Don't Mess with That Dragon

Chapter 94: Defeat

The sudden downpour of arrows caught the Jackal Wolfman Tribe off guard, and under the deadly rain, the Beastmen panicked, scattering in all directions.

"Don't panic, hide behind the trees!"

The Dark Elf spun into the air, turning the longbow, deflecting an arrow that shot towards him, and swiftly darted like an agile rabbit behind a nearby large tree.

Although the sudden attack shattered the morale of the Beastmen of the Jackal Wolfman Tribe, there were many elite fighters among them. Perhaps accustomed to such wars, the death of their comrades did not cause them to lose their minds, and they quickly sought cover.

However, just when the Beastmen were scattered everywhere, the rain of arrows suddenly ceased.

Simultaneously,

"Charge! Attack!"

From within the jungle, a minotaur army numbering over a hundred suddenly charged out, each holding a long spear and wooden shield, forming a neat formation as they advanced.

The Jackal Wolfman Tribe, who had not been alert, finally paid the price for their negligence.

At that moment, the Beastmen of the Jackal Wolfman Tribe, still shaken by the arrow attack, were standing scattered everywhere. Some had even dropped their wooden spears to the ground, and with the sudden charge of the Minotaur army, the Beastmen hadn't had time to react before the Minotaurs were upon them.

Were it any other tribe, first being demoralized by the arrow rain, then facing the torrent-like charge of the Minotaur army, they would have likely been in full collapse by now.

But the Jackal Wolfman Tribe was clearly not an ordinary tribe, and the Beastmen in this expedition were not ordinary either.

Several fierce Grey Bear warriors immediately charged toward the Minotaur army, wielding metal weapons, with the seasoned veterans of the Jackal Wolfman Tribe following closely behind, forming groups and rushing to the front.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh!

"Crush them under Lord Kam's mighty hammer!"

A brawny Grey Bear warrior swung a colossal iron hammer with a whirring wind, accompanied by furious roars, the hammer, with the weight of a thousand pounds, crashed towards the charging Minotaur army.

Thud thud thud!

The iron hammer smashed into the wooden shields raised by the Minotaurs, a series of muffled thuds resounded, as the shields splintered, and those Minotaurs behind were sent reeling by the tremendous force, their arms broken, bodies almost launched into the air, causing a depression in the previously straight Minotaur battle line.

Just one swing of the hammer severely injured multiple Minotaurs, rendering them combat ineffective. If not for the collective bearing of the shields, one or two Minotaurs might have been killed on the spot.

Yet, the Grey Bear warrior's ferocity only extended so far. After swinging with full force, he fell into a state of exertion, with neither new strength nor agility left.

Simultaneously, long spears pierced through the air, driving towards his massive body.

Thwack thwack thwack...

The sharp long spears penetrated thick fur and embedded into flesh, with crimson blood splattering forth, and searing pain surged like a tidal wave, overwhelming the Grey Bear warrior's senses in a berserk frenzy.

"Roar!!!"

With a furious roar, the Grey Bear warrior swept the heavy iron hammer wildly, splintering the spears stuck in his body in midair.

Without giving him time to retaliate further, more spears shot forth like venomous snakes, quickly penetrating his body, the array of long spears lifting his huge form into the air.

This skirmish lasted only moments, and the elite leader among the Beastmen was overwhelmed by the Minotaur charge, either injured or dead, while the rest had no chance to resist.

The thrusting spears were shielded away, and under the terrifying group assault, one Beastman after another was flung away, almost leading to a complete rout.

Side by side with those on the front lines being scattered in combat, the rest, who hesitated to join, lost heart and fled into the forests.

Jackal Wolfman Tribe Beastmen were fleeing everywhere, while only a small number remained, resisting in futility against the Minotaur charge.

The abrupt arrow attack to the shield and spear corps breaking their lines took less than a minute, yet left the Dark Elves agonized by the chaos.

"Don't run! Damn it! Get back to fighting the enemy!"

The Dark General grabbed a retreating Beastman, tossing him back into the fray.

Yet intercepting only one or two made little difference, as continued attacks completely shattered morale across the Jackal Wolfman Tribe.

In war, sustaining morale is crucial, as it was for Austin in ancient times, much like the Beastmen battles in this world's primeval forests.

Ignoring the Dark Elf's commands, the Beastmen scattered in the chaos,

And then,

"For His Highness Austin!"

Loud shouts echoed from left and right, as two new forces emerged from the underbrush, advancing upon the scattered Jackal Wolfman Tribe Beastmen.

"Damn it!"

Seeing their ranks split and enemies swarming in, the Dark Elf no longer intended to remain and fight, immediately turning to flee.

As for Simon Hogg and others trapped at the center, they were left to their fate.

But only after a few steps, a sudden magic burst rose below him.

"What?!!!"

The Dark Elf was alarmed but responded swiftly, rolling to avoid the spot he stood upon.

Meanwhile, massive black vines burst from the ground, intertwining at a rapid pace.

"Damn!"

The fleeing Dark Elf cursed as he glimpsed the ensnaring vines, narrowly escaping capture.

Next moment, as he darted up, leaping nimbly in mid-air, he deftly drew an arrow, targeting below.

Locating the target, he drew, aimed, releasing in one fluid motion.

Mid-air he was, already aiming at the fox-faced Quik who had triggered the Vine Technique.

At that moment, Quik had just finished casting the vine spell from a magical ring, standing exposed. The drawn bow was zeroed in on him from above.
