I Am Your Natural Enemy

Chapter 164: The Method of Pinching The Underground Path (5k)_2

He packed his things, took out a gift box, and placed the Tiger Bone inside. In the end, he decided to bring along the sword hilt Cai Qidong had given him.

Cai Qidong claimed he had bought the item outside of Divine Land. The process was probably similar to how he acquired things from Old Meng, Wen Yan figured. No, Cai Qidong was likely not that gentle. He might have beaten someone half to death, then grabbed their hand, forced a Hand Print onto the trade contract, tossed down a coin, and considered it a purchase.

Wen Yan had initially planned to ask Old Meng to appraise it, but in his rush to make Old Meng scram, he'd forgotten all about it. I might as well go ask Lord Zhu for an appraisal.

He took out his phone and scrolled through flight options. They weren't expensive, just a hassle. He had to first go to Yu State, then fly to Guanzhong County, and transfer from there.

He thought it over and checked the time. This should be when the Nether Souls are most active. He scrolled through his contacts, found Grave Walker, and sent a message.

"Pal, are you free today?"

He waited less than ten seconds before a video call came in.

"Hey, Brother Wen, are you coming to Guanzhong County? Hold on, I'll come pick you up right away." The little ghost on the screen, holding his phone in one hand and a hoe in the other, grinned as he walked out of a building.

"Will it be too much trouble?"

"No trouble at all, why would it be? This is the least I can do. If Brother Wen can make use of me, that means you think highly of me. Just send me your location, and I'll get there even faster."

"Ha, I'm mainly quite curious about this mode of transportation. I've never experienced it and wanted to try it out," Wen Yan said honestly. He was extremely curious, but when there was no real need, he felt too embarrassed to ask.

Now that I'm going to congratulate Lord Zhu on his longevity, it's a perfectly valid reason to make use of Lord Zhu's underlings.

"Brother Wen, just wait. I'll be there soon."

Wen Yan left the villa complex and headed north. Not far from there, he entered an undeveloped area of Virtue City. Finding an Ownerless Desolate Tomb here would be very easy. A few days earlier, Wen Yan had idly taken note and spotted several.

He located one such Ownerless Desolate Tomb, sent its location, and then waited quietly.

On the other end, the little ghost shouldered his hoe and left the courtyard. Not far away, he saw a large expanse of graves. He chose one, swung his hoe, and began to dig.

Soon, the grave mound cracked open by itself, revealing a passage leading downward. Hoisting the hoe, he entered and followed the direction from Wen Yan's coordinates through a dark, narrow path.

However, he hadn't gone far before the cramped path began to widen, eventually turning into a dirt road. He followed the dirt road, and in no time, it connected to a larger road.

On the main road, countless unaware Nether Souls were numbly advancing. The little ghost, still carrying the hoe, hesitated to set foot on it. After carefully reconfirming his direction and ensuring it was correct, he cautiously stepped onto the main thoroughfare.

He didn't look back; instead, he followed his senses, joined the large group, and pressed onward. Here, the perception of time was greatly dulled. He had no idea how long he had been walking when, finally following his intuition, he found a side path. This path led upwards, and soon he discovered a flight of stairs.

At the top of the staircase, he found himself inside a house. As he walked up the last few steps, five odd-looking Ghosts crowded around him curiously.

"Old Zhao, come take a look."

"He's actually carrying a hoe?"

"Is he a farmer?"

"Stupid, that's a companion treasure!"

"Whoa, he must be someone extraordinary!"

The Grave Walker, carrying his hoe, was completely bewildered. It was his first time directly opening a passage into another Ghost's house.

"Sorry, sorry, just passing through..."

He quickly ran out with his hoe. Once outside, he realized he was in a villa complex, which confused him even more. Hurriedly, he took out his phone and called Wen Yan.

"Hey, Brother Wen, it seems there's been a little problem. I didn't get to your location; I ended up coming out of someone else's home."

Wen Yan was silent for a moment, then glanced toward the villa complex. Old Zhao's Family, was his first thought.

"Did you meet five weird-looking Ghosts?"

"Eh, Brother Wen, you know these people?"

"Yeah, I'll be right there..."

Wen Yan hung up and gazed at the Ownerless Desolate Tomb in front of him, sighing. He had specifically checked beforehand to confirm that it was an Ownerless Desolate Tomb from long ago, without even a headstone. Conservatively, it hadn't been worshipped for decades, and there was likely nothing left inside. To think it still wasn't used.

There's a significant problem with Old Zhao's house; it could even forcefully redirect the Grave Walker's positioning.

When he returned to the villa complex, he saw the Grave Walker squatting by the roadside outside Old Zhao's house, hoe in hand. Upon seeing Wen Yan, the Grave Walker let out a silent sigh of relief. He had originally wanted to leave, but he inexplicably sensed that this place was somewhat dangerous, so he hadn't dared to move recklessly.

Wen Yan lifted his eyes to Old Zhao's house, where the five misshapen brothers were huddled by the window, peering outside.

"Can you take me with you?" Wen Yan asked. He knew there was a path beneath Old Zhao's house, but he wasn't entirely sure if *he* could use it.

"It should be fine, I think. It's just that the Yin Qi is a bit heavy down there. I was always clear about the direction when I came over," the Grave Walker said, sounding a little unsure. He hesitated for a moment, then honestly added something more.
