Checking in for 100,000 Years

Chapter 257: Heavenly Treasures Cover Memories from a Hundred Thousand Years Ago

Inside the great hall, the old men from Wu Kun Mountain were trembling all over in fear. They had hidden in the distance and witnessed the whole battle, never imagining that the young man in the black robe was also a powerful cultivator in the Life and Death Realm. With unmatched might, he had smashed Sect Master Gongsun Changsheng from the sky to the ground and then brutally used his shield to crush the Sect Master to death. Recalling this bloody scene, a deep sense of terror surged through the Elders' hearts, as if the apocalypse had arrived, leaving them terribly uneasy.

"What should we do now?" one Elder voiced his concerns, his voice trembling.

"Although the Sect Master is dead, don't forget we still have the Supreme Elder," another Elder said slowly, clenching his fists.

The Elders exchanged glances and suddenly felt a glimmer of hope.

"Good. Let's leave Wu Kun Mountain immediately and return to the Sect using the Teleportation Array. We will then report to the Supreme Elder," an Elder suggested, and led the others out of the great hall.

They quietly left through the backyard and, by means of a Teleportation Array, returned to the Sacred Sect of the Mysterious Bird in the Heavenly Moon Dynasty. The Sect Master was already dead. Even if they used the small Teleportation Array in the great hall, the Jade Slip wouldn't be directly transported to the Supreme Elder. Besides, Wu Kun Mountain had become too dangerous, and they didn't want to stay any longer; it was better to leave sooner rather than later.

A beam of light flashed, and the men vanished.

Ye Yun glanced in the direction of the light, smiled faintly, and thought nothing of it.

"Master, the Sacred Sect of the Mysterious Bird still has a Supreme Elder who is likely on the brink of breaking through to the Second Level of the Life and Death Realm. He is far stronger than Gongsun Changsheng," Mu Qing whispered at his side.

"It doesn't matter. If he dares to come, I'll deal with them all at once," Ye Yun said placidly.

After speaking, he squatted down again, picked up the little gourd he had found earlier, and began to toy with it, clearly captivated.

"How much is this?" Big Black Cat asked from the side.

The memory of the old Nirvana Realm cultivator had been erased, so he had no idea how formidable the people standing before him were. He smiled and replied, "Only one hundred Spirit Stones."

Big Black Cat took out one hundred Spirit Stones and handed them to the old man.

At this, Ye Yun smiled faintly and put the little gourd away.

He didn't put this little gourd into his storage space. After all, the artifacts in his storage space were of far too high quality. If such a small gourd were placed inside, it would probably be shattered instantly by the overwhelming pressure. In Ye Yun's storage space, specifically designated for artifacts, many items had long since developed Spirit Wisdom, each one incredibly terrifying. Some were even world-ending artifacts; if released, countless worlds would be annihilated.

...

Ye Yun continued to stroll leisurely.

The black market on Wu Kun Mountain was vast; strolling at his unhurried pace, he couldn't possibly see everything in a single day. Whenever Ye Yun spotted something amusing or familiar, he would buy it, with Big Black Cat handling the payments.

After walking for a while, Ye Yun spotted a young man in blue robes not far away. He looked to be in his early twenties, with a brawny physique, sharp sword-like eyebrows, and striking star-like eyes. His aura was quite distinguished, and his cultivation base had reached the Fifth Level of the Nirvana Realm.

He had spread a tattered yellow cloth on the ground, upon which lay a treasure resembling a canopy. This canopy-like treasure was rather large, with a diameter of a full meter. Ancient and weathered, it clearly had some age to it. However, upon closer inspection, some parts were visibly damaged.

The young man was squatting on the ground, quietly waiting for someone to purchase his treasure. People bustled by on the street, but no one showed any interest in his dilapidated artifact.

Seeing this canopy, Ye Yun sighed softly, his mind drifting to memories from many years ago. Was this canopy the same one from back then? He decided to go over and take a closer look.

Just as Ye Yun had taken a couple of steps, a middle-aged man suddenly stopped beside the roadside stall.

"What kind of treasure is this?"

The middle-aged man scrutinized the canopy on the ground. After a moment, he still couldn't determine its origin.

Seeing a potential customer at his stall, the young man in blue immediately brightened.

He lifted the ancient canopy-like treasure and said with a smile, "Sir, you have a keen eye! This is an extraordinary artifact. Once you infuse it with Mana, it will float above your head, and rays of light will descend to shield you, making you impervious to any attack."

"Is it truly that powerful? What grade is this canopy now?"

The middle-aged man crossed his arms, showing no intention of taking the canopy to examine it. He frequently visited the black market on Wu Kun Mountain to hunt for treasures and knew it was a place where the good and bad were mixed, with sellers often trying to pass off inferior items as valuable ones. Finding genuine treasures here was incredibly difficult.

Seeing the middle-aged man's astuteness, the blue-robed young man looked a bit awkward and stammered, "This treasure... it used to be Emperor Level. But it's been passed down for too long and was damaged in several great wars, so now its grade has dropped to Earth Level..."

"Earth Level? And you have the nerve to show off something like that?"

The middle-aged man sneered and turned to leave.

"Sigh..."

The blue-robed young man heaved a sigh, his face etched with deep dejection.

If I can't sell this canopy, I won't have enough Spirit Stones to buy a Heavenly Moon Order...

He sighed again, lowered his head, looking utterly dispirited.

Just then, a figure in white silently approached.

"Does this treasure have a name?"

Ye Yun squatted down, picked up the canopy, and examined it carefully.

"Of course, it has a name! After all, it was once an Emperor Level treasure..."

Seeing another potential customer at his stall, the blue-robed young man grew excited again.

He quickly looked up. Before him stood a young man in white. This newcomer was exceptionally handsome, with an extraordinary, almost ethereal temperament, and exuded an indescribable sacred aura.

To think such a man existed in this world!

The blue-robed young man's eyes lit up, clearly captivated by Ye Yun's refined presence.

"Hey, kid! My master is asking for the treasure's name. Are you deaf or just dumb?" Big Black Cat swaggered over, speaking aggressively.

Sensing that this was a great demon of the Destiny Realm, the blue-robed young man was startled.

"Little Cat, speak politely," Ye Yun said, glancing up at Big Black Cat.

Big Black Cat shivered, then managed a forced, awkward smile. Looking at the blue-robed young man, he said, "Little brother, could you quickly tell my master the name of this treasure?"

"This treasure is an heirloom from my family. It's called the Heavenly Treasures Cover," the blue-robed young man said, a note of pride in his voice.

"Heavenly Treasures Cover... a fine name indeed," Ye Yun murmured with a smile, his gaze falling upon the ancient, weathered, and somewhat damaged Heavenly Treasures Cover in his hands. A look of fond remembrance filled his eyes.

Without a doubt, this Heavenly Treasures Cover was at least one hundred thousand years old. It was an artifact providing both offense and defense that he, Ye Yun, had personally gifted to Lei Cheng all those years ago. Back then, this treasure had been Emperor Level Top Grade. But after a hundred thousand years of weathering the storms of time and the ravages of numerous great wars, it was a mere shadow of its former glory. The grade of the Heavenly Treasures Cover... had fallen to Earth Level.

Ye Yun gazed at it, a profound sense of wistful sorrow welling up within him.
