Chapter 107: I Killed It

Year X023, May 8, 7:14 AM.

Dawn's light streamed down from the clear sky, casting a mottled golden gleam on the cobblestone path.

Lin Yi and his party grandly departed from the vicinity of the dormitory building, treading through the thin mist and entering the cafeteria area.

Passing the boundary of the region, Lin Yi observed the streetlights on the dividing line once more.

The numbering on other streetlights was indeed chaotic, but the two closest ones were definitely "Dormitory Building-001" and "Canteen-001".

The moment he entered the cafeteria region, Lin Yi distinctly felt the chill of traversing a water screen again.

"Each building on campus seems to contain an independent space," he suddenly felt moved and couldn't help but sigh, "it feels like... every building is an island adrift on the sea, unreachable from one another, yet tightly connected through the cobblestone paths filled with streetlights in the campus."

Tian Bufan gave him a surprised glance, then silently nodded, "Every building on campus might exist on an independent layer."

"All buildings are independent but connected to each other, whether as individuals or as a whole, their layer structure is very complex."

"Speaking of which..." Lin Yi curiously looked at him, "Young Master Tian, what time did you guys come to eat yesterday?"

"Around this time," Tian Bufan said, "I tagged along with the queue of Sports Students who had spent the night in the classroom to go eat breakfast in the cafeteria."

"What happened to those eerie Art Students and non-human classmates afterward?"

Tian Bufan said, "Some were taken away by the Sports Students, while others escaped."

"Escape... escaped? Wait, escaping I can somehow understand, but what do you mean by taken away?"

Running away when outmatched isn't shameful, and judging by the non-human classmates' unbelievably sudden speed, if they were determined to run when the lights went out, they could definitely get away, but what does taken away mean?

Captured?

Tian Bufan shook his head, "I don't know, some Sports Students took them away as dawn approached, while the rest went to the cafeteria."

"I couldn't follow them out to see before 7:40."

"Oh... Okay," Lin Yi nodded slightly, "What about you, Wei Sang and Kuai Kuai?"

"Eat when it's time to eat, drink when it's time to drink," Wei Shan spoke sparingly but brimmed with hostility, "If anything dares to come for me, I'll tear it to shreds!"

"Barbaric," Kuai Hongji sneered and shook his head.

Lin Yi stopped Wei Shan, who nearly lost his temper again, and hesitantly said, "Did you encounter the green-aproned chef?"

Wei Shan glanced at Tian Bufan, who was observing the surrounding environment and showed no particular reaction, then said:

"I didn't eat breakfast, but as I was leaving after lunch, a chef wearing a green apron charged at me."

"With your skills, you should have been able to get away, right? Did he chase..."

"I killed it," Wei Shan spoke indifferently, his eyes seemingly swirling with the intent to kill.

Lin Yi's expression suddenly shifted, his original question "did he chase you out of the Student Cafeteria to deal with you" turning into a dud.

He opened his mouth, his mind not wrapping around the concept immediately.

"Isn't... Green hat not supposed to be killed?"

"I don't know if it can be killed," Wei Shan said, "but I feel like I killed it."

Flashes of the dream in which he saw Wei Shan fight back against the non-human classmate surged in Lin Yi's mind.

That full-force kick really seemed as if it could shatter granite...

"Did you get hurt?" he asked with concern.

"I don't know," Wei Shan shook his head, "but it felt very strange... after doing harm to them, it was as though something had clung to me."

"I hate this feeling... They anger me—although I'm always angry, but I have never been so angry... Seeing them, I just want to tear them apart, just like... I want to tear apart that Yin Bi," he said, pointing at Kuai Hongji.

"Heh heh heh, Fatty, don't drag me into your messed-up situations," Kuai Hongji sneered coldly.

But the puzzled Lin Yi on the side thought, "This...?"

Wei Shan's situation seemed completely different from his own...

According to his conjecture, seeing non-human classmates would lead to a layer drop due to cognitive distortion, but Wei Shan appeared not to have gone through such a change.

Why was that?

He didn't understand.

"Could it be that my conjecture is wrong... or is it not rigorous enough? Or does Wei Sang have something special about him?"

He felt a bit dizzy, but since Wei Shan seemed to be without issues, he was reassured for the moment.

"Kuai Kuai, what about you?"

Kuai Hongji shook his head, "I didn't encounter any danger."

Lin Yi narrowed his eyes slightly, then withdrew his gaze.

He looked serious on the outside, but inside he was somewhat struggling to maintain composure; the disparity when his teammates stood beside him couldn't be more obvious.

"So, I'm the only one who went through a near-death experience, huh?"

Setting aside the situation to discuss the encounter even Mao Feiyang, who was deeply trapped in the Art Building, didn't have an outrageous experience like his.

Five minutes later, the group arrived at the notice board in front of the cafeteria.

The cafeteria under the morning light had a glass-like magnificence, and its octagonal cage-like architecture, enveloped in thin mist, surprisingly gave one the sense of a fusion between Tang Dynasty and modern architecture styles.

If one disregarded the exaggerated passages surrounding it, which completely contradicted its architectural style.

After everyone took a copy of the Cafeteria Regulations from beneath the notice board, Lin Yi didn't rush towards the Student Passage but first looked at the other passageways.
