Shen Wang observed quietly as both parties exchanged a few words before fiercely engaging in battle.
Despite the crowd on the ground, they were no match for the enemies in the Demon Cloud. Shen Wang sensed that the ones in the Demon Cloud were at the Golden Core Zhenren level, whereas most on the ground were only at the Qi Cultivation Level, with the strongest being at Foundation Establishment.
This disparity in strength doomed the people on the ground to be swiftly slaughtered by chains, leaving the remaining ones in a panic, though they still huddled together and didn't scatter in escape.
Shen Wang, observing in secret, detected something unusual and focused his attention on a certain demon. This person appeared unremarkable, but he faintly sensed a mystical power.
"They are specifically protecting this person."
Shen Wang mused, "The ones in the Demon Cloud probably came for this person as well. I just can't understand the language to know the exact reason why."
He pondered, choosing not to meddle, deciding to wait for the outcome first.
Realizing they couldn't hold off the enemies, the remaining people began to retreat, escaping in scattered directions.
The cultivators in the Demon Cloud couldn't pursue all at once, so they only chased a portion, allowing their true target to successfully escape amidst the chaos.
After the Demon Cloud left, Shen Wang appeared next to an individual who still had a breath left.
"Save me."
The latter murmured.
Shen Wang's gaze was cold as he pressed his hand on the person's head to use the Soul-Searching Secret Technique.
Shen Wang's power far surpassed this person's, who couldn't resist at all. He forcibly inserted his thoughts into the man's mind, searching for the information he wanted.
The latter screamed in agony and soon died. Before the dissipation of this person's divine soul, Shen Wang managed to extract some useful information.
For instance, this world is called the Celestial Slaughter Realm, housing dozens of continents and myriad races that practice the Demonic Dao. He encountered two of the more formidable races here, the Rakshasa Race and the Youluo Race.
The Rakshasa Race consists of non-human beings, and the Youluo Race resembles the Human Race. The former is stronger, considered one of the top races in the Celestial Slaughter Realm.
"Based on the memory fragments from this person, this world is much stronger than my home world."
Shen Wang's expression was grave. The stronger this world, the greater the threat to his homeland if the passage opens.
"Luckily, I have a rudimentary grasp of the language. Next, I need to find a way back. But I fear that returning will be difficult, as this passage will surely draw the attention of many powerful beings, even possibly inciting cross-realm invasions."
Shen Wang pondered deeply, discarding the corpse to the side, then looked towards one of the escaping groups and followed them like a gust of wind.
From the memories of the soul he searched, the person they were protecting seemed crucial to their mission, making communication with this individual ideal, as they were of the Human Race too.
Without using any magic, relying solely on ordinary Martial Arts Body Technique, Shen Wang maneuvered at great speed, catching up with the escapees swiftly.
The group ran into a barren mountain, hiding in the forest to catch their breath.
Shen Wang, lacking a valid reason to approach, hid nearby to eavesdrop.
"Miss, those Rakshasas will likely pursue us here. We must continue to separate, ensuring the treasure doesn't fall into their hands."
"Where are our reinforcements?"
"It's possible they got intercepted. Right now, we can only rely on ourselves. Black Stone City isn't far from here, Miss. You must make it there; once you're there, they wouldn't dare act recklessly."
"Is it worth sacrificing so many of our kind for this thing?"
"Alas, we have no choice now, Miss. Rest a while, and we will split up."
Hearing their conversation, Shen Wang waited silently.
The miss they referred to seemed ordinary, disguised as a man, clearly to conceal her identity.
He planned to continue following after she left, whether to interact with her or head to the mentioned Black Stone City.
Secretly, Shen Wang sensed the demons recovering their strength, contemplating whether to cultivate using this realm's techniques. Otherwise, utilizing his original mana might attract too much attention.
"I should probably open up some acupoints to cultivate the techniques of this realm. Although, I'm unsure if my body can absorb demonic qi."
Contemplating his next move, it wasn't long before they split up again.
Soon after they left, a mass of dark clouds pursued them, followed closely by another; there was more than one Rakshasa chasing.
"Cunning insects, do you really think you can escape?"
Pausing briefly, the demons seemed aware of the direction of the escapees and pursued separately.
Youli kept close to the ground, using flora to cover her tracks as she moved swiftly forward.
Seeing yet another plain ahead, Youli hesitated.
She glanced at the sky cautiously, gritted her teeth, and moved forward, keeping low to the ground.
She used a special body technique, her figure ghostlike and difficult to spot from afar.
Shen Wang showed up behind, following for a while, noticing the Rakshasa had caught up. After considering for a moment, he accelerated to overtake her.
Moments later.
"Almost there, reaching Black Stone City will be safe!"
Youli thought to herself.
While reassuring herself, an abrupt voice appeared behind her.
"Hehe, found another one. I don't believe I can't find that thing by slaughtering all of you."
A dark silhouette materialized behind her, enveloped in swirling dark qi, grotesque, resembling a vicious ghost.
At this moment, it locked its cruel gaze onto Youli.
Youli, in her frantic escape, shuddered as her face turned white with despair in her eyes.
She was caught up to after all.
At only a Middle Rank, she was no match for this Upper-Rank Rakshasa, facing certain death.
"Even in death, I'll fight back!"
She gritted her teeth, turned around, and fired a blue sword light at the Rakshasa.
"Still resisting in vain?"
This Rakshasa was not the one previously enshrouded in black mist. It wielded a scythe, swinging it casually.
Clang!
The sword light quivered, then was struck away, embedding into the ground and shattering nearby foliage with its impact.
Youli, as if attacked, trembled violently, her face flushed instantly, spitting a mouthful of blood.
She was rebounded by her life weapon, utterly no match for the Rakshasa.
A gleaming light descended from the sky, slicing Youli's body in two, leaving a smooth cut that rapidly transformed into a puddle of water.
It was a substitute.
Youli, unwilling to die, used a decoy to take the attack and continued fleeing without pausing.
"It's just a little more struggle; your actions will only bring me more enjoyment in slaughter."
The Rakshasa sneered and dashed after her, but simultaneously, he noticed a figure ahead.
The attire didn't match Youluo people, nor was there any sign of power; assumedly, it was a Lower-Rank Demon nearby.
Seeing the target escape in this person's direction, he paid no heed, swinging the scythe to kill and silence any witness, leaving no evidence of their actions.
"Indeed, they attacked me!"
Shen Wang sensed the strike, smirking coldly. He had deliberately placed himself in the escapee's path, awaiting such an attack to provide a legitimate reason to act.
