Merchant From Earth in the Magical World

Chapter 267 Support for Yan Xing_2

"Tell her that Count Theodore and I will soon quell this insurrection."

After finishing, Yan Xing had Olaf allocate a Werewolf squad to Li Jiya for her to lead in support of the Rose Court.

After a short rest, Eddie led a thousand of the Guild's Mercenaries from the embassy toward the square they were to capture.

Facing this large army, the plundering mercenaries and bandits scattered.

The square wasn't a strategic location. Upon Eddie's arrival with his troops, they swiftly took control of the area, then spread their forces out to establish defensive lines by seizing high points on rooftops.

Meanwhile, the mercenaries pushing toward the Lord's Mansion encountered a rebel group assaulting it. The rebels, few in number, were scattered by two volleys from the mercenaries' muskets.

Upon receiving this news, Eddie reinforced the defensive lines in the direction of the Lord's Mansion, established over ten anti-air rocket launcher positions, and then reported to Yan Xing that the square had been occupied by their forces.

Subsequently, fifty cannons, escorted by a detachment of Guild's Mercenaries, advanced towards the square.

Yan Xing, atop the main building of the embassy, rode Yan Xing into the sky with ten Griffons.

「Seven hours had now passed since the insurrection began that morning.」

Fires raged throughout Nuta City, black smoke billowing into the sky.

Yan Xing led the Griffon Troop, rapidly ascending before leveling off to approach the Lord's Mansion.

He didn't charge straight into the Lord's Mansion but circled around it, gradually closing the distance.

Count Theodore's Lord's Mansion in Nuta City was an independent castle enclosed by a high wall, surrounded by open ground. Thus, the rebels could only mount a direct assault on the Lord's Mansion.

At that moment, the rebels had not yet breached the Lord's Mansion's outer wall defenses. They were held at bay by Archers and Mages on the walls, forcing the rebels to take shelter in nearby buildings.

Archers crowded the four corner towers of the Lord's Mansion, while catapults and ballistae on several high platforms provided fire support for the outer wall defenses from their commanding positions.

Atop the Magic Tower in the rear courtyard of the Lord's Mansion, a Magic Light Sphere floated above the spire. This Magic Light Sphere allowed heroes within the Lord's Mansion to quickly recover their Magic Power and provided energy for magical devices.

Indeed, the Lord's Mansion seemed unassailable. Attackers would need several times the defenders' strength to breach it.

The attacking rebels knew well that the Lord's Mansion was a tough nut to crack; their tactic wasn't to storm it in a short time. The rebels amassed nearly two hundred Griffons to conduct harassing attacks on the Lord's Mansion from the air, aiming to exhaust its Griffons and ultimately seize air superiority.

On the ground, rebels relied on defensive cover to continually hurl massive boulders at the castle with trebuchets. In addition to depleting the Lord's Mansion's Magic Power, any hits on soldiers were a bonus. After all, most of the buildings in Nuta City were made of stone – there was no shortage of ammunition.

Next, ground forces repeatedly launched feints from various directions at the Lord's Mansion, while employing Mages and crack Archers to pinpoint and eliminate the guards on the outer walls. Although each attack didn't injure many, the cumulative effect was a considerable drain on the defending troops. It also exerted significant psychological pressure on the defenders.

The rebels assaulting the Lord's Mansion were remarkably professional!

After circling in the air a few times, Yan Xing gained a rough understanding of the situation at the Lord's Mansion.

It looks stable, but it's perilous indeed.

Yan Xing knew Count Theodore's troop deployment. He didn't have many loyal troops he could control, yet there were many places in the city that needed defending. The four city gates had to be held to prevent people inside from breaking out and causing more damage, and also to stop any potential rabble from entering the city. The armory and supply depots had to be held. The war in the Wildwind Highlands was not over, and as soon as the riots in Nuta City were subdued, supplies had to be sent immediately to Storm City. City officials needed protection. Recruitment buildings and essential facilities needed protection. Forces were needed everywhere, so the defense of the Lord's Mansion could only rely on Count Theodore's personal troops. And even among these personal troops, a portion was dispatched to protect Hibel.

As Yan Xing and his team approached the Lord's Mansion, a group of about thirty rebel Griffons charged towards them.

Yan Xing didn't charge head-on but led his Griffon Troop back towards the embassy. The rebel Griffons pursued for a distance, then all retreated.

News of the battle at the embassy had already spread. Within less than an hour, the army commanded by Gale to attack the embassy had completely collapsed, and Gale went missing. The accompanying Griffons were all annihilated. The army of the Eternal Domain became famous in one battle, and their use of a certain highly powerful Alchemical Weapon in the fight terrified many of the mercenaries who had fled, driving them insane.

News that Yan Xing's embassy had received reinforcements had already spread among the various rebel commanders. The rebels attacking the Lord's Mansion were now even more cautious, guarding against any support from the embassy. They had even formulated a plan to ambush the reinforcements from the embassy. The rebel forces that Eddie's troops encountered were part of that ambush.

When the rebel Gryphon Knights pursuing Yan Xing realized the enemy was leading them toward the embassy, they immediately gave up the chase and pulled back. All they needed to do was to block all the reinforcements outside the Lord's Mansion.

Yan Xing's feint operation did not succeed, so he continued to approach the Lord's Mansion with the Griffons. Occupying a high altitude, he brazenly circled closer to the Lord's Mansion. The rebel Gryphon Knights responsible for interception firmly held their inner perimeter, ready to swoop in and engage as soon as Yan Xing came too close. If Yan Xing avoided combat and retreated, they would pursue him for a certain distance before decisively returning, never straying from their own support range.

This is a tough situation, Yan Xing admitted to himself that, in this situation, he wasn't the type of legendary general capable of slaying an enemy commander amidst thousands of soldiers. Therefore, I still need to use some tactics.

Yan Xing ordered the Gryphon Knights following him to continue leading the Griffon troop to attract the rebel Griffons, while he spurred his mount, Yan Xing, to ascend to even higher altitudes.

From the ground, Yan Xing became a black dot and then disappeared into the sky.

Once reaching a suitable height, Yan Xing patted Yan Xing's neck, then unbuckled all the straps securing him to the saddle. He then jumped off Yan Xing's back.

Yan Xing plummeted from the sky.

Chui Chui in the consciousness space quickly performed calculations, saying, "Master, the air wings are ready. Should I activate them?"

"Activate."

A complex magical array extended from Yan Xing's shoulders as he accelerated his fall. Air elements gathered, forming a wingsuit. Yan Xing shifted from plummeting to gliding, and on the display screen of his protective goggles, his speed rapidly increased while his altitude swiftly decreased.

At that moment, Yan Xing also deployed its wings, diving alongside Yan Xing.

"Yan Xing, cover me. After I enter the Lord's Mansion, take the Griffons back to the embassy and await orders," Yan Xing instructed.

Yan Xing, understanding human speech, responded with a screech. Then, Yan Xing accelerated its dive toward the eastern side of the Lord's Mansion, veering away from Yan Xing. Yan Xing, on the other hand, shifted his gliding path toward the western side of the Lord's Mansion.

The massive figure of Yan Xing was soon spotted by the rebel Gryphon Knights below, and a group of Griffons immediately ascended to intercept "Yan Xing." They hadn't yet realized that the knight was no longer on the back of the diving steed.

Meanwhile, Yan Xing took advantage of the distraction caused by Yan Xing to hasten his descent. His smaller size made him much harder to detect. The rebels' attention was also not focused in that direction.

With Yan Xing's diversion, Yan Xing breached the rebels' aerial defenses.

Chui Chui controlled the wings, increasing their surface area, while simultaneously activating a turbo-jet engine to eject air downwards, cushioning the impact.

Finally, Yan Xing landed heavily on a platform on the Lord's Mansion equipped with a ballista. A ballista was crushed underfoot, its parts scattering. The guards on the platform were stunned by the man who had seemingly fallen from the sky.

Yan Xing rose from his half-squat force-absorption stance, kicked away the remains of the ballista at his feet, and said to the guards, "What are you looking at? Don't you recognize me? Go inform Lord Earl that I've arrived.

"And I've brought reinforcements.

"Please ask Lord Earl to come here. We're going to counterattack!"

The guards recognized Yan Xing. Their spirits lifted further when he mentioned reinforcements.

"Yes, Knight Yan Xing! I will immediately share this great news with my lord. Please wait a moment..."
