Don't Mess with That Dragon

Chapter 103: Raid

Beastman slaves are not uncommon in the Kawa Great Forest. Whenever a tribe defeats and crushes an enemy tribe, they capture many prisoners.

Generally, these prisoners are either killed outright to save the tribe's scarce food, or they are used as slaves, working themselves to death for their captors' tribe.

Gary is one such Beastman slave, and the life of a Beastman slave typically doesn't last more than a year.

Severely lacking food and excessive labor have drained every bit of strength from Gary, so much that he could no longer feel the whip striking his body.

"Am I going to die..."

The strength quickly drains from his body, and Gary feels as if his body has become like wood. Ever since being captured by this tribe and forced to build various structures, he has noticed that once a Beastman falls on the work site, they never stand up again.

In a way, this is good. It's too exhausting; he just wants a good sleep, never to work so hard again...

His vision becomes blurry, and Gary's consciousness slowly sinks into darkness.

"Damn, another one died!"

After several lashes with no response from the Kobold on the ground, the ratman overseer curses and retracts his whip.

"You two, come over here, throw him to Lord Grom's mount as fodder."

This tribe also keeps a ferocious carnivorous beast, tamed by the Gray Bearman Beastman Grom as his daily mount, which consumes a large amount of meat daily, including the captives who can't hold on and die on the construction site.

Two emaciated Beastman slaves come over, dragging Gary out of the pit and walking towards the tribe.

The Kobold Gary still has a faint trace of consciousness, but he no longer has the strength to resist, only able to watch helplessly as he steps closer to the abyss.

"Beast God above, your humble servant Gary prays to you..."

Mustering the last shred of his consciousness, knowing his fate, Gary prays in his heart, as the elders in the tribe have said that every Beastman returns to the embrace of the Beast God after death, to live a life free of hunger and war.

"What are you looking at, get to work quickly, or you'll have no food today."

Casually determining the fate of a trivial life, the ratman overseer yells at the nearby Beastman slaves, cracking a whip at the one standing closest.

The emaciated Beastman slaves dare not speak, slowly dispersing.

Though yet another companion dies before their eyes, the Beastman soldiers of this tribe are not to be trifled with. There have been slave revolts in the past, but the captives here are mostly from small, scattered tribes captured by the "Jackal Wolfman Tribe," and any elite Beastman Transcendent from the "Jackal Wolfman Tribe" can easily crush them single-handedly.

"Damn it, what a bastard, one day he'll get what's coming to him."

An ill-tempered Beastman captive curses under his breath.

Perhaps the Beastman's cursing caught the attention of some ethereal Divine being, or perhaps it was something else, for before his voice faded.

Whoosh!!!

A massive shadow suddenly crashes from the sky, bringing with it a chilling gale. The arrogant ratman overseer has no time to react before he hears a splat, being smashed into pulp.

The surroundings fall into silence.

Staring blankly at the soft ground, at the gigantic stone embedded and stained with gore.

What is this?

"Enemy attack!!!"

The first boulder falls from the sky, followed by a second, a third... densely packed boulders plummet from the sky like meteors, crashing into various parts of the tribe, toppling buildings. The falling stones roll with terrifying force, killing and injuring those they contact.

Slaves on the construction site flee in panic, and the Beastmen within the tribe are terrified, faced with what seems like divine punishment.

"Gather, quickly gather! There's an enemy!"

After all, it's a branch of a Great Tribe, and elite fighters are present within. Under their hasty rallying, the Beastman army begins assembling within the tribe.

However, at this moment, through the dense forest, squads of troops charge from the woods outside, shouts shaking the heavens, sweeping in like a tsunami.

The Blood Claw Tribe Branch, still in chaos from the earlier stone rain, has its elite Beastmen only just starting to regroup the scattered comrades. The tribe's outer walls are sparsely manned by scattered patrol guards, who are quickly overwhelmed by the advancing army.

Bang bang bang!!!

The formidable strength strikes the outer walls of the "Jackal Wolfman Tribe." The wooden walls soon collapse under the assault of the Dragon's Nest army.

"Kill! Kill them!"

"For His Highness Austin!"

The black, orderly army surges through the breached walls into the "Jackal Wolfman Tribe" with overwhelming momentum, the defending Beastmen unable to resist and are scattered, fleeing in all directions.

The outer "Jackal Wolfman Tribe" Beastmen can't withstand the fierce assault from the Dragon Nest Tribe. Beastmen emerging from the buildings are easily scattered, the outer defenses shattered by the Dragon Nest Tribe as if cutting through soft wood.

Victory seems in sight.

But this easy advance doesn't last long; with the hindrance of the outer Beastmen, the inner elite Beastmen finally gather enough troops and charge forward.

"Attack! For the glory of the Blood Claw! Deliver a painful blow to the vile enemy!"

The outer forces scattered, but the "Jackal Wolfman Tribe" has no shortage of brave elite Beastmen, brandishing massive weapons and shouting as they rush at the Dragon's Nest formation.

These elite Beastmen are mostly Bronze Level Transcendents, leading fierce and strong troops of Beastman soldiers.

With elite Beastman Transcendents at the fore, the "Jackal Wolfman Tribe" finally mounts a makeshift resistance.

Boom!!!

As the two armies clash, blood sprays into the air. Despite the "Jackal Wolfman Tribe" being caught off guard, then having their defenses breached by the Dragon Nest Tribe's unstoppable advance, leaving their counterattack chaotic, the elite forces of the "Jackal Wolfman Tribe" manage to fill the gap, struggling hard in the face of Dragon Nest Tribe's coordinated formations.

Though the Dark Dragon Guard and Dragon Vein Attendants serve as vanguards, along with the well-coordinated Beastman army behind them, both sides are locked in a grueling battle, blood and limbs flying, the battlefield heavy with the stench of blood.
