The day of the ritual had arrived. The hall for our gate had been finished. There were still some interior things missing, like merchant stalls. But the overall structure was complete.

The gate stood in the middle of the large hall. We had a cobblestone floor but the gate itself was rammed into the soil and further secured by roots connected to our dryads. There was an underground circle made of mithril, to hide it from curious eyes. Roots were wrapped around the circle as well.

The grove was partially powering this endeavour. But the gem was the main source of magic. Tyrell, our smith, made an adamantium socket for it. We placed it at the top of the gate. The roots went all the way up to it.

Thessia had helped us with the design of the socket and she had shared certain runes with me, to get the most out of the divine magic. I had a feeling Sylphania was greatly amused that Imperius' power was used to open a gate to hell.

It was a historic moment. All of our maid knights were here. The envoy was looking really nervous and kept touching her saber. Erin was rather nervous too, Lilith had already returned to hell a day before to set things up.

"Let's get started!" I announced. Lucy was next to me, as were Shani and Lily.

Erin walked up to us. Then she started a smaller ritual with the help of Lily. A mirror image of Lilith appeared.

"Hello. Are we ready?" She inquired.

"All good on our end." I replied.

"Hehehehehe." Shani was laughing. She had brought some blood, which was inside a giant floating blob. She had argued it would help nourish the circle. Mostly I think she just wanted to dump blood everywhere.

We took our positions and I started the ritual. I began to feed my magic into it. So did Lucy. I was using 8 of my 9 tier nine slots. Lucy provided an additional two. It was a lot of magic. Further we unleashed our auras to cover the area.

Lucy's power mixed with mine as I directed it through the ritual. I heard a gasp from mirror Lilith as her side activated. I could see magic flow with my Eyes of the Fey. It was beautiful. Our ritual reached out through the planes and found Lilith. The ancient gate started glowing as it came online. Shani's blob burst and drenched the gate in blood. Blood that was slowly absorbed by the roots. Then the roots became electrified. For a moment the entire gate was covered in lightning. The earth began to shake. The air inside the gate shimmered and turned red.

The inside of the gate simply looked like blood. You could not see what was on the other side but it was clearly a magical gate. I was not sure if the sinister look was Shani's influence or simply the nature of a gate to hell.

As I marvelled at our creation Erin immediately rushed through. Mirror Lilith had disappeared. The spell was no longer needed, I suppose. I licked my lips, thinking of culinary delights. "Shall we?" I asked.

"Weeeee! Let's go slaughter things in hell!" Shani charged ahead.

"Let's go!" Lucy said, her tails wagging.

We stepped through the portal and found ourselves in a different world. I blinked and looked around. The air was dry and hot. The sun had a rather reddish taint. We were standing on a plaza built with black stone. In front of us was Lilith, bleeding. Bleeding?

"What happened?" I asked. Erin was rushing towards the demon lord with a sword in her hand.

A blueish succubus was standing there as well. She held a black spear with red glowing lines on its shaft. The succubus had wings, indicating she was a greater succubus.

"Thank you for weakening her. I shall take over now. I am happy to negotiate…" Before the demon could finish a scythe made of lighting was coming for her face. She hastily parried it.

"SLAUGHTER THE TRAITORS!" Shani exclaimed. "KNIGHTS OF THE STORM, WITH ME!"

I could feel a pulse through our bond. The other maid knights appeared, even some of the dryads. It seemed as if they could enter this realm, at least close to the gate.

I had no idea why that succubus had attacked Lilith, but she was our ally. And I would stand by her.

"Surrender, or face my Wrath." I spoke in a calm and cold voice. I put some magic into it to cover a large area. Then I unleashed my aura. A storm started to rage and lightning fell onto the traitors. Lucy was already transforming.

"Kill them, they are weak from the ritual!" The blue succubus shouted but she sounded desperate.

Erin was dragging her wounded mistress away, towards the gate. Our forces charged and the slaughter began. The rebel force was not prepared for the might of the maid knights. Or an enraged kitsune. Or a determined storm elemental lord.

I did not charge into the battle, my people did not need me. Instead I walked towards Lilith. "Are you ok?"

She smiled weakly. "I am not dead but I am at your mercy. That spear had a magical poison. Something potent. It won't kill me but it is weakening me. I am afraid it comes from a different demon lord. I exhausted most of my spell slots activating the ritual. They stabbed me when my guard was down. I should have worn armour, not a ceremonial robe…"

"You are going to be fine, mistress!" Erin assured her.

"Will I?" Lilith looked at me.

"Sure. I am afraid I do not have magic to heal such a poison. Maybe Thessia can help. I have to admit, I did not expect a rebellion." I replied.

Lilith closed her eyes and sighed. "Maybe my time with you has made me soft. I should have seen it coming. I was not here for a while to keep an eye on my court. Sianderis has always been ambitious. I am afraid she made a deal with a different demon lord. They might have bribed her to get the portal. There is likely an army coming. Sianderis is not that smart. I am sure whoever supported her will double cross her to take the portal."

"If more come, we will crush them. You just recover." I told her.

Then I faced the battle. Lilith was not really one of mine. But she had become a friend, sort of. And nobody was allowed to hurt my friends. Not all succubi had betrayed Lilith. Quite a few of them seemed confused.

"Anyone loyal to Queen Lilith, we are on your side. Your queen is wounded and has been betrayed by Sianderis. Everyone standing with the traitors will be eliminated." I proclaimed.

My eyes started to glow. It was time to teach someone a lesson.
