I don't know whether it's because the Luoyu Immortal Palace is too large or because too few people have entered. Along the way, Tangyu and the others haven't encountered anyone or any danger. It seems that the Luoyu Immortal Palace is relatively peaceful and safe.
Nevertheless, Tangyu and the others dare not let their guard down. Suddenly, Tangyu's gaze flickers, seeing several figures ahead.
"There are people over there, let's go and take a look," Xuanyuan Wushang suggests.
The four of Tangyu approach and see three figures seated under a tree. The tree is unusual, having no branches or leaves, yet exuding a vibrant feeling, not lifeless at all. This tree is massive, requiring at least ten people to encircle it. It isn't tall, only about ten zhang high. From its trunk emanates flows of misty energy, covering a hundred zhang radius beneath it.
The three under the tree sit cross-legged, focused and eyes closed in cultivation, seemingly oblivious to the arrival of Tangyu's group, ignoring them entirely.
Xuanyuan Wushang glances at the tree and says, "There is fundamentally no tree in Bodhi, yet here is a wondrous sight. Being under the Bodhi Tree can empty one's mind, easily accessing an exquisite artistic conception, making cultivation twice as effective with half the effort. However, the Bodhi Tree favors those with fate. The unfavored receive nothing, but the favored might get the Bodhi Tree's guidance. It's even rumored some achieve enlightenment directly under the Bodhi Tree, reaching boundless accomplishments."
"The fact these three can sit quietly under the Bodhi Tree indicates they've gained some recognition from it. The longer they linger, the more benefits they might collect. Of course, it also depends on whether one can gain insights personally. Even within the marvelous conception, cultivation relies on oneself. The Bodhi Tree presents us with a good opportunity too."
Tangyu is slightly astonished: "The Bodhi Tree—isn't this fabled as the enlightenment site of Buddha Tathagata on Earth? Who would imagine there's a Bodhi Tree in the Luoyu Immortal Palace too? Truly extraordinary."
Xuanyuan Wushang says, "Let's go over as well."
Tangyu and the others proceed towards the Bodhi Tree, soon approaching a hundred zhang range before the tree, with a layer of misty energy blocking their path. This feels like an invisible barrier, allowing entry only to those with enough fate recognition from the Bodhi Tree. The closer one gets, the higher the recognition, hence greater the benefits.
The three under the Bodhi Tree are still twenty zhang away, indicating their recognition isn't extremely high, though still reasonably good.
Xuanyuan Wushang says, "Let's strive to get closer to the Bodhi Tree. If we can reach directly under it, the benefits will be enormous, and this is most likely an excellent opportunity for us."
Tangyu's group nods and enters the misty energy, advancing forward. Upon entry, Tangyu feels enveloped by a flood, waves crashing fiercely, seemingly about to be overwhelmed. The invisible erosion force also invades Tangyu, trying to expel him.
Getting close to the Bodhi Tree is naturally not easy.
Tangyu empties his mind, quieting instantly, expelling the eroding force. Step by step, he moves towards the Bodhi Tree. Despite only being a hundred zhang distance, traversing it is challenging, as if treading a heavenly path.
Among Tangyu's group, Sun Wukong finds it the easiest. He approaches the Bodhi Tree with ease and nonchalance, showing no signs of obstacles; his relaxed state would surely amaze others. Achieving such ease under the Bodhi Tree is indeed extraordinary.
The closer one gets to the Bodhi Tree, the more challenging it becomes, with boundless pressure surging like crashing waves. A moment of laxity can lead to instant expulsion.
Though difficult, Tangyu and the others steadily advance towards the Bodhi Tree, soon reaching within a twenty zhang range.
The three men previously seated now cast a glance at Tangyu's group with a hint of surprise, particularly when their gaze lands on Sun Wukong. They find themselves taken aback, each raising their eyebrows in astonishment. Is this monkey approaching with such ease? To be able to get this far, without any sign of struggle—could he actually touch the tree trunk directly? Touching the trunk is rumored to bring limitless opportunities and benefits.
Sun Wukong remains unfazed, being the first to arrive under the Bodhi Tree. He scratches his head, looking at the Bodhi Tree with puzzlement. This demeanor elicits bewilderment, what on earth is this Monkey King up to? Shouldn't he be sitting cross-legged to seek enlightenment? Enlightenment directly under the Bodhi Tree is most effective. There's potential for profound enlightenment and boundless achievement.
If now one could directly attain Enlightenment, then the realm of the heart and mind could directly reach the Zifu Realm, making the breakthrough to the Zifu Realm as easy as gaining weight from eating—effortless and natural. With enough Pure Yang Stones for cultivation, one could completely achieve the Zifu Realm in a short time.
This is the so-called saying of "Enlighten at dawn, ascend by dusk."
However, striving for direct Enlightenment is exceedingly difficult. Since ancient times, in legend, there has been only one person who attained Enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree. For thousands of years, countless peerless geniuses have come to the Luoyu Immortal Palace, yet only one has succeeded in direct Enlightenment—such is the terrifyingly low probability.
Tangyu and his companions struggled to arrive under the Bodhi Tree, finally making it there, allowing Tangyu to secretly breathe a sigh of relief. At least, it seemed, they had gained the high approval of the Bodhi Tree. Looking at the Bodhi Tree gave a profound sense of emptiness; just gazing at it for a few more moments could directly draw one into that void. Such a feeling was truly wondrous. This Bodhi Tree, indeed, was miraculous.
If any Immortal Sect possessed a Bodhi Tree for disciples to cultivate under, the benefits would be endless.
Tangyu sat cross-legged, entering the emptiness while gazing upon the Bodhi Tree, sensing as if his spirit had ventured into a remarkable world, and could cultivate without any distractions, completely in void mind. In such a state, no matter what is cultivated, it would surely yield results a hundred-fold more effortlessly. Moreover, there were some Dao sounds transmitted, as if an Immortal was preaching the Dao. Tangyu had experienced such a feeling at the preaching place of Pangu on Earth.
Preaching indeed greatly enhances one's progress.
Listening to the preaching, Tangyu began to comprehend this Supreme Dao while concurrently cultivating the Yin Yang Life and Death Art. Currently, Tangyu was only at the Second Layer of the Golden Core Realm, which, in terms of realm, was still very low. At this moment, it was a perfect opportunity for cultivation.
The trio over there exchanged astonished glances, their faces filled with shock. How could these four directly approach the trunk of the Bodhi Tree? It was too frightening. Who exactly were these four, and what was their origin? They were all top disciples of a premier Immortal Sect, peerless geniuses surrounded by countless halos of glory, yet despite their greatest efforts, they could only approach within twenty zhang of the Bodhi Tree. It was also quite rare for them to hear of anyone getting closer to the tree trunk.
But today, these four had all managed to near the tree trunk, which was exceptionally extraordinary, leaving everyone dumbfounded.
In the state of voidness, Tangyu was indeed ecstatic to feel his cultivation speed increase by more than tenfold. The effects of such cultivation were truly excellent. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Tangyu began to simulate the Pangu Nine Axes in his mind. In this artistic conception, he immediately felt his hands on some insights. Many things previously not fully understood suddenly became clear.
For Tangyu, such cultivation was extremely beneficial, and his rate of progress was much faster than before. If he could undergo seclusion for a few years here, Tangyu was confident he could elevate himself to the Sixth Layer of the Golden Core Realm or even higher.
Thus, Tangyu treasured this moment and devoted himself to intense cultivation.
Xuanyuan Wushang's Pan Chenyu also sat down, entering the state of voidness for cultivation.
Only Sun Wukong remained somewhat at a loss, glancing at Tangyu and the others, then at the Bodhi Tree, occasionally even scrutinizing the three men over there. Scratching his head, he looked puzzled. Out of boredom, Sun Wukong could only fix his gaze on the Bodhi Tree.
As he watched, Sun Wukong's eyes suddenly turned somewhat hollow, as if his soul had departed. His heart and soul were entirely drawn into the Bodhi Tree. If noticed by others, they would undoubtedly cry out in surprise. Even Sun Wukong himself was greatly astonished, as if experiencing an out-of-body sensation, immediately feeling himself immersed in the Bodhi Tree, entering an unfamiliar world.
Sun Wukong also peered around, retrieving his Jingu Bang: "What kind of strange place is this? How did it bring me, old Sun, into this bizarre land? What kind of weird Bodhi Tree makes it appear no different from an ordinary tree to me, old Sun?"
"Hmm--mmm--"
Suddenly, a great bell-like Dao sound echoed into Sun Wukong's mind, resonant like an empty valley, silencing Sun Wukong who gradually sat down unprompted, as if his soul were under control, attentively listening to this Dao sound. His mind entered a wondrous artistic conception, a state Sun Wukong had never experienced before.
