuals who are worthwhile looking into."

"What do you mean by "worthwhile?""

Hiroshi asked, confused by the word. And Dark understood his confusion, saying bluntly to get his point across:

"People with talent that could be useful to us — a list of potential servant's, humans that would be useful to our lord."

"Potential servant's..."

Hiroshi repeated the word slowly, mulling over them. Hiroshi could understand the gist of what that meant.

"You want to find humans with valuable skills and recruit them."

Dark nodded, "That is correct, after all. The people who will be working for our lord in the future."

"I can prepare the list, give me a day."

"That fast? Then I look forward to it."

Dark said and Hiroshi looked a little troubled at the response.

"It's a bit hard to make one since I have to judge people by myself, but don't expect anything too impressive."

A list of potential servant's was a big responsibility, even though Hiroshi knew that a list of this calliper wouldn't be perfect.

"It's fine, I can sort through them," dark said as he stood up.

Hiroshi stood up as well, he could see that the higher doppelganger was about to leave.

"Before you go..."

His words made Dark pause, and he turned to face him.

"Yes?"

Dark responded to him.

"There is a matter of some curiosity to me."

Hiroshi said and dark's eyebrow raised, wondering what matter did this human find curious.

"How do we plan to getting rid of the government?"

"Civil war."

Dark said bluntly.

A brief feeling of disbelief flashed through Hiroshi's mind and then he realised that this decision, was actually completely logical. The best and fastest way to take over a country was through civil war. And, the best way to cause a civil war? Through public dissent and political unrest, which was achieved by making a large — and somewhat influential — number of people oppose the government and this was already on cue without them needing to do much. All that was needed was a push in the right direction.

"I see. Thank you."

Hiroshi said before the demon in front of him vanished into thin air.
