Return to the City: The Strongest King

Chapter 1479: Too Late for Regrets

"What should we do now?" Yang Yushi tightly grabbed Song Xiaodong's arm.

Song Xiaodong said, "Do you want to take a look?"

"Aren't we being treated as prey?" Yang Yushi said, and then her eyes suddenly lit up. "That means we won't face any danger, right? With you here, what am I afraid of?"

Song Xiaodong smiled slightly and said, "Yeah, if we just don't want to be attacked, it's simple. We can fire a shot randomly to scare it away."

"What about now?"

Song Xiaodong looked at Yang Yushi and said, "Let me take you on an adventure then."

"Sure, sure!" Yang Yushi nodded excitedly.

Song Xiaodong half-squatted and said, "Come on, I'll carry you. This way, if a beast attacks from behind, I'll have an extra shield."

"Pfft, sure, I'm lucky to be your shield." Yang Yushi chuckled and unhesitatingly clung onto Song Xiaodong's back.

With Yang Yushi on his back, Song Xiaodong continued strolling on the prairie, saying, "Don't look back. If you do, it won't come closer."

"Why?" Yang Yushi asked.

"We are being tracked by a leopard. Leopards hunt by ambush and rarely attack head-on. If you turn your head, it'll think you've spotted it and won't attack easily. That's why some Natives paint a face on the back of their heads to avoid animal attacks."

Yang Yushi admired him, "You know so much, you're like a walking encyclopedia."

"You're flattering me. I've learned a lot just to survive in harsh environments. But my general knowledge, like your financial knowledge, I'm far behind."

Just as Yang Yushi was about to speak, she suddenly felt herself lift off with Song Xiaodong and saw a shadow pass by them.

"Ah! Such a big leopard." When Yang Yushi looked again, she saw a very strong leopard leap a few meters ahead. It was so close without her noticing at all, and if Song Xiaodong hadn't dodged in time, she wouldn't have even known if she'd been bitten.

After missing its target, the leopard turned and leaped at them again without hesitation.

Once such a beast initiates an attack, it will keep at it unless it can't reach its target.

Facing the leopard head-on this time, Yang Yushi saw it spring forward several meters in a leap, showing steel-like claws and a terrifying maw full of fangs.

Song Xiaodong easily dodged again, which reassured Yang Yushi even more, "This is so fun. I've never seen such a big leopard in the wild before."

The leopard was indeed agile, but Song Xiaodong's current skills were vastly superior, dodging with ease. After several unsuccessful attacks, the leopard slipped back into the grass.

"Just left like that? This leopard really lacks persistence." Yang Yushi hadn't had her fill of fun.

Song Xiaodong laughed, "I bet the leopard is more frustrated than you."

"Hahaha, you're right. The leopard must be thinking, what kind of creature did it encounter today that it just couldn't catch?" Yang Yushi pressed her face against Song Xiaodong's.

Song Xiaodong laughed heartily, "Let's go, see what else we can encounter."

That day, Yang Yushi walked on her own for about two hours, but spent most of the time on Song Xiaodong's back.

She realized she wasn't much of a burden to Song Xiaodong, allowing them to move much faster. Most importantly, she loved being carried on Song Xiaodong's back.

Song Xiaodong only took brief naps, then traveled continuously day and night. On the third day, they crossed the border into another African country.

There they were temporarily placed in a refugee camp, waiting for the embassy to arrange their evacuation.

The Chinese embassy acted swiftly, sending someone the next day to bring them to the local embassy.

Upon learning the identities of Yang Yushi and Song Xiaodong, they were shocked and quickly contacted home, aiming to get them back to China as soon as possible.

Song Xiaodong and Yang Yushi both called home to report their safety.

"Miss Yang, Mr. Song... our embassy has limited rooms and can't provide each of you with separate rooms, I wonder if you could..."

"We'll take one room," Yang Yushi quickly interjected.

The embassy staff paused, intending to give Yang Yushi a private room and have Song Xiaodong share with others.

But with Yang Yushi's decision, he immediately said, "Alright, I'll arrange a room for you, please follow me."

Once inside the room, the staff departed. Yang Yushi looked at the bed and said, "It's the first time I feel a bed is such a luxurious enjoyment."
