Don't Mess with That Dragon

Chapter 143 Preliminary Hardening

According to the principles of the Navy Six Techniques, the difficulty of the Six Forms Body Techniques varies. Since modification is necessary, it's natural to start from the simplest part.

Shave and Moon Step belong to the same category, relying on the explosive power of the legs to gain tremendous propulsion. As for Moon Step, if it requires kicking the air to gain sufficient upward reactive force, scientifically speaking, the speed of the foot's kick needs to at least surpass the speed of sound. This is because, according to scientific theory, when an object's moving speed approaches the speed of sound, it encounters a very strong resistance termed as the sound barrier.

Only the reactive force generated by the sound barrier makes it possible to rely on kicking the air to gain power for direction change or floating in Moon Step. The requirement for kicking speed is truly immense for this, and the same goes for Shave, which involves kicking the ground multiple times in an instant to rapidly move through accumulated reactive force. Not to mention whether this stacking of forces is even feasible, even if it were possible, the requirement for foot kicking speed is extremely high. With the current strength of the Beastmen, there's still quite a gap.

Moreover, even with Fighting Qi modification, Shave and Moon Step in these six forms are rather complicated, and Austin is not considering them for the time being.

Of the remaining four techniques, without Shave for rapidly closing in, the Finger Gun technique, although it has some impact, doesn't greatly enhance the current Extraordinary Beastmen. Moreover, mastering Finger Gun requires solving the problem of finger hardening; otherwise, swift stabbing will only result in breaking one's own fingers.

As for Paper Drawing, which is akin to sensing airflow to evade in advance, given the coarse and impulsive nature of the Beastmen, Austin doesn't think they could learn it quickly.

Therefore, Austin decided that the first modifications would be the Iron Block and Gale Foot of the Six Forms.

Regarding Iron Block, Austin remembers similar Hard Qi Skill martial arts from his previous life which, although unable to stop bullets, could resist fist and foot attacks at high levels. In a modern society without Extraordinary Power, they could achieve such a degree, so with Fighting Qi, it might be possible to recreate martial arts akin to the Golden Bell Shield found in novels.

Moreover, regarding the Hard Qi Skill, Austin knows a thing or two. It's said to be developed through continuous striking and training, so that the muscles attain an iron-like state. Adding Fighting Qi, this Fighting Qi version of Iron Block is very likely to be realized and is one of the easiest body techniques to implement within the Navy Six Techniques.

As for Gale Foot, mercenaries already possess combat techniques like Earth Splitting Slash and Wind-breaking Slash. They have some foundation in the application of Fighting Qi, but they cannot perform long-range attacks.

If Fighting Qi is used in conjunction with the principles of Gale Foot, there's a high chance to recreate such combat techniques in this world.

Of course, according to the principles of the Navy Six Techniques, Gale Foot also has very high requirements for kicking speed, but Gale Foot can be used with weapons to create a Slashing Wave. Before the physical capabilities of the Extraordinary Beastmen reach the limits required for Shave and Moon Step, Austin plans to directly adapt it into a weapon-slashing combat technique. When the Beastmen's kicking speed catches up, they could then base further development on true Gale Foot.

"There are twenty people left, just enough to form two groups. One group will use clubs for body striking while developing the technique to enhance muscles with Fighting Qi, thereby developing Iron Block. The other group will first practice, stimulating Fighting Qi on weapons for hacking, then attempt combination with Fighting Qi, using Gale Foot's concept to see if they can unleash Slashing Waves."

After pondering for half a day, Austin had already decided on the development direction of the Six Techniques.

Having made the decision, Austin did not delay, and directly divided the Extraordinary Beastmen into two groups based on their actual conditions.

Those with robust physiques and muscular builds were placed in the Iron Block experimental group, while those with developed arm muscles and swift, strong arm movements were assigned to the Gale Foot Slashing Wave experimental group.

The two groups quickly entered the experimental state without much delay.

Thanks to the previously hellish training, these Extraordinary Beastmen had already built a solid foundation, so training directly progressed.

In the Iron Block experimental group, the Beastmen had to practice daily by striking their bodies with clubs. As their muscles tensed and hardened, enhancing their defenses, they also adapted their skin muscles to external environmental changes while attempting to activate their internal Fighting Qi, channeling it into their muscles, and using external forces to stimulate the continuous fusion and coordination of Fighting Qi and muscles.

On the first day, the Beastmen in the Iron Block experimental group wailed incessantly, their entire bodies covered in bruises, looking very battered. Fortunately, the Beastman Witch Doctors had established a good treatment system and had decent experience with the bruises from club strikes. After applying herbal compresses and blood circulation massages, plus the life force of the Extraordinary Beastmen, they had mostly recovered by the following day.

The training intensity remained the same on the second day without increase, and the Beastmen again appeared bruised and battered. However, their injuries were slightly better than the previous day. Under external stimuli, as the Extraordinary Beastmen tightened their skin muscles, strands of Fighting Qi began instinctively converging towards the muscles and skin, improving some defense.

Day three, day four... with each passing day, the Beastmen's situation improved. During this period, Austin did not have them work in isolation but had them share their insights with each other every night, facilitating discussions. Austin would then summarize and refine, constantly enhancing, to determine the best way to utilize Fighting Qi, and so forth.

This method of alternately refining and experimenting continued until the tenth day. In the Dragon Nest Tribe, ordinary Beastmen striking these hardened Extraordinary Beastmen with clubs couldn't inflict any damage. Even blunt wooden spears failed to pierce their skin.

Previously, even Extraordinary Beastmen would inevitably flee embarrassingly when confronted by the combined forces of an ordinary Beastmen army.

But now, the Extraordinary Beastmen who underwent the Iron Block training could stand in the field with their hardened abilities, and several dozen ordinary Beastmen wielding wooden clubs couldn't inflict any damage—this was simply incredible!

Of course, this does not mean the Iron Block experiment was successful. In fact, the Iron Block experiment was still in a very preliminary stage, just achieving basic hardening rather than being called Iron Block. In combat, it remains somewhat of a superfluous addition, still requiring further effort and improvement.
