I Am Your Natural Enemy

Chapter 111: Ignorance and Bitter Cold Tea (5k)

After leaving the private club, Wu Tingsheng had the driver take him away from Yu State.

He did not refuse the item given by Liu Qiying. As long as it was even slightly beneficial to his son, he did not mind who the giver was.

He was also able to calmly assess the pros and cons, discerning the best course of action for himself.

Liu Qiying, the woman, was sincere in her demeanor and spoke straightforwardly, with no apparent concealment—a good match for the stereotype the rumors painted.

But Wu Tingsheng, harboring similar expectations and feelings, knew all too well that this woman, when crazed, could be much more extreme than any man.

After much consideration, Wu Tingsheng still felt that there was no need to rush for now. His first priority was to get his son back on his feet as soon as possible.

Unlike Liu Qiying, his son was getting better, visibly so; his whole aura had regained a touch of youthful vivaciousness.

There was no need to confront Liu Qiying directly. It was best to take advantage of any benefits first. As for how to use them or what to do, he did not know.

Because, in fact, he did not trust her.

He judged that whatever Liu Qiying was saying now was probably true, but he still didn't trust her.

The hard drive, since he'd gotten it, had never been plugged into a computer to be viewed. The Buddha's Light Relic had not been opened again, nor had he touched it.

After placing it in a shielded safe, he headed straight for Virtue City.

Upon reaching Virtue City, he did not go home nor did he enter the villa area. Instead, he sat in the car and waited outside the gate of the villa area.

When he saw Wen Yan get off work and drive back, he opened the car door and waved at Wen Yan.

In the traditional style, when asking for help, to express sincerity, one should discuss matters in person without disturbing others. A phone call, no matter how eloquently persuasive, lacks the sincerity of face-to-face communication.

"Wen Sheng, you're off work, eh?"

"Uncle Wu, what a coincidence. I heard you were out. Are you back now?"

"Yes, I just came back from Yu State and happened to have something I'd like to consult with you about."

Wu Tingsheng lifted the case in his hand and gestured to Wen Yan.

"Get in the car first, shall we find a place to talk?"

"Sure, Uncle Wu, whatever you arrange is fine."

As soon as Wen Yan saw the case, he knew that Wu Tingsheng, having been 'once bitten, twice shy,' wouldn't dare bring something potentially problematic back home. He didn't even dare to enter the gates of the villa area.

Wen Yan glanced at the entrance and figured that Wu Tingsheng must have sought advice from someone. With such caution, even if there really were something in there, it certainly wouldn't affect Xiao Wu.

Many things, like statues, paintings, Door Gods, and similar items, require an 'invitation' to be brought home. This is an age-old rule.

Without an invitation, they can't come or enter.

Many of the Different Races today inherently follow this rule.

Especially those with complete, independent Spiritual Intelligence—certain rules must be observed.

Thus, many Ghosts, even when crossing boundaries to possess someone, do not forcibly break these rules. Instead, they mostly deceive people into extending an invitation.

Wen Yan followed Wu Tingsheng to a nearby teahouse. Wu Tingsheng took out the case and placed it on the table. He wasn't in a hurry to open it; instead, he first recited every word Liu Qiying had said.

Wen Yan was somewhat surprised. Wu Tingsheng was this calm?

"Uncle Wu, what are you planning to do?"

Wu Tingsheng pushed the case towards Wen Yan.

"I don't want to bother with it twice, so I won't look at it. I leave it entirely in your hands. I have no objections; I'll follow your advice."

Wen Yan was truly surprised this time. How could Wu Tingsheng resist not even looking?

Wu Tingsheng poured tea for Wen Yan and sighed softly.

"I can understand that woman's thinking, but sadly, she can't understand mine.

"Although we both are striving for similar goals, there is a fundamental difference between us.

"She gathered data and treasures through her hard work, and she can readily hand them over to me.

"It's all to prevent me from contending with him, where we'd both end up worse off, which would affect what she wants to do.

"He thinks that once I've seen these things and discovered methods, I would act like her and be unable to resist trying them."

Wu Tingsheng looked towards his home and took out his wallet.

Upon opening it, one side revealed a family photo. The other held a palm-sized piece of paper with a colored-in drawing of Daddy Peppa Pig.

The drawing was simple, just a cartoon character. Yet, Wen Yan could tell at a glance that the Daddy Peppa Pig truly captured Wu Tingsheng's Divine Essence.

"It's a gift from my kid!" Wu Tingsheng said with a smile, carrying a hint of pride and boastfulness.

Wen Yan could tell at a glance that it was just an ordinary drawing, likely colored by a child with watercolor pens. But clearly, Wu Tingsheng was delighted—his son had given him a drawing for the first time in years.

"I'm also afraid that if I looked, I wouldn't be able to resist the temptation to try.

"In my heart, I also know that this hard drive most likely contains many methods.

"But there will probably also be many less-orthodox methods that might be more effective.

"I'm afraid if I try them and my kid recovers, he will be unhappy because of it.

"This is where I differ from that woman surnamed Liu.

"She wants results and may dare to try anything and do anything.

"I want both the process and the result, but even more so, I want my kid to be willing and happy.

"Therefore, I'm brazenly entrusting everything to you."
