Two days later, Yang Yushi and Song Xiaodong were hiding in an abandoned house, the interior in complete disarray, with anything useful basically gone.

This civil war had escalated entirely, not only involving the military forces but also many civilians joining in, taking up arms to support their side.

There were also some who weren't interested in supporting anyone, only seizing the opportunity to loot.

The battles between the military forces were brutal, but primarily targeted those with weapons. However, those looters targeted ordinary civilians, robbing, raping women, and causing widespread destruction.

These people even managed to get hold of weapons, forming small and large teams, trying to make their mark in this chaotic situation.

The ordinary citizens now couldn't distinguish between the regular military and those small groups. Seeing anyone with a gun filled them with terror, making them run as far as they could.

In these two days, Yang Yushi witnessed several bloody scenes, watching entire families slaughtered in their homes, and saw people fall dead beside her, with blood splattering onto her body.

Initially, Yang Yushi was very unaccustomed to it. Each time Song Xiaodong helped her, she barely managed not to vomit. However, after witnessing so much of it, she seemed to become somewhat numb. Seeing dead bodies still made her uncomfortable but not as severely as at the beginning.

"How much longer until we can leave this danger zone?" Yang Yushi asked weakly, lying on the bed, the only thing still somewhat intact in the house. Although the bed was not clean, she couldn't care anymore. Being able to lie down for a while was already an immense relief for her.

Song Xiaodong lay beside Yang Yushi, eyes closed, and said, "If everything goes well, it will still take us two more days to reach Lin Country, where we can seek help from the embassy."

"But if things don't go well..." Yang Yushi hesitated to finish.

"We'll have to see the situation at the border. If it's as chaotic over there, it won't be easy. However, I think there shouldn't be large-scale military operations there, so the danger might not be too great."

In such circumstances, the two were bound together for survival. Therefore, Yang Yushi naturally relied on Song Xiaodong, not feeling the previous contradictions in her heart and having no special thoughts, only feeling that being closer to Song Xiaodong meant greater safety. Physical contact with him ensured peaceful sleep.

"Okay!" Yang Yushi agreed, closing her eyes. Exhausted, she quickly fell asleep.

At midnight, Song Xiaodong woke Yang Yushi, and they once again embarked on their escape journey.

On the road, they changed cars without encountering any special situations and even met a few other cars. Clearly, these people were also trying to flee at night, and the presence of several cars together gave them courage.

Two utility vehicles caught up from behind. One suddenly sped up and blocked the road, with two men in the back holding machine guns, firing a few shots into the air, immediately stopping the convoy.

Song Xiaodong nodded, saying, "Stay in the car, and let's see how things unfold."

Their car was in the middle of the convoy, giving them some buffer time to assess the situation.

The vehicles in front and behind blocked the convoy, and a group of armed men stepped out, roughly pulling people from the cars.

As people were dragged out fearfully, the contents of the cars began to be looted. These civilians didn't dare resist, helplessly watching their belongings being taken.

Seeing that they weren't being harmed, just robbed, Song Xiaodong and Yang Yushi also got out of the car since they had nothing.

When the men reached Song Xiaodong's car and found nothing to take, they cursed before their eyes landed on Yang Yushi.

Yang Yushi instinctively hid behind Song Xiaodong, gripping his arm tightly.

"Take all the young women," one armed man yelled, waving his gun.

This statement caused panic. Everyone knew what it meant to be taken away, and they could foresee the consequences. Several young girls started crying, while the men were pleading continuously.

But those with guns were unmoved, swinging their weapons aggressively.

"If you dare resist, we'll kill all the men. Girls, come out, and we'll take you to enjoy life."

Behind Song Xiaodong, Yang Yushi whispered, "What should we do?"

Song Xiaodong remained calm, coolly saying, "We have to kill them."

Just then, someone reached to grab Yang Yushi's arm, ignoring Song Xiaodong completely. Song Xiaodong feigned a slight obstruction, adjusting his position. He had to act decisively before the opponent could react, otherwise allowing them to fire would cause civilian casualties.

"Get lost, or I'll kill you right now!" the man trying to take Yang Yushi yelled, pointing his gun at Song Xiaodong's chest.

"No!" Yang Yushi instinctively cried out, saying, "I'll go with you."

It was an instinct to protect Song Xiaodong, but Yang Yushi knew he wouldn't let her be taken. He would find a way to protect her. However, with the guns pointed, she was uncertain about what he would do.

"Smart woman, follow us, and we'll ensure your safety, letting you experience true pleasure."

The man with the gun laughed, reaching for Yang Yushi again.

Just then, Song Xiaodong made his move......
