Chapter 120: Loss of Student ID Card

The student uniform's fabric tore with a hiss, and several pieces of cloth fluttered down inside the Student Cafeteria.

"Are you okay?" Lin Yi clumsily got up from the ground and hurriedly looked at Li Huiyuan with concern.

Li Huiyuan's face was deathly pale, she gasped for air in panic, touched her front and back, and after feeling no injuries, she finally let out a sigh of relief, "It seems fine... no, not right! My pocket?!"

"My pocket is ruined! Lin Yi, my, my Student ID card is gone!!"

"What?!" Lin Yi's heart skipped a beat.

Li Huiyuan checked again, but soon her expression became even more anxious and uneasy, her forehead now covered with beads of sweat.

"My Student ID card... it was in the pocket of my clothes, the pocket seemed to have torn when that chef ripped my clothes... Could my Student ID card have fallen inside the cafeteria?!"

As she looked at the torn clothes and pocket, anxiety, helplessness, and fear mingled in her heart, leaving her at a loss, disarrayed, and constantly muttering "what to do what to do..."

Lin Yi had no time to speak any comforting words and immediately turned his head toward the plastic strip curtain.

However, the plastic strip curtain indeed acted like a boundary between two worlds, looking through it into the interior of the Student Cafeteria, one could not make out any problems.

Although the green apron chef was right behind the plastic strip curtain, looking through the transparent plastic, nothing could be seen! Only by lifting the plastic strip curtain could one see the real situation inside the Student Cafeteria!

Suddenly, the plastic strip curtain fluttered.

Lin Yi's gaze through the gap saw a line of green apron chefs standing behind the curtain like zombies. Their movements and expressions varied; some had a menacing look and others a vicious smile. Among them, one green apron chef with a somewhat flattened head, was holding some torn fabric strips.

From the pattern of the strips, it was unmistakably from Li Huiyuan's uniform.

It appeared that, even through the plastic strip curtain, it saw Lin Yi and their anxious expressions, then it dropped the fabric strips, revealing a white acrylic card.

The card bore a thorny wreath pattern, unmistakably Li Huiyuan's Student ID card!

"That's my Student ID card!" Li Huiyuan cried out anxiously. She wanted to rush in to grab it, but the sight of the row of green apron chefs deterred her.

Going in to get it, there would be no return.

The green apron chef put the Student ID card to its mouth, extending its tongue to lick the card as if savoring a delicious piece of milk chocolate, its expression both wild and sleazy, as if to infuriate Lin Yi and the others, tempting them to rush in.

"Old Lin, don't be rash!" Wei Shan, usually the most impulsive and irascible, held Lin Yi back at this moment.

"Hmm..." Lin Yi gritted his teeth and nodded. Trying to snatch a Student ID card back from a group of prepared green apron chefs was something he had no confidence in; naturally, he wouldn't take the risk.

Seeing that Lin Yi and the others were unmoved, the green apron chef then opened its mouth and swallowed the Student ID card...

Li Huiyuan clenched her fists tightly, gripped the corner of her clothing, her body shaking with anger and fear, but ultimately it was her reason that suppressed her impulse, resigning herself to furious helplessness.

The wind stopped, and the plastic strip curtain closed, the two worlds seemed once again isolated.

The group's faces looked grim.

[If you lose the Student ID card, it will bring trouble.]

This sentence, underlined and bold, surfaced in Lin Yi's mind, from a notice at the front of the Teaching Building.

He rapidly recalled all the regulations related to "lost Student ID cards" in his mind, but Tian Bufan stopped him, "Old Lin, don't think too much here!"

"Her Student ID card is probably never coming back. Let's leave this place first, then figure out a plan!"

Lin Yi looked toward Li Huiyuan.

Li Huiyuan was still slightly trembling, her complexion ashen, her mind apparently jammed and incapable of thought, her bearings already lost. Seeing Lin Yi's questioning look, she could only purse her lips and then silently said, "I don't know what to do... I'll follow you guys..."

"This place is not safe to stay long; let's leave and talk!" Lin Yi said with an uneasy expression. He glanced at his watch, which showed the time was 11:29.

They left the Student Cafeteria at 11:27 and lingered at the door of the Student Cafeteria for two minutes.

"Hmm." Everyone nodded in agreement.

As they were about to enter the Student Passage, Lin Yi cast a covert glance at the blue apron chef stationed at the entrance. The chef's gaze was still locked on them, especially on Li Huiyuan, as if nothing had changed.

But Lin Yi subtly felt that there was a subtle change in the nature of the blue apron chef's gaze.

Perhaps it was because Li Huiyuan had lost her Student ID card, but even as Lin Yi entered the Student Passage, he could still feel that scorching, painful sensation spreading behind him like a wildfire.

...

May 8, 2023, 11:33, the group stepped out of the steps of the Student Passage.

Feeling the warmth of the sun overhead brought physical comfort, but Lin Yi felt very oppressed mentally.

"First, check yourselves for any tomato sauce." Lin Yi spoke slowly, like a general accounting for casualties after a charge.
