The Special Secret Realm Exploration had reached its conclusion. The Infernal Dimension Arc was turning its final page.
Now, one might be thinking: they landed on Taemia, an Apex World in the Infernal Dimension. Hardly a 'Secret Realm.'
But in truth, Apex World Taemia occupied a unique, secluded pocket within the Infernal Dimension, isolated from the rest. So technically, Jamie wasn't lying—this was indeed a 'Secret Realm.'
As for the cultivators, they were set to return to Denerth Prime by day's end, after receiving their rewards from the spirits for their cooperation.
Originally, the plan was to treat the injured and mourn the fallen today, with a victory celebration and reward distribution scheduled for the 17th.
However, the unexpected arrival of Sect Master Chang, the High Elders, and Jamie altered the timeline.
Jamie confirmed that the remaining devil forces posed no threat, presenting a sealed contract with the Infernal Devil King to prove it.
The Race Kings, including Jamie, then quickly healed thousands of wounded, fully restoring Arthur, Evan, and even those on the brink of death that healers had deemed 'lost causes'.
Those already dead were not revived, not due to a lack of power, but because mass resurrection without proper karmic procedures would attract unwanted attention from the law of causality—a complication the Race Kings preferred to avoid.
Speaking of proper procedures, special preparations to secure their lives after death had been made unbeknownst to the cultivators.
Many of whom were prodigies or heirs of influential sects, so sects couldn't afford to lose them in large numbers.
Each carried a brand forged from the laws of Life and Death, preventing their souls from being claimed by the Underworld.
The Sect Elders, observing the events over the past nine weeks, quietly retrieved the souls, and in some cases, the bodies of the fallen, easily made possible by their alliance with the Absolute Death King, who had a Unique Authority over death.
However, there was one exception.
Anyone killed by a certain pair of teenagers—Arthur and Evan—could not be revived.
The two didn't care, though.
To begin with, they were unaware of the soul-branding protections in place. Even if they had known, they would still use their destructive powers to damage enemies' souls, even if it nullified any chance of revival, as fractured souls couldn't be protected by the brands.
Damaging a soul greatly weakened their enemies, making battles far easier to manage. For Arthur and Evan, the past nine weeks had been full of fights for survival, genuine life-or-death struggles, so they didn't hold back in using their powers.
Consequently, any cultivators they killed had their souls instantly claimed by the law of death and sent to a special section of the reincarnation path reserved for damaged souls.
While the Sect Elders whose disciples fell to the pair were displeased, they had no grounds to protest.
Jamie's presence also acted as a strong deterrent. While he had orchestrated the scheme largely for his own amusement, he wasn't about to allow anyone to threaten Arthur or Evan.
Beyond him, the wrath of the 71 other Demon Kings posed an even greater threat to anyone who dared.
The events of the past nine weeks had been made public on the Interstellar Stage, meaning that now, both Arthur and Evan had become prime targets of interest for numerous Interstellar Powers across the Universe.
The displeased Sect Elders, no matter how frustrated, could do nothing.
Returning to the matter of the spirits, with their physical injuries healed and fatigue dispelled, Sect Master Chang instructed them to begin the reward distribution process.
Contributions were assessed, and rewards allocated accordingly.
Each cultivator had been marked during the event, a mark that tracked both allegiance and combat statistics.
This mark recorded not only who fought on which side but also who defeated the strongest devils and the number they had slain, ensuring that rewards would accurately reflect each cultivator's efforts in the battle.
Evan didn't care for this, though. He simply told Charisse to prepare his promised rewards separately and went off on his own, focusing on readjusting his strategies regarding the Wolf of the END on future Aidos.
Encountering a Beast of the END, who just happened to also be a wolf, gave Evan a fresh perspective on the matter.
Previously, he had only known of the wolf through a screen, but meeting one in reality and directly sensing its power revealed aspects he had been blind to before, leading him to have to rework his plans.
Once he finished, he rejoined Jamie, Arthur, and the rest of the group, arriving just as Jamie finished scolding Arthur for his recklessness against Vonun.
"So, what's your actual level now?" Beatrix asked, prompting Evan and Arthur to check Arthur's status.
The appraisal results he saw made Evan sigh.
"That's weird? Wasn't I supposed to be Intermediate...?" muttered Arthur, the newly minted Superior Stage Transcendent.
"Dude, take a look at your stat levels and tell me what's 'Intermediate' about that," Evan said, as another diaphanous board appeared before Arthur, displaying his ridiculous stat levels.
Health– X3+→½♾ (50/100)
Energy- X3+ (99/100)
Strength– X3+ (65/100)
Agility– X3+ (57/100)
Durability–X3+ (55/100)
Intelligence- X3+ (49/100)
For context, Arthur's base stats had all previously been 'X (1/100)', meaning each of his stats had risen by at least 148 Stat Levels.
"Exponential power increase, indeed," Arthur remarked, nodding as he got to his feet and stretched before turning to Evan.
"What about you? How are your stats?" he asked.
Evan simply snapped his fingers, and the figures on the board in front of Arthur shifted to display the stats of someone far into the Intermediate Stage of Sovereignty.
Health– X2 (49/100)
Energy– X2+ (57/100)
Strength– X2+ (58/100)
Agility– X2 (47/100)
Durability– X2 (44/100)
Intelligence- X2 (44/100)
Hmm? Evan was only an Inferior Sovereign at level 815? Since when did Singularities follow common sense?
They never had, and they weren't about to start now.
Just as Evan was about to speak, he and everyone else suddenly felt a distortion in the fabric of space.
The space swirled until it ruptured, forming a spatial gate. From within the gate poured an oppressive aura, suffocating the mortals in the vicinity.
All the Sect Elders frowned, Arthur raised a shield of Cosmic Energy, and Jamie's brow twitched as he turned toward the gate and spoke.
|Faulin, control yourself. There are mortals here. |
'Faulin!?'
Jamie's True Voice forced the oppressive aura back into the spatial gate, and moments later, two figures stepped through.
Evan's eyes snapped to them, widening in shock and recognition. Arthur frowned slightly, while Sect Master Chang quickly moved from his previous position.
The first to emerge from the gate was a man clad in long, regal robes. He had emerald green eyes and long silver-green hair flowing over his shoulders.
Beside him stood a lean, well-built man with short silver-green hair and light green eyes, a golden sun-shaped earring dangling from his left ear. He wore casual clothes, a jacket slung over his shoulder.
As soon as they appeared, a pair of notifications manifested in the vision of everyone present.
[The 'Heavenly Celestial King' gazes in your direction]
[The 'Sun Celestial Lord' gazes in your direction]
Celestials, a race directly opposed to the Devil Race.
That was the reason for Arthur's frown. The Infernal Dimension was the home ground of the Infernal Devils.
From the expressions on Jamie's and Sect Master Chang's faces, it was clear their arrival had not been anticipated.
Only Evan understood the most probable reason for their presence.
'Glazard…'
The future 'Verglas Celestial Lord,' the one who would ultimately stop Evan from landing the final blow to prevent the Fallen Celestial Deity Faulin from surpassing Transcendence.
|Westley! Why did you ta-|
"For Pete's sake, please speak normally, Faulin. We're doing something here, and we don't exactly want all the mortals here to pass out because of you."
Jamie cut off the Celestial King, clicking his tongue in annoyance as he used magic to awaken those who had lost consciousness from the oppressive force of a High-Tier Deity's True Voice.
Naturally, he ensured the teenagers near him remained unaffected.
Once that was done, Jamie turned back to Faulin, brow raised.
"So? Why'd you come barging over here?"
"Would I be here if you didn't bring my disciple here first?!"
"Disciple?"
Jamie's brows remained raised as he glanced at Sect Master Chang, who shook his head to indicate he had no idea who Faulin's 'disciple' was.
Evan, on the other hand, silently turned towards Glazard, an action that did not go unnoticed by those nearby. Instantly, the pieces clicked into place in both Jamie's and Arthur's minds.
Knowing why Evan had been sent back in time, and with Jamie having already heard from Arthur about Evan's reaction to Glazard and his confirmation of Glazard's role in his involuntary journey through time, the moment Evan glanced toward Glazard as Faulin mentioned his disciple, immediately made things click for them.
Faulin noticed Evan's action as well, but he didn't care. Only Conroe paid attention, curious why Evan had instinctively looked at Glazard.
'Were they close or something?' he wondered.
A moment later, he dismissed the thought.
'No…doesn't seem like it.'
Conroe knew of Evan due to the Rogue Hero's connection with Arthur, whom the Demon Kings of Gozon had been publicly supporting, but he remained just as clueless about Evan's origins as everyone else.
'Something about him rubs me the wrong way…' he mused, briefly considering probing Evan, but Jamie's presence stopped him just as the thought formed.
Meanwhile, Faulin had already used telekinesis to bring Glazard over. Glazard had originally been sent to a sect specialising in Ice techniques for training, but since that sect was also involved in the 'Secret Realm Exploration' scheme, he ended up here as well.
Faulin glared at the Elder of the Sect, and the man's expression stiffened slightly. He had certainly not anticipated Faulin arriving in person, much less bringing his son along.
Conroe was a 'Celestial Lord' and was also a High-Tier Deity. Take away Faulin's rank as 'Celestial King,' and the two were essentially equals in power.
But more importantly…
'If he came here with Conroe, then the Infernal Devils might take it as an act of-!'
The Sect Elder's thoughts stopped abruptly, because what he had feared was already happening.
The sky above split apart, and an aura even more oppressive than Faulin's poured out.
|Seriously!? What is wrong with you people?!|Jamie shouted in annoyance.
He had just told one Race King to tone it down, and now another was doing the same.
In response to his outburst, a streak of light shot down from the sky, crashing onto the ground as the aura receded.
|My bad, Westley. But you see, while I'm fine with you hosting your little game in my Dimension, I don't recall permitting certain green rats to enter here…|
Emerging from the dust was a man who resembled a classic humanoid devil. He stood ten feet tall, with twisted horns, five pairs of bat-like reverse wings, and two spiked tails trailing behind him.
His long, pitch-black hair framed a menacing face streaked with red on the left side, and his eyes reflected the same dark void.
He was the 'Supreme' Infernal Devil King, wielder of the 'Absolute Death Authority', Miacav. Even for Arthur and Evan, who had never met him before, his overwhelming aura of 'Death' made his identity unmistakable.
Jamie sighed, facepalming at the antics of the two Race Kings. Waving his hand, he sectioned off the space they occupied, preventing their passive auras from leaking out and knocking out the other non-Transcendent cultivators once more.
The Infernal Devil King was about to lash at Faulin when he abruptly froze, sniffed the air, and then turned toward Arthur, tilting his head as he spoke.
"…you smell like a Leviathan. Why?"
"Because I'm the son of one," Arthur replied with a casual shrug, wondering if Devil Races had some innate trait that let them identify other Devil breeds by scent.
Hearing this, Miacav narrowed his eyes before turning to Jamie. "He's the new Progenitor kid who made a mess on Toverus, right? Didn't they say he was Lucifer's Descendant? Wasn't Lucifer a Pureblood?"
Evan's eyes widened in surprise at Miacav's question, snapping toward Arthur. "Wait! You're Lucifer's Descendant?!"
