Huang Ya’s eyes swiveled from the Night Terror Ghost beneath the crimson horse’s hooves to Wang Bin, who stood nervously in a corner.
Huang Ya held out his hand. “Welcome to the Southern Sky Group.”
Wang Bin swallowed, then rubbed his right hand on his shirt and nervously shook Huang Ya’s hand with it. “T-thank you.”
The man standing before Wang Bin had just offered him a job. At first, he had been hesitant to accept it. Even though he had no education, as someone with a Commander-tier monster, he knew that he deserved more.
Then the man had mentioned the Southern Sky Group’s Security Division.
Even though Wang Bin had only been in Yuzhou for three months, he was aware of just how powerful the Southern Sky Group was.
One half of the city belonged to the Yuzhou city government, while its other half was under the Southern Sky Group’s influence.
The group had many large-scale companies branching out from it, giving it the foothold it needed in various fields and industries.
Most people would have given an arm and a leg to work at the group’s headquarters.
As for Wang Bin, he had always wanted a stable job. In order to repay Yuan Peng and his wife for the kindness they had shown him in the past, Wang Bin had hoped that Huang Ya would spare their lives.
However, he began to have second thoughts about repaying them when he remembered that the couple had been ready to abandon him just now.
“Let’s go, Reb Blood,” said Huang Ya to the crimson horse standing in the middle of the courtyard.
The horse snorted and trotted past Huang Ya with its head held high.
The Night Terror Ghost lay on the ground with a gaping wound in its chest. A lava-like liquid slowly dribbled down from the edge of the wound.
Huang Ya took out what looked like a spray bottle and misted out a silver metallic net over the Night Terror Ghost. He then tied the other end of the net to the crimson horse’s tail.
The horse neighed and swished its tail about irritably.
“We’re done here,” said Huang Ya. He thought about getting on the horse’s back, then dismissed the idea when he realized that the horse was glaring at him warningly.
“Wait,” Wang Bin suddenly shouted.
Huang Ya turned around with a smile. “Yes?”
“Will… will Brother Yuan Peng and his wife be killed?” asked Wang Bin.
“That’s just one of the occupational hazards people in their line of work face every day, kid,” said Huang Ya indifferently.
Wang Bin fell silent. He knew that a second chance was more than criminals like him deserved.
…
Two hours later, Huang Ya and the others had reported everything that had happened to Gao Peng, who had agreed to Wang Bin’s recruitment.
It turned out that Yuan Peng’s gang had dealt drugs and at times, sold their services as hired thugs.
Gao Peng didn’t bother asking Huang Ya how he would deal with Yuan Peng and his wife.
“The Night Terror Ghost is his familiar. The Ghost Child belongs to Wang Bin,” said Huang Ya.
A crimson horse stepped forth from behind Huang Ya, dragging behind the two ghost-like creatures it.

[Description]: One of the 24 mythical spirits of old, a Ghost Child is usually childish and timid in nature. It is also sometimes called the Wailing Night Spirit.
Gao Peng was stunned as he read the Ji Spirit’s description.
This was the second time he had been brought face to face with a monster with an actual legend behind it, the first being the Aquatic Dragon.
The ghost-type monsters of that day had evolved from various kinds of mountain and tree spirits. However, the legend behind the 24 spirits wasn’t as terrifying as the other legends Gao Peng had heard.
According to the legends, the 24 spirits were low-level phantoms that had lurked on the periphery of man’s consciousness in ancient times.
There was one spirit, however, that stood out from the rest: the Pa Spirit, which was also known as the Flying Zombie. Once feared as the god of drought, it was believed to be capable of slaying a dragon and swallowing the entire sky.
“Young master, are you interested in the Ghost Child?” asked Huang Ya, realizing that Gao Peng was looking at the timid ghost creature intently.
It seemed that Huang Ya and the others didn’t even know the monster’s real name. This wasn’t the first time people had called a monster by a name different from the one recorded in his database.
The Ji Spirit took a few steps back and eyed Gao Peng warily as he approached it.
It really is timid, thought Gao Peng.
Seeing a Commander-tier monster like it shrinking away from him made him think of a lion backing away from a rabbit in fear.
Gao Peng picked up a stone and threw it at the Ji Spirit. It jumped up in fright and quickly hid itself behind the Night Terror Ghost.
A while later, it poked its head out from behind the Night Terror Ghost and looked at Gao Peng nervously.
“Tell Wang Bin that I would like to study the Ji Spirit for a while,” said Gao Peng.
Huang Ya nodded. “No problem. Take as long as you like.”
Gao Peng chuckled. Glancing at the Hot-Blooded War Horse, he said, “You can also bring your familiar to my lab whenever you’re free.”
When all was said and done, he ordered Goldie to bring the Ji Spirit back to the manor.
